Re: Mobbed

Otis seemed confused as the noise of the rabble died down but reacted as expected and walking past the dwarven cleric entered the hostel.

Once inside he looked around at the scenes of fighting, the roped prisoners and those still in the room. Finally he said "Well that could have gone better. Your Ronalt, yes?.... So, show me where Rentsch is or rather his body."

[Private to Gwythe:  Gwythe can't understand why on Oerth, Kalador would be involved with such drivel but he continued with his plan and opened the next door.

The door opens onto a large room with six pallets, obviously a communal bedroom.  At the foot of each pallet is a small locker that is open. The room is tidy but empty, the pallets made-up and obviously not in use. There are two small windows, their shutters partially ajar and allowing some light to fall in the room.

Ronalt pointed to the kitchen/end of the bar, "Over there I understand."
He turned to keep a watch on the crowd and periodically back to Otis.

Re: Mobbed

As Ronalt entered the kitchen, Otis slammed the door behind him.  Shortly the back door could be heard slamming followed by Otis's raised voice.  It was loud enough to hear but not loud enough to make out the words without someone listening at the door.

[Private to Ronalt de Gault: Otis waits until Ronaly enters the kitchen then slams the door shut behind him. he briefly looks out the back at the corpse of Rentsch then slams that door.

"What in ten nine hells have ye done Ronalt! Ye were supposed the come in here peaceful and 'try and blend in'! Oh no... there's Rentsch, he detects evil, lets kill him! Well I've got news for you two thirds of the village is evil are ye going to kill them too?" He says in a stern voice that is low enough not to carry through the door. Calming slightly he continued, "Right we've only got a few minutes thanks to Arek. You'll have to leave the village before someone tries to take revenge or the mob gets even uglier.  Get your party together, take the two prisoners as hostages but leave them unharmed at the other side of the bridge.  That should gain you a few minutes and I'll try and stall things here as long as possible. There's a cave to the north west about three miles, and old druid named Riker lives there, you should be able to find it. I'll meet you there later tonight."

He goes to the door and moves to open it before turning and saying "You have a lot to learn about this type of place, inviting someone to climb in the window does nothing for their street credibility. Believe me reputation is everything here." He shakes his head, his face had a pained expression at this as if remembering somethings he would rather forget.
]

[Private to Felicia Florette; Gwythe; Kalador:

Gwythe moves along the corridor and opens the door which opens onto a small area with two door leading off.  The floor is damp and there is a musty smell.

"With Rentsch dead, it must solve some of yer problems in town anyway."
"So now yer know the truth instead of what yer reckoned happened. perhaps yer might just tell us the low down on the local troubles."

ooc: put this into a PM as Ronalt and Otis are in the kitchen with the doors closed.

Re: Mobbed

Continuing to speak, Arek simply nodded in response to Otis' quiet words.
Moments later the tempo of his dialogue changed, the topic switching from inane "filler" to what sounded to most as an attempt to directly mollify the crowd and prepare them for a change of heart. Dwelling heavily on Rentch's presumed prior insults and crimes, Arek worked hard at swaying the crowd's opinion of the groups actions.
His words were delievered with a clarity rarely heard by those who knew him, and a power beyond that capable of a mere mortal.....

Otis continued to stand next to Arek as the tone of the discussion changed.  One or two of the crowd seemed a bit restless as if they were hearing something they did not believe, for others it was preaching to the choir.

[Private to Arek Blackiron: Even as Otis whispers to him again, Arek knows that the duration of the spell is almost up. "Leave them to me now Arek, gather you people and go.  Take the two prisoners as hostages but leave them unharmed on the other side of the bridge." the big smith whispered.]

The next room was a bathroom still damp after use that day.

Re: Mobbed

Arek's voice dies away and Otis begins to speak.  Those that listened intently to Arek now have a strong desire to leave the hostel and take prisoners or hostages with them. Some of the others accept the wisdom of this.

Outside the crowd noise starts to creep up as Otis standing in front to the doors begins to speak. "My friends! It is as was reported, Rentcsh is dead. Wat and one other are prisoners and if we try and seek vengeance, whether right or wrong, it will go bad for them.  I have agreed that we will let the group of wrongdoers go if the undertake to release the hostages. Should they ever return this way again they can be sure things will go badly for them."

There is quite a commotion at this news with various factions wanting retribution others clearly happy at this news. Otis however has the crowd in control, at least for the moment.

Suddenly from above comes the loud noise of a dog barking and a door slamming!

The noise from the crowd intensified. The demands of people to know what was going on was loudest.

[Private to Felicia Florette; Iviana; Kalador: Gwythe continued even as Arek wrapped up his speech and opened the door a fraction.  There was a suddenly loud barking and the door slammed shut!]

[Private to Gwythe: Gwythe continued even as Arek wrapped up his speech and opened the door a fraction.  he could just see a blur of movement as there was a suddenly loud barking and the door slammed shut! Clearly the dog beyond was alert and possibly dangerous.]
