Apparently I also completely missed this OOC post for a few days...

No worries. More cinematic that she's fighting half naked! lol

Re: Out of Character

It does seem rather cinematic!  If only you had the daredevil advantage to take advantage of fighting in your underwear!

As a side note, my kids just got back home after a long stint at grandmas  I'll keep your thread as the first priority, but in case things are taking a little longer than normal, just know it should settle down in a few days.

Re: Out of Character

Raddek:
As the cube surges towards Rolf and Lisa, the light now flows through the thing like sunlight through water, sending shadows of the decomposing corpse across the cave walls.

I especially liked the imagery evoked by this line of yours!  Nice!

Re: Out of Character

After the last post, I realized that I completely missed an opportunity and should have made this the picture for the cube.

I had in my head a picture of a sort of half-projection picture and half shadow play.  I couldn't figure out exactly how to describe it, but I'm glad that what ended up in there did the trick!

I wonder how many hit points Ironman McGee has?  :)

Re: Out of Character

Rolf Erikson:

OOC:  Sajaa, I have a light hooded cloak and a small buckler shield if you want either.   Rolf will pick his backpack back up and retrieve those items if Sajaa wants either.

Than you, Rolf! :)
I presumed in my last post that her own clothes and gear were still in their neat little pile when the cube attacked. If, instead, the cube slid over it and picked up the stuff or whatever, and its recoverable, Sajaa will recover it. If its destroyed or gooified, then, yes, Sajaa will borrow anything anyone wants to loan her, seeing she's barefoot and in her undies with nothing but her sword.

I'll await Raddek's official ruling on that.

Re: Out of Character

Sajaa is able to collect and get her things back again.  There may have been some contact with the cube, but not long enough for serious damage.

Re: Out of Character

Sajaa:
OOC: Does attacking with 2 hands add +1 to damage?

I gave you the benefit of the doubt in the post, but I still haven't really found a great answer to this.  It seems to be the rule of thumb with weapons that are commonly used 1/2 handed (spear, bastard sword, katana, etc.) but I haven't found any hard and fast rule in the book.

Any one else seen any rule in regards to using an extra hand on normally 1 handed weapons?

I'm fine with whatever ruling you guys decide on.
I did take a peek here, but I don't think its an official 'rule'.

That's not really on point, because she's not trying to do a defensive grip. I guess it would make a difference if the handle of her saber is long enough to accommodate a double handed grip without making it awkward. If its a little too short, I might get the +1 damage at a cost of -2 to skill. If it long enough not to impede my swing, there would be no penalty and the +1 damage would work.  I'm cool with whatever you come up with. Sajaa usually uses extra effort for damage anyway, seeing she's kind of a weakling.

Re: Out of Character

Sajaa:
OOC - If we can skirt these and continue on, or hop over them without risk of bursting them, my vote is we continue on.

I don't think I did a great job of describing this cave.  There aren't any actual exits to this cave other than the one you came in through.  The only way you haven't fully explored is in with the big mushrooms and the rats.

As for the grip stuff, MA 111 was a great reference, which brought up a lot of different grips.  I'd never really looked at defensive grip before I don't think.

I think the short and skinny is, if you want to use a different grip it requires a ready maneuver in between, though it can be done in conjunction with a ready maneuver for any other purpose (drawing a weapon, changing weapon grip for length, etc.).

Without changing grip, I think the effect of the 'two hand' bonus can be gained with a committed attack, which can add +1 to damage with a -2 to defense (though it removes the ability to parry/block with the weapon you attacked with, or dodge if you kicked).

OOC: 11:06, Today: Sajaa al-Kassem rolled 10 using 3d6 with rolls of 1,3,6.  Sajaa default Tracking roll, needs 7

Rolf, you probably don’t see everything, but you are aware enough to throw in a response.  You can see at least the man with the sword, and he is speaking loud enough for everyone to hear.
