Yep, Mort is still alive. I know how those days go. Been having a bunch of them myself.

It'd be easy to blame COVID-19 but it really hasn't impacted me. Just getting older.

Hey, I noticed that I missed a lot of important things before Anya told me. I'm a bit slow at processing things and lots of information can be overwhelming, but I don't want my character to have those problems. Is it okay if I ask you when I'm lost again?

I demand a refund on all time spent in 2020.  This year has really sucked.

Of course, you can always ask for clarifications and updates and explanations, Mista. I don't always catch the meanings of everything players post, and even miss a post now and then.

Re: The Seventh Magic

Been sick for the past week. Nothing serious, just a seasonal cold where my whole body aches, I take the usual meds, and then all I feel like doing is laying around in bed all day. It's still hanging on which is why I'm posting this.

Hey, I have points in Alternate Magic, what does that exactly mean? I am curious to see if my character can explore magic more.

It means you know something about magic other than what is 'common knowledge'.

There's divine magic and arcane magic. But then there's elemental magic, and the Mysterious Seventh Magic, which is what you are all looking for to try and 'fix' the Radiance.

You can always explore other fields of endeavor. It's generally referred to as 'multi-classing'. Normally, you'd need to find a wizard to apprentice to who can teach you. However, with 2 points in Alternate Magics, you probably have a leg up on that already. You just need to find someone who can cast arcane spells to show you how it's done.

Sorry for the delay. I've been having computer problems. I ran out of memory. My computer, not me personally (though I'm working on it!). Apparently I've fallen victim to something called 'bloatware', which I hadn't even heard the term before. Piles and piles of apps that get dumped on my computer by other apps. Don't know when they got there, how they got there or why they got there, but it's eaten up my 213GB of hard drive memory. Which meant I couldn't open any files or a lot of apps. Contacted Microsoft support to 'resolve' the issue, but other than pointing out that I've got 138GB of 'Other', they couldn't/wouldn't tell me what all the crap was or what I could get rid of that wouldn't screw up my computer.

Finally went through a deleted a few apps that I did recognize, such as Skype, which I haven't used in about 10 years now and can't foresee using again any time soon. Also deleted Twitter which I don't use. Deleted XBox apps; again, never used and never will.

That freed up a whopping 2GB. It's at least enough to let me do things again... until it fills up with more bloatware.

I used to think it was own files that were eating up the memory, but then realized that the thousands of files in total barely filled 2GB. Of course, my music is 27GB....

Anyway, even after deleting 75% of my files (copied it all to an external hard drive left over from my last computer), it barely made a dent.

I understand that. And wish I could help you more. But without seeing your computer I can't do much from my end. Check out your Temporary Internet Files and cookies too, see if you can clear those out.

If you do what Rodrigo says make sure you know all your user id and passwords for the various websites you go to that require them.

Clearing out temp internet files can free up some space.  I'd also look to see if you have a bunch of *.tmp files where the .tmp are temp files that have been created but not deleted when things were not closed properly.

That gets done every time the flag pops up. They don't amount to much. The clean up says it only gets me about 2Mb.

I had 8 versions of C++. Deleted 5 of them already. It's not like I'm ever going to use it.

Did some spring cleaning last weekend. Ran across a box of some ten-year old papers mixed in with some gaming materials. And then there was this sheet...

DIVERT YOUR COURSE

This is the actual radio conversation of a U.S. naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations, 10-10-95.

CANADIANS: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

AMERICANS: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the north to avoid a collision.

CANADIANS: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the south to avoid a collision.

AMERICANS: This the captain of the U.S. Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

CANADIANS: No, I say again, you divert YOUR course.

AMERICANS: This the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States Atlantic Fleet. We are accompanied by three Destroyers, three Cruisers, and numerous support vessels. I DEMAND that you change your course 15 degrees north. I say again, that’s one-five degrees north, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship.

CANADIANS: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

Re: The Seventh Magic

For those who are interested and saw the news of the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi river being closed because of the extremely large crack on the support beam,  We crossed over that bridge both going to and coming back from my niece's graduation. I believe they closed that bridge the next day after we crossed it coming home.

On a lighter note, the same niece who just graduated is now engaged.
