Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
The temptation was to run off and go help, but there was something inside the door Aradhel was guarding.  She hated it, but she held her position, ready to strike.  The alternative was the ogre opening the door and either flanking them or escaping or doing who knows what else.

Going on Hold I suppose!

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
The ogre that Jereth hit looks confused, almost as if Jereth had done something unexpected by attacking him!

Next round is up! Jereth, you go before the enemy.

Aradhel, the next card you drew is a Black Joker! When you come off hold, you get +2 to all rolls and can automatically interrupt any enemies.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick

Jereth stepped back into position from his lunge and let his shield drop away to the side.  This cleared the path for him to whip the longsword up from low to high in a heavy under-cut towards the ogre's midsection....

Wild Attack - 18 to Hit, 13 Damage (after remembering the +2 from Wild)

Parry falls to 6

1:39, Today: Jereth rolled 6,5 using 2d8+1,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,4,5. Longsword Slash Damage, with Raise!

21:38, Today: Jereth rolled 18,6 using d10+4,d6+4, rerolling max with rolls of (10+4)14,2. Wild Longsword Slash!

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Jereth's blow winds the ogre for a moment, but he recovers quickly.

Meanwhile, the door in front of Aradhel flies open. The lathes, sawhorses, and other tools in this workroom lie in scattered, shattered ruin on the floor. The walls are smeared with gore, in some places forming messy graffiti. An ogre, his hands stained with blood, roars and prepares to smash Aradhel. Unfortunately for him, Aradhel is ready first...

Aradhel, you can re-insert and deal with this ogre if you like. Remember: you have +2 to ALL ROLLS (including damage) this round.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
"And here I did not think you would come out to play."  Aradhel uncharacteristically quipped.  Effortlessly she swayed as if dancing and her swords obeyed.

All right, I am going to press the Joker to its maximum here, obviously she is interrupting the ogre.  Aradhel will Wild Attack (+2) with the Joker (+2) but will also go for a Head Shot (-4).  More likely it would be a Vitals shot for the same penalty but that's gross so let's call it a Head Shot.

20:17, Today: Aradhel rolled 7,9 using d12+1,d6+1, rerolling max with rolls of 6,(6+2)8.  Right Hand.

Hit with the Right Hand.

20:18, Today: Aradhel rolled 3,11 using d12,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,(6+5)11.  Left Hand.

Hit with the Left Hand.  With a Raise even, I do believe.

So +2 damage from Wild Attack, +2 from a Joker, +4 from a Headshot for +8 damage.

13 damage - 20:19, Today: Aradhel rolled 10,3 using d8+9,d8, rerolling max with rolls of 1,3.  Damage - Right Hand.  Not a very good roll but the bonus is so big it probably still hurt.

29 damage - 20:20, Today: Aradhel rolled 15,5,9 using d8+8,d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,5,(6+3)9.  Damage - Left Hand.  That's gonna leave a mark.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Aradhel slices into the ogre, leaving him with wounds that would have killed a smaller humanoid. He staggers back a bit and then grips his weapon--a disembodied human arm--defiantly!

Meanwhile, a door slams open from around the corner and an ogre appears. With one powerful blow of his club, he knocks Koram's head to the other side of the hallway, landing at Aradhel's feet. He roars in victory at his kill!

Aradhel's wild card ogre uses both his Bennies to Soak and re-roll the Soak; he soaks down from 5 wounds to 3. He manages to un-shake despite his wound penalty.

Two more ogres enter the hallway; one rounds the corner and auto-kills Koram. Bye, Koram. The other can't move further.

Bella and Tanlis are up!

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Tanlis zipps around the corner, and sees all the ogres about-and Koram fall. He grits his teeth, and bangs his staff on the floor. Rising from the stone of the corridor floor just in front of Bella, and stone man with a rocky weapon rises from the ground. Not as powerful as the tree Golem, its size stays in the human range, and thus is able to engage the ogre threatening Bella and Jereth.

OOC:
Moves to current position.

Casts summon ally, stone solider appears in space west of Bella and in front of Ogre.

10:28, Today: Tanlis Half-elven rolled 5,1 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 5,1.  Spell casting.

Stone solider does a wild attack on ogre.

10:34, Today: Tanlis Half-elven rolled 5 using 1d8+3, rerolling max with rolls of 2.  Stone solider does wild attack on ogre with gang up bonus.

Size of target pushes it to a 6, allowing just barley a hit.

10:36, Today: Tanlis Half-elven rolled 10 using 2d8, rerolling max with rolls of 4,6.  Stone sword damage.

Damage not enough.

The ogre affected by Bella recoils in fear at this "stone god."

The ogre near Bella rolls a 1 in opposition to Bella, so he's Shaken by her Trick.

New round--Aradhel and Bella go before the foes.

I added labels to the ogre minis. Here's their status:
Ogre 1: Unshaken
Ogre 2: Shaken
Ogre 3: Unshaken
Wild Card: 3 Wounds,  unshaken

Silvijabella pressed her advantage; empathy and concern in her voice, she pleaded with the wary Ogre, "Flee quickly!  Flee before the Great One expresses his anger with you for slaying his pet Lizardman!!!"  She frantically gestured back down the corridor from whence the Ogre had emerged.  "RUN YOU FOOL!" she exclaimed.

(Persuasion attempt against anothe Ogre.
17:58, Today: Silvijabella rolled 5,3 using d6+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 3,1.  Smarts with Charisma bonus attempt against Ogre.
As expected, the die roller doesn't work for me…. Oh well, it's a success at least.)

Aradhel was facing a mighty foe she could not let up on and windmilled around with her spinning blades.  It left you open, but there was a lot of power in the technique.  She just hoped her speed would carry her here.  Aradhel believed very much in the old adage speed kills.

19:54, Today: Aradhel rolled 5,7 using d12+3,d6+3, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4.  Attack - Right Hand.

19:54, Today: Aradhel rolled 4,4 using d12+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 2,2.  Attack - Left Hand.

Bah, benny that

19:55, Today: Aradhel rolled 8,5 using d12+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 6,3.  Benny That Roll!

Okay two hits

9 damage - I don't know if that even tickles these guys - 19:57, Today: Aradhel rolled 7,2 using d8+3,d8, rerolling max with rolls of 4,2.  Damage - Right Hand.

9 damage - 19:57, Today: Aradhel rolled 5,4 using d8+2,d8, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4.  Damage - Left Hand

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
The ogre fighting Jereth recoils in fear at the sound of Bella's voice--something worse than the human warrior in front of him? What could it be?

Meanwhile, the ogre fighting Aradhel snarls and swings at Aradhel, but his club smashes through the doorway instead, dislodging stone. The pain of his wounds clearly is making him far less effective.

Aradhel also Shakes ogre #1 with her Trick. WC Ogre misses Aradhel.

Tanlis, you and your stone man are up before the non-wild-card ogres!

As the ogre reels back from the burst of fire, Jereth came in low, dropping his shield to the side as he drove the longsword up towards the big ogre's gut.  He hoped for a kidney.  A liver would do.  Even distracted, the ogre managed to knock the blade out of line....

Wild Called Shot to Ogre 3 - 2 Misses, Benny!, 5 Still misses....

Parry reduced to 6.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Aradhel continued her relentless assault.  She had to keep the initiative in this fight.  The ogres might be comparatively slow but they could strike powerful blows at any moment, and she felt like she'd lose if it became an endurance bout.

09:33, Today: Aradhel rolled 7,3 using d12+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 5,1.  Attack - Left Hand.

09:33, Today: Aradhel rolled 13,4 using d12+3,d6+3, rerolling max with rolls of 10,1.  Attack - Right Hand.

So, hit, hit with raise (on the right hand), but will the damage dice tank?

11 damage - 09:34, Today: Aradhel rolled 5,4,2 using d8+3,d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,4,2.  Damage - Right Hand.

12 damage - 09:35, Today: Aradhel rolled 5,7 using d8+2,d8, rerolling max with rolls of 3,7.  Damage - Left Hand.

Statistically averageish at least!

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Seeing the opponent in  corridor was distracted, the Gypsy moves towards the doorway to put the Ogre facing Jereth off-balance in the face of multiple hazards.   Moving quickly alongside Jereth, 'Bella let fly her twin stars, each ricocheting off the side walls and the opposing far wall of the chamber in an apparent chaotic pattern that could potentially hit the Ogre from behind if he were unwary.  The blades would fly close to the creature, but ultimately miss him as they returned to her hands, unless he were very clumsy.  Her blades returning to her hands, she moved back to her original spot in the hall to allow Aradhel access to the door.

Adding to her ploy, the Elf yells instructions to the imaginary hidden assailants on the Ogre's flank,  "Shalelu! Jakardros!  Strike from his flanks while we face him!"

(Trying an Agility Trick to put the Ogre 1 off balance and more vulnerable to those in melee with him.  (-2 Parry if fails, -2 Parry & Shaken if she beats him with a Raise.  The verbal was just for fun… )
13:09, Today: Silvijabella rolled 7,2 using d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 7,2.  Agility Trick vs Ogre 3 hoping to distract.  If the Acrobatics bonus to Agility Tricks applies, that's a 9.  If not, if the stars' bonus to Throwing would apply it's an 8.

edited so not to layer Tricks on hallway Ogre)
