In most of the other D&D games I've run, the experience points by level were the same for all classes. In BD&D, that wasn't the case. Since each class had differing value based on abilities, level progression was harder for some. Made sense.
But, using the system I'd come up with for the other games didn't work on this one.
So, here's the XPs needed by level.
Now, in the original rules, the XP requirements doubled the previous level. I'm not quite sure why they did that, especially since they were inconsistent anyway... rounding off the numbers if they got a little irregular. In the end, it just meant that defeating a 2nd level monster got you 200xp while defeating an 8th level monster got you 2,000xp. In other words, they just scaled up the numbers.. for the same effort. Otherwise, the higher you got in level, the harder it got to progress another level. To hell with that!
On this table, it's the same amount of XPs for each level.

For each encounter, you'll get Experience Points (XPs) not just for fighting and defeating it but for reacting and interacting with it. So, sometimes talking to a monster will be better than killing it.
