While the adventurers prepared for their journey to Tolyn, grabbing a
Potion of Healing for each of them from Mustavoloneus the musadi wished them success on their adventure, Drex and Amare traveled to the Arcane University to satisfy Drex’s instant curiosity.
On the way to the floating academic institution Amare wondered if Drex believed his memories of Kendal’s life were incomplete. To which Drex only responded that knowing everything about Kendal and Amare’s kin may help explain what was going on with Amare and where his kin were to be found. Amare believed it unlikely that Kendal’s memories were incomplete and he expressed his amusement at the peculiarity of both memories and the nature of time within the material universe.
Which prompted Drex to ask if Amare could explain exactly where he was from, it took Amare a long time to answer, as they spent much of the journey in silence as the man seemed to be deep in thought about what to say.
Eventually, just shy of the ferries which flew from inner city to the Stones - the ring of earthbergs which floated at various heights above the flower-like citadel of Galdion - Amare spoke up and answered Drex’s question.
”It is much alike to what you would call home, it is less a place and more a state of being, you might call it the fountainhead of all souls but that would be an incomplete description. There is nothing in my experience of this world which adequately describes it but fellowship touches upon the surface of it and love reaches a little into it.” his answer left Drex’s more perplexed than anything else.
The university was of little help to Drex, though almost everyone there recognized Amare as the near perfect image of the wizard Kendal a resemblance he passed off as coincidence, he did ask Drex not to disturb people with the truth of his nature or origins. When a wizard wondered about the blackness and the red iris of Amare’s eyes he answered that it was a birthmark of sorts.
Little documentation existed about either the Dreadborn War or Kendal’s life and the historians they asked said they were still working out exactly what had happened during that time as well. The end of the war itself was a particular mystery with little facts and a great deal of myth to it and Kendal had died not more than twenty years thereafter, an old man at forty four years old.
Amare’s kin were a complete mystery to the librarians as they had never heard of the three names Drex gave outside of being typical parts of arcadian names. When Drex asked Amare about this he only said that is what they were called in essence if not by the letter of the word. Without any more information about Amare’s kin the search was also a dead end. So when Drex and Amare rejoined their companions at the guild later Drex was not particularly pleased though Amare seemed to perfectly happy about the adventurers venturing out of the city after almost a week within it.
