Re: Where do you think you are?

OOC: Is the dead one the dart wielder or someone else?
OOC: the peep hole is directed to which room?

Ronalt nodded, "Rest Arek. Let us secure the area."
"Has anyone worked out where the dart thrower went?"
Continuing to give orders, "Anyone who can check for magic auras should now while all the gear is in one spot."
"I need some volunteers to stack the dead in the other room so we can rest peacefully."
"Healers get on the beds and rest. We need you hale and healthy."

Re: Where do you think you are?

Sven strode forward with Amathon and laid claim to the evil looking cloak, flicking it about his owm sinister shoulders and admiring the red skulls with a black stare of appraisal.
"Missed the old spiked mail - this'll do." he intoned in a rare glimse into the soul of a man apparently wanting to give the correct first impression.

The tall man smiled at the familiar way his comrade held the falchion and noted "Looks like you know how to use that fancy thing - I hope to see that."

Gwythe scans around the room quickly, and then shakes his head - "no exits." he mutters to no one in particular. Then he'll quickly work his way along the north and then eastern wall, of the new area, searching for a hidden door.

"I think there is a good argument for just getting out of here immediately, Ronalt" said Iviana. "There is a risk which ever way we do it, but life is full of risk. What is clear is that if we wait, we attract a response from the many factions in here that wish to keep the existence of this temples revitalisation secret. If we leave we may get into a fight"

"Given the exit is probably not far from here, why don't our scouts check it out, and if the way is clear, or lightly guarded, we should make haste to move as fast as possible. If the way is blocked, then by all means we should rest up, and the few minutes while we wait for a response from the scouts would make little difference, as we will probably be here for at least 24 hours"

"Yes, I too wish a way out. Rushing will just get us killed." Ronalt replied.
"Finding where the dart thrower disappeared to might just help us get out."
"Besides the surface had all those guardians which got us into this mess to start with."

Re: Where do you think you are?

Sven was still watching Gwythe in anticipation of secret doors and so didn't hear the main conversation.
However, given that his current physical condition was best described as 'mildly exercised' and his enthusiasm for more violence, it would lilely surprise nobody when he volunteered to join the scouts as backup when looking for the exit.

Amathaon did a few practice swings with the falchion. He looked at Sven and replied, "Oh yes, I know how to use a falchion. If we run into any foes, you will see what this weapon can really do. That cloak really suits you my friend."

"Rushing will get us killed. And not moving when we should will get us killed. Life is risk" said Iviana "So let's wait and see what our scouts report"

She settled on a bunk and began to meditate anyway, but she was hoping she was going to be interrupted.

Gwythe punches the wall in frustration. "Well I can't find how he got out."

He pauses to look around the room some more, and then goes to inspect the fireplace, grabbing some bedding and using that to pull the spit out from the fire and pulling it to the side.

He'll then poke around the fireplace to see if it reveals anything. And if that doesn't lead to anything, he'll return to the water fountain and see if that contains an exit.

Sven's new cloak, the leather armour on the dead mans body, his belt pouch, and Amathaon's new falchion (all items came from the same body) all detect as magical.

"Cool cloak, Sven. Hope it's not cursed: it's well magical though." Iviana got up, rather surprised at much magic there was "As is that falchion" she walked over to a dead man's body and kicked the suit of leather armour "this armour." she fumbled in the pouch and looked at see what was inside it that also glowed magical

One of Sven's sunken eyes bulged out at the corpse in the pool of blood "Looks more likely to be cursed than blessed.." he breathed uncomfortably, but still retained the item despite the words. Form over function and all.

Re: Where do you think you are?

When he hears that they have secured the guardrooms and barracks Yew moves Bob and Bill and anyone else still out there back into the western guardroom where the main battle was fought. Then he works out how to secure that guardroom door from inside and locks or bars the door accordingly so no one will be able to come in from the great hall while they are all either resting or escaping. Finally he asks Bob and Bill to take turns keeping watch through the peephole in that door in case anyone does approach from the great hall.

When that entry is secure he turns his attention to the question of finding the exit. He starts by finding out what the prisoners have already told Iviana and the others that questioned them, which seems to amount to ... "Go through Brunk's room, then the barracks and turn left. Can't miss the stairs. Then just keep heading south whenever there's a choice. Only Feldrin and Brunk really know their way around." Brunk was the fleeing orcish one (the dart thrower?).

Yew then turns to the prisoners himself.

"Show us the stairs out of here if you ever want to see daylight and freedom again," he instructs them. "You mentioned two names, too. Feldrin and Brunk. Are they here among the dead or wounded? Was Brunk the dart thrower who ran away when the battle was lost? And who is this last man with his throat cut? Why would he have been murdered in here?"

"You have to pull on the torch to open the door first."
The crossbowman seemed to be the most talkative, the other two being either a bit too tight lipped still, or scared out of their wits.
"Yeah Brunk was the one throwing darts. He likes to poison them first."
"That one with the cut throat, that's Feldrin. He was the leader of this group. Brunk hates him and I wouldn't be surprised if that's his work there."

Re: Where do you think you are?

Yew listened to the informant's information before quickly moving into the other room to pass on the news. He spoke quietly to Iviana and Arek first then told Gwythe and Sven about the torch that opens the secret door.

"Beware of that dart thrower, though. He must be one of their leaders. The prisoners say he is called Brunk and uses poison on those darts he uses."

Then he asks Gwythe, "Is that leather armour better quality than what you wear already? Iviana says it is enchanted."

After thinking for a moment longer he adds, "When you are ready to check out the stairs I will come with you."

In reply to Brother Yew (msg # 368):

"Thanks Brother" Sven nodded his gratitude for the information. He then pulled his crossbow and sat on the bed, cleaning the weapon.

To Gwythe he spoke casually; "Once you're done looting or searching, pull the torch and I'll skewer anybody waiting on the other side. Don't need no poison here."
The words were punctuated by odd mechanical sounds as he worked.

Re: Who do you think you are?

While the spellcasters and their "protectors" settled in to rest, Gwythe's advance scouting party pushed through the secret door to the north revealing a passage lined with double bunks, ten in all. Each has a straw mattress, and two small boxes are tucked underneath, head and foot. Three torches are mounted in wall sconces, but only one, on the south wall, is lit.
A not-very-secret door is in the west wall at the bend in the corridor. Above it, positioned horizontally, is a large beam, studded with sharp spikes. It seems to be fastened to a hinge at the west end, and supported by a cord at the east, which connects to a fastening on the door. None of the bunks block the door or stand below the beam.

Re: Who do you think you are?

Brother Yew headed over to the secret door and inspected the simple trap that had been constructed to injure intruders coming in that way. He intended to disarm it, if possible. Since he could see where it was supposed to swing down he would make sure he stayed clear of its path in case he accidentally triggered it instead.
