Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Aradhel and Cyrus receive an additional note from the Lord Mayor of Magnimar a few days before their dinner:

quote:
It is desirable that you provide a service to the Lord Mayor involving a journey and adventure. If you wish to acquire additional traveling companions to accompany you on this journey, please do so before you arrive.

As it happens, two old friends of yours arrived in town days before and made contact with you...

Archimedes and Tanlis, we can assume you are at minimum friends of Cyrus' from back in Sandpoint Introduce your characters and how you managed to find Cyrus in Magnimar. If you need ideas, feel free to PM me.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Tanlis had the dream again, and he knew he had to be here. While foretelling was not one of his gifts-the land had needs. When it needed him to act, it would communicate to him with images and sounds in dreams. Not in words of course-the land did not actually 'speak'. It was more like a massive beast, and all the living creatures upon it where much like fleas.

He held his staff, and leaned on it as he moved through town. The others where here, and he needed to find them. He would need their help to deal with whatever was coming, but to what that was he could not tell from the dream...

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Archimedes had spent  the last two hours waist deep in rubbish next to the merchants shop. he'd been given permission by the owner to look through the cast offs as long as he didn't make too much of a mess and anything he found he could keep.

So now at the top of a very unstable pile of bits and pieces the little inventor had finally found the cog he needed, along with a few other things he thought he might need at a later date.

Unfortunately the cog was attached to something that was stuck in the pile of rubbish. Planting both feet firmly in the rubbish he took hold and pulled, it wouldn't budge so he pulled harder, suddenly it all gave way and in a wave of rubbish Archimedes rolled out of the alley and into the street being deposited unceremoniously on his butt.

He looked round with a big smile on his face and the cog held triumphantly in his hand. Pulling himself up he brushed himself down though dirt still clung to most of him. Just then he noticed a figure coming out of the merchants shop and realised it was Aradhel from home....

Running after her " Aradhel, Aradhel its me Archimedes....man am I glad to finally see a friendly face in this city" he shouted as he came level  with the young woman " what on earth are you doing here? back home they said you and Cryus went off one day never to return....What have you both been up to?....come tell all....its so good to see you alive" he said with a wide infectious grin on his face.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Aradhel, clad in her newly acquired and more form fitting leather armor, looked down.  She wasn't used to being taller than anybody here lately.

Her mind wandered for a moment, trying to place the overly excited newcomer.  Subconsciously, she had her hands on the hilts of her swords, there'd be a great call to use them lately.

Her demeanor was as it ever was.  She came off as standoffish, aloof and arrogant without even meaning to be, having never quite bridged the cultural divide even if she had eventually learned to speak the language fluently enough.

"Cyrus is right here.  Several of us left.  I'm not surprised they did not inform you."

Aradhel paused and looked to Cyrus, who as he sometimes did lagged behind a bit.

"Cyrus... was he on the list?"

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
"What list?" Cyrus asked as he came up slowly and then leaned on his staff for support. His leg was feeling especially troublesome this day. Somehow through the mysteries of magic and cosmic balancing, the ring that would allow him to ignore the pain of new injuries only managed to cause his crippled leg more pain. This was an injury that lingered despite the efforts of Sandport's most talented healers; the universe simply wanted him this way. At least he didn't have unsightly warts or gnarled hands like other witches.

He looked to the gnomish man Aradhel was talking to and it took him several moments to recognize him as someone he should know but he could not remember the name.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
"Cyrus." Tanlis called out, walking from the nearby streets. Sure enough-as the dream fortold-the other man was there. "I have come to assist you. You...seem injured?" He asked, glancing at the man as he leaned heavily on his own staff. Tanlis's own walking stick was held easily at his side by comparison.

Tanlis's own pursuits as crossed Cryus's magic research at one point. While his power differed from the other man as Cryus was no druid, certain elements crossed over in both of their research. They had spoken briefly about it over a meal, but realized that they way they tapped into the same wellspring of magic was too different to be easily combined. However, the notes they had shared proved somewhat useful to both.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
"Oh! That list," Cyrus said. "Who is on it? Him?" Cyrus was now playing with her. (Referring to Archimedes)

"Tanlis!" Cyrus said joyfully because he managed to remember someone's name. "I am always injured."

It was a tale that he had undoubtedly told everyone who asked, about how, as a young lad working on the docks of Sandport repairing a fishing net, his leg became pinned and crushed between the boat and the dock. After failing to find healers to fix the mangled limb, he came under the care and later tutorage of the woman who was to teach him the ways of witchcraft. His gimpy leg was a constant reminder of the path fate had laid out for him.

"I'm sorry, but have you met Aradhel?"

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
In reply to Cyrus Weaver (msg # 8):

Tanlis raises an eyebrow-as Cyrus was moving a bit slower than normal. Lame leg or no, Tanlis' trained healer's eyes suggested that Cyrus had suffered other, more recent injuries.

When Cyrus introduces Aradhel, he gives her a formal bow in the elven way. He had met some of 'his' people in his travels as druid. While none of them cared much for Tanlis for obvious reasons-the elves where almost always grateful to see an active druid in their forests. Even a unclean half breed.

"Greetings Lady Aradhel." He said to her.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Aradhel seemed amused by this.  It was novel after all this time.

"Greetings.  It seems we are beset by the suspiciously familiar at a strange time.  Cyrus was just explaining our recent circumstances to avoid my slapping him in the head."

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
"Oh, Dear lady...please dont let me stop you. No matter what Cyrus' s condition,  I am a firm beliver that a slight smack on the head can only improve his thinking." Tanlis said while he smirked.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
"Well, after losing blood to my brain from being choked by a judge, I am afraid that I do not have my full wits about me." Cyrus rubbed his throat. His windpipe took several days to heal after being partially crushed. He couldn't swallow properly for a week. "And it wasn't even because I as sleeping with his mistress," he laughed.

"For example, I cannot remember your name, sir," he said to the odd man. "My apologizes, for my memory is full of names for the fairer sex, I do not always remember those of men. Except Tanlis, here. Not that I'm disparaging his manliness, mind you. But he is an elf. Well, half-elf. So that's something." Cyrus wondered how far he could take this before Aradhel finally did smack him.

Chapter 7: In the Hook's Shadow
Archemides gave the man with the limp a smile " Archimedes Fallows at your service" He said with a low bow, his many strange attachments jingling slightly with the movement.

"My father is the blacksmith in Sandpoint and I would still be there apart from the fact I needed to get some elements for my new invention that I could not get from the traders that passed through so thought I might try my luck here" he held up a bunch of what looked like scrap metal with a cog on it and smiled  " As you can see it was not a failed adventure" looking very pleased with his find
