Re: Ooc: Volume 3

I know right?! She’s won a bunch of awards and crap for art and she actually specializes in art depicting her experiences in Afghanistan during her years in EOD for the Air Force. She’s also beautiful and has incredible cosplay skills. She made me a whole quidditch outfit years ago with black snakeskin padding and a wand and everything! (I was Slytherin). She’s a pretty dang amazing person and she’s ridiculously talented. I’m happy to be her friend but boy it makes me want to do better! In like, everything.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Ok, so if you’re wondering why I’ve been flaky lately it’s because ever since I worked on my mom’s room I’ve been possessed by the cleaning demon. I’ve been deeeeep cleaning my whole house ever since and it’s a bit consuming. Today is kitchen day....if I don’t make it today I’ll do tomorrow! Sorry guys!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

More like a devils trap! ;)

So, I was woken at 2 in the morning by my husband freaking out about our cat. So I’m waiting at the vet to see how she is. They’re running tests because she’s walking weird and acting spacy. Even tired and stressed and worried so if I don’t post til Friday I’m really really sorry! It just depends how the rest of the day goes.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

No worries here, I've had a similar problem with a sick cat. Certain noises put him into a violent fit, and he'd act a bit like you described afterward. It was years before I could identify the issue enough for the vets and get him some medication. Now the issue is getting him to take his pills

Besides, it was babysitting day today and I have no energy left. :)

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

She’s hospitalized there for 24 hours. She has kidney disease, which I knew about, but apparently it’s getting worse. They estimate a matter of months left, which is something I guess. I’m trying to look on the positive side that she’s really old and we gave her a great life but she’s extremely special and soooo affectionate so I know she’s irreplaceable. At least we still have time for now. Thanks for your support and understanding guys!

And Penny, that sucks trying to give pills! What I used to do is crush them up and mix them with gravy or meat based baby food. Often she’d just eat it on her own. If not you can at least shoot it into his mouth with a medicine syringe. Fun times.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope it goes well for you.

Yeah, I struggled to give my cat his pills, because he also has bad teeth and is just stubborn besides. He'd even spit the pills up later. :o I also hit on crushing him up in his meat, but now the struggle is making him eat his meal on time. He needs one pill three times a day, and the effect only lasts 8 hours. And he's fussy, doesn't like the vegetable flavour, and gets bored of the others, so I need to swap between three or four packets. Cats! Argh!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Penny I had a similar issue with a cat. Mine was a once a day thing, but you might use this if you get desperate.
1) Crush pill in water. I found that making a fluid just thinner than a paste worked best.
2) Suck fluid up in turkey baster
3) Wait for kitty to get in your lap
4) Open (pry open) cat mouth, and squirt in fluid with baster
5) Apply ointment to scratches...

Also before I forget
I highly recommend Caraval and Legendary by Stephanie Garber. Wonderful story, beautifully written, can't give it enough praise. Just fantastic.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yeah that sucks Penny! I’m sorry you have to deal with that!

Update: Misha is home but I don’t know how long she’s going to be around.  Vet thinks she has cancer but my husband wants a second opinion. So Monday she goes somewhere else. Normally I’d think that unnecessary but the first vet was pretty unprofessional. Still, I don’t have my hopes up and anticipate putting her down next week. We’ll see though. I’d love to be wrong. She can’t put much weight on her hind legs and she needs help to use her litter box and she can’t be left alone unless we lock her up where she can’t hurt herself. So I’m going to probably be out of commission dealing with this for a week or so. If I can make it less I will but I’m just drained. Thanks guys.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Poor puss. :( I remember going through similar issues with my old dog. Good luck with everything.

Is Misha named after Misha Collins? Yeah, I can picture him as a cat. :D

Unfortunately, my cat's not a lap cat, he's a reach-out-your-arm-and-pat-me cat.

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Yup! Her name is a combo from Misha Collins and also because she reminded me of a russian supermodel with her high cheekbones and half lidded eyes.

The second  opinion went well. She's improving on her meds and we're going to give her iv fluids twice a week and then let her live as long as she seems happy. The dr said that could possibly even be months, it just depends. She'll probably never be able to jump up on stuff again but she walks well and isn't in pain. When she goes downhill we'll euthanize her but until then we get to spoil her and at least have more time than we thought!

So I have a lot to catch up on but I’ll try to post this week sometime. Thanks for all your support and patience everyone!!

Re: Ooc: Volume 3

Thanks! Yeah, it will still suck when she goes, but I have more time at least. Unfortunately I have to inject an i.v. bag of fluids under her skin twice a week so that sucks....It's really weird! the fluid gathers under her skin into this big lump and slowly gets absorbed by her muscles! It creeps me out! Plus needles....yikes. The things we do for our animals.

On another note, I will try to post tomorrow. I'm still trying to get my life back together. She can't be left alone because she will fall over when she tries to get on stuff so I either have to follow her around the house or lock her in a bedroom, that we emptied just so she can't get into trouble. There's furniture all over that looks atrocious and things are in disarray RIGHT after I just got done organizing everything! It's driving me crazy! So I'm kind of unmotivated and burned out and blah but I think I can scrounge something together tomorrow. We did get a little ramp for her so she can get back on the couch again. So ugly....

Well, I can remember a plot point from five years ago. :) I might be a bit rusty on the specifics however.
