Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Okay, I think I've sorted out my next character. You can probably guess; it'll be something referred to in the classic series.

I'm actually not great at statting out things in this system; so nothing before the weekend. Some of their skillset is similar to Smoke actually; but not quite as ... friendly, shall we say?

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Well, now you've got me curious! Are we talking agile speedy type, sneaky one, crossbow shooter, or martial artisty? I've seen your Sereth, Stirix, and Brigadier, so I'm thinking something military.

*

Bex Taylor-Klaus* reassures her fans that she had no plans to leave the role of Smoke Alarm in Always Time to Travel, despite getting busy with the Scream series and voicing the upcoming Voltron: Legendary Defender series. She's having way too much fun on ATTT with Blake and Samuel and the rest.

Fans speculate that SLJ is working on a Nick Fury movie with Marvel. Others say it's a Sereth special.

* I know I've previously gone with Ksenia Solo, but I keep gravitating back to Bex. She's perfect!

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Cheetah People. Agile, speedy type! I'm going to go before they've fully become one; so I can use a normal pic. ANd can talk!

They will however, have a bit of a 'feeding' issue.

I'll figure out stats over the weekend; but they'll have some survival skills for sure, and probably some way of getting cat-vision. And yes, fighting, but more for a fight to survival than through military training.

Producers claim that they have seen early drafts of a new companion, and they're like nothing ever before seen on Always Time to Travel. Speculation is rife that is a Doctor Who monster; with producers using semantics.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Karra was a full-on Cheetah Person and could talk.  Just sayin'.

I have the Seventh Doctor sourcebook that has a writeup, and rules for fighting / having the transformation.

Should be interesting.

I thought they could only do this... weird telepathy thing they had going. Do I need to rewatch Survival? (Oh the horrors!)

If they can talk, I'll be a full Cheetah person because well... kitties!

Could you send me what you have on them?

ANd if there are actually rules about the transformation, we could start with him/her not entirely changed yet, but in the process.

(Also, if Smoke really is going with Bex, my mind wants to use either Caity Lotz or Colton Haynes for the cheetah person.)

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Cheetah Person?! 'You're nothing like my Puddy!' Actually, they'd have a lot in common, since Kangs basically boil down to running and hunting, but I'm not sure Smoke would accept one, not at first.

It could be like Ace sometimes is in books, audios, and the Doctor Where? game: normal most of the time until pushed and the Cheetah aspects come out. If you can find a way to turn back, you might even go full were-cheetah, which is basically what the Cheetah People are.

They could talk, Kara talked a lot with Ace while in full costume.

Interestingly, writer Rona Munro suggested they'd be human-looking with some cat-like make-up, which would've been quite cheap to do. Except the costumes came back as all-covering suits and cat masks. She was unhappy about that, as it obscured the lesbian subtext between Ace and Karra. ;)

The Seventh Doctor era is odd like that. The Kandyman was meant to be odd-looking humanoid in a labcoat, not a massive candy robot; the Destroyer a creepy guy in a suit, not the best demon costume ever. So, by the time Who writers had finally figured out to suggest things subtly and economically, the designers had finally worked out how to big amazing costumes.

-snort- Knowing what Doctor Who was like in the late '80s, part of me thinks they put her in a full costume precisely -to- obscure the subtext.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

I'd like for the next adventure leg to be follow up on the Corsair's clue at the end of time, and to follow up on what we learned from River Song with that Warpsmith guy at the Stormcage. In the case of the former, if you decide to play a human Sereth, I was considering having us stop on Earth to fuel up at the Cardiff Rift or some other anomaly and get involved in shenanigans there. If you're playing an alien, that would be in Gary's hands.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Cheetah People have a teleport ability, so theoretically this one can appear anywhere, and assuming no time travel, they're apparently contemporary. They can only yo-yo back to their home planet, however, but "Survival" has the Doctor and Ace return to the TARDIS on Earth, so "home" can be interpreted.

If I may, I'd like to end the story on the chase-scene Sereth promised Smoke. We don't have to find out who won, let the fans debate it. :) I think that's a good note to close on - still running. :)

And we can play out fixing Puddy at the start of the next adventure.

By the way, this entire storyline took place during the ATTT Christmas Special. Remember, Trav and Stan stopped by to pick up get Sereth and Smoke and give them Xmas presents.

I Imagine that this may have been a two hour special.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Ehhhhh.... from an OOC perspective I want to say yes about Taliro.

But from an IC perspective? They need to rebuild. Desperately. Sure, Lestasel was the big name, along with Zevid. But don't forget Rilessan, and a couple of other members of Virtue were uncovered. I suspect the ministry of virtue is about to have a thorough checking over as to who may have not been uncovered as well. Much for the same reasons that Sereth can no longer travel, he wouldn't be recommending Taliro to travel. Sure, Taliro is only a Probationer, but he is also one of the few they know without a shadow of a doubt hasn't been compromised.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Remember, Trav can have a Taliro who has travelled with her, seasoned and strengthened by years of travelling, back in 5 minutes. But it's just an idea.

OOCly, I think that Taliro and Smoke are great buddies. That's why I (and Trav) suggested it.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

Psychic, teleporting, transforming cheetah people? Really?
This shows how little I know about old Who, but that sounds so weird and totally not what I would expect from old Who. Sort of puts the nuWho cat people in a different perspective.

I really need to watch more old Who episodes.

Old Who is weird. The absolute -best- of old Who, in my opinion, is better than the current series. Having said that, the variance between good and bad is starker. For every City of Death there's a Silver Nemesis.

And "The Caves of Androzani" can be followed immediately by "The Twin Dilemma".

Who is probably at it's best when it's weird. Some of the best stories boil down to some ridiculous synopses. Most Who stories do, in fact.

Re: OOC (Clarifications, Etc.: Second Incarnation)

But "Robot" is great! :D

The Traveller:
If Smoke unwraps it, it looks like a large blue marker. It says EVERMARKER on it. "This can make wallscrawl on anything. Use this dial here for different shades of blue. Use this other here for other colors. Use this here to erase stuff, but I don't suppose  you'll be using that too much.  It uses sonic tech to make molecular changes on an object. It can be cleaned up but it'll never run out."

This reminds me of a D&D game years ago in which we found a magic paintbrush that made something look exactly like what it was painted as. Say, a rock painted to look like a potato became a potato. The DM didn't intend it to be anything more than a gimmick, until my character started using it to paint holes on walls and floors and so on. Thing is, he was a tunnel-running, crossbow-wielding, weirdly talking svirfneblin rogue...
