Chapter 14:  The Lost Keys of Solitude (finale)

Sitting on his haunches, his back leaning against the wall, Finn asks Mika'il a few more questions, of Sadda, of the undead that lurk farther on within the crypt, though Mika'il does not seem to have a satisfactory answer to anything.  He has not gone much farther on, but was warned off by Sadda, who had told him little when he had gone on.

In the end, Mika'il's whining proves to much for Finn, who shoves a length of rope into his mouth, tying it tightly at the back of his head before casting another spell and with the help of Magnus, lifting the apprentice off his feet and planting his fists firmly within the stone of the cave wall so that his feet hang just a few inches from the floor.  Though Mika'il is exhausted, he flails his feet and offers several muffled screams of protest, eventually planting his feet against the slanting cave floor to take the pressure of his hanging body off of his forearms as he pants in exhaustion.

It is not long before everyone is rested enough to say they are tired of his presence.

And so, hopefully one last time, the group stands and sets off with all of their equipment, leaving the apprentice there to pick up once the demon Sadda has been taken care of.  Magnus leads, followed by Finn, Gustav, Bjorn, Judoc, Terri, and Rondald, each with their weapons readied and waiting for combat.

Their movement is slow, ready for the promised undead to jump out around any corner... however, the dead they find here are entirely undisturbed.  Again there are burial niches, though here they are fewer and farther between with full skeletons lying in state, their hands just crossed over their chest.  The ubiquitous purple mushrooms that spread throughout the caves grow here in earnest, their bright, almost luminous color seeming to rub off on their every surrounding.

A few stray glances here proves there is little else to find and Magnus turns the corner, his lighted necklace shining the way ahead.

"Oh shit."  The minotaur mutters, his mace coming up in anticipation of a fight.

OOC:  It is 1000 on the 15th of May.  You guys were about an hour resting.  No one mentioned leaving anything behind, so you guys each have all your stuff in hand or on your back.  Let's do 2 rounds worth of action and I'll post a map publicly once everyone has a good idea what is going on.

Chapter 14:  The Lost Keys of Solitude (finale)

It would be unfair to say that Magnus was growing complacent now that they had captured their enemy, but he was more relaxed than he had been, that was true.

He turned the corner and saw an undulating mass of yellowed bone, rusted blade and magical glow, the combination of which seemed to nearly steal the breath from his chest.

It was very difficult not to just press back down the hallway in order to keep himself safer from the forces arrayed before them, but he had learned much in the past few months, and going on the attack would allow them to get more bodies onto the front line.

He shifted alone the wall to his left, and then lashed out at the glowing skull before him, not once, but twice, the jangle.of his mail sharp and sudden after his previous plodding pace. He raised no cry of alarm, but rather the cacaphony of his assault raised it for him.

Gustav Pushes past Finn and stands beside  Magnus, shield up, swinging at the things in front of him.
He doesn't make any special efforts at this time.

Chapter 14:  The Lost Keys of Solitude (finale)

In a way, Judoc sympathizes with Mika’il. The parallels between the two are not wholly lost on the Templar student—both men students of magic, grasping for more knowledge, with bird familiars that have come to them unexpectedly. Unlike Mika’il, however, Judoc has no desire to kill to further his aims, and if the situation were reversed, Judoc is certain Mika’il would have no qualms about snuffing out Judoc’s life.

Now, fully rested, Judoc is ready to continue. Once Sadda has been destroyed and the group has decided on whether to open the cells, they can leave this forsaken prison and head someplace where Judoc can get a warm bath, a bottle of wine, and a hot meal. Maybe a nice roast pheasant, or some lamb stew, or a rack of ribs.

Judoc is daydreaming about sleeping on an actual bed for once when the others stop ahead. He readies his staff, ready to take on the next threat.

OOC: Wait.

Chapter 14:  The Lost Keys of Solitude (finale)

At the rear, Rondald looks back, making sure nothing is coming from behind, or above, before moving forward to see if there is room to help, crossbow at the ready.
