Re: Who do you think you are?

Brother Yew, while unable to completely disarm the trap, is able to prevent it from being set off by carefully wrapping a length or wire around the trigger mechanism. It will take a concerted effort and great strength now to activate the beam.

Re: Who do you think you are?

Yew steps back and positions himself opposite the secret door with his crossbow at the ready. Then he waits for Gwythe and Sven to move into position. Presumably one of them will open the door when they are ready.

Re: Who do you think you are?

Sven strolled over to the not so secret door and the waiting monk and likewise pointed his crossbow through the door.
"I'd have expected you to be a little more curious about the lockers" he commented sideways. He shrugged and continued "Though I prefer it this way - more action less waiting."
Two bolts were ready to fly through the door and Sven  quickly made space for Gwythe.

Amathaon went over to the door with Sven. Drawing his falchion, he made ready to rush any enemies that may lurk on the other side of the door.

Gwythe readies his blade and then reaches out and opens the door with his free hand, pushing himself back against the wall as he does so to give Sven a clear field of fire.

"Ronalt," the Prince called softly. "Come here. Let me tend to your wounds."
Touching his bare hands to the rangers skin, Prince Avras Thromel began to pray.

Ronalt obeys the Prince's order, accepting the healing.
"That is much appreciated. I will be able to stand in the battle line again."

Re: Who do you think you are?

"Celenor?" Iviana said as she settled down to meditate. "I have a spell book you can read from if we do decide to rest up instead of getting out quickly." it was obvious that this was quite a big deal to Iviana. A mage's spell book was intensely personal and valuable. It was probably her single most precious item. Even her holy symbol wasn't that important: it was just a symbol, and while she valued the symbol, the item itself wasn't such a big deal.

Then she looked up at Celenor "Just be careful not to call me half-breed. I get a mite touchy about it. Especially" she looked at the Countess "especially when I am putting my life on the line, saving your life, soul and freedom and everything"

Re: Who do you think you are?

"Our purpose is scouting out the exit route, Master Sven," Brother Yew explained softly. "Some of those who wait behind can search through these rooms while we are gone. I do not think it would be wise to allow the one called Brunk any more of a head start in case he decides to organise some unpleasant surprises for us."

Smiling at Iviana comment, "Some of us haven't mingled with many of the other races very much. I thank you for your offer, the next problem is acquiring the ingredients for some of the more complex spells."

"I'll tell you...you get a lot of mileage out of magic missile and sleep. And down here there are more spider's webs than you could ever want for. It's just better having those spells than none." Iviana proffered. She was clearly only upset at the Countess.

She looked around "Anyway... hopefully we will get disturbed before we have a chance to finish resting: I like the idea of doing my next set of mental gymnastics and serious praying back on the surface"

Re: Who do you think you are?

Amathaon and Gwythe open the door with Yew and Sven's crossbows covering them.
This 40' x 50' chamber was evidently one in which new arrivals were hosted to the delights of the Temple; at least, this is what the wall murals depict. A few pieces of battered furniture —  couches, chairs, and stands — remain along the walls. In the centre of the room is a shallow pool, its fountain apparently stopped and the decorative statue, of a minotaur sitting on a throne, much dirtied.
Several skeletons lie about the place, and some odd skulls and bones as well — mostly humans, but some humanoids also. None of the many cressets and walls sconces are lit; no torches remain.

Re: Who do you think you are?

"Go through Brunk's room, then the barracks and turn left. Can't miss the stairs. Then just keep heading south whenever there's a choice." Yew repeats the prisoners' instructions in a soft voice as he tries to relate those instructions to the rooms he has seen so far. He points across the room toward the door near the far left corner.

"That way, I think," he advises.

Re: Who do you think you are?

Gwythe steps inside the door and pauses for a second, taking a brief time to take in the room and the exits.

"That's at least three ways he could have gone now. We're unlikely to find him now."

Nonetheless he walks across the room, keeping near to the wall, and looks down the corridor heading north to see where it leads. Seeing that it turns a corner, he'll walk down to that and look again.

Sven reacted instantly, loosing the ready bolt into the statue's throat in an extremely well practiced motion. The clatter of the loosed weapon on the floor barely preceeded the slick sound of two swords being drawn in tandem.

"Gwythe" he curtly alerted the only other target in the room. "It moved."

Re: Who do you think you are?

OOC: Was that before or after Amathaon turned the door knob? Did anything happen at the door?

Yew's attention is focussed on Amathaon and the door but if nothing is happening there he will respond to Sven's actions appropriately. eg. if Sven's crossbow bolt just bounces off the stone minotaur statue Yew won't shoot but if Sven wounded it Yew will shoot twice with the crossbow of speed, as long as none of his own allies are in the line of fire.

Re: Who do you think you are?

A deep, throaty, bovine bellow of pain and anger reverberates around the chamber so loudly it is clearly heard by those left in the barracks. Dirt and dust pours from the minotaur as it swiftly responds to Sven's bolt, lashing out with it's massive flail and springing to butt the walking corpse in the face!

That'll be initiative please. It will take everyone but Amathaon, Yew, Sven and Gwythe at least a round to arrive. Also note spell casters are unlikely to be currently wearing armour (those that have it) due to the intention to rest (hard to sleep with plate armour digging into your ribs).
