Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Tanlis wished he could commicate with the beasts. However, they may be too magically altered for the normal rapport some druids had with animals. He prepares his magic to interrupt their attack...

(OOC-Doing a ready action. Planning on disrupting lizard's electrical attack.)

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Archimedes dropped his hand from the button I'm his backpack and instead unslung his sticky gun. He pulled the leaver back and readied a load of gunk.

He waited to see what the others did and for an opening to shoot it at one of the lizards

In reply to The Runelord (msg # 72):

Tanlis gestures with his staff, summon a small amount of water to suddenly drench one of the electrical lizards...

Ooc-using elemental manipulation to create water as its electrical attack starts up. It's basically a trick attack,  as the water may disrupt the electricity. Or if it manages to shake the lizard via normal trick attempt, it's won't be able to attack.

00:39, Today: Tanlis Half-elven rolled 9,4 using 1d10,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 9,4.  elemental manipulation to do trick effect to interrupt attack.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
In reply to The Runelord (msg # 74):

OOC-Elemental manipulation does not do damage normally-its just a trick maneuver done via magic. If I get a raise, the lizard is shaken.

That being said, here is the damage roll:

10:28, Today: Tanlis Half-elven rolled 2,3 using 1d4,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 2,3.  Possible damage.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
The lizards croak; being too stupid to understand Jereth's intended taunts, they nevertheless perceive him as the biggest, shiniest edible thing in the room and spring at him. As they do, Tanlis splashes water on the electrical gland of one of the lizards; it loses its concentration as it bounces off of Jereth's arm.  Jereth, for his part, takes a shock, but shrugs it off.

The other lizard attacks Jereth, but the warrior is able to beat it back handily.

Lizard1 was Shaken by Tanlis' spell; it fails to un-shake. Jereth also could have taken damage, being that he's wearing metal armor, but the damage was only 5 with no net effect. Lizard 2 just misses Jereth.

Jereth, Aradhel and Archimedes, actions? The NPCs are staying hidden for the moment.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
That's exactly what Aradhel was waiting for.  A little part of her felt guilty constantly using Jereth as the bulwark for her maneuvers, but only a little part, and only a little guilty.

She bolted out of the darkness, silent and violent.  <The spider claims its prey.>

I forgot the Wild Attack modifier.

13:18, Today: Aradhel rolled 13,12 using d12+4,d6+4, rerolling max with rolls of 9,(6+2)8.  Off Hand with Drop.

13:17, Today: Aradhel rolled 10,8 using d12+5,d6+5, rerolling max with rolls of 5,3.  Main Hand With Drop.

Main Hand - 12 after Wild Attack, off Hand 15 after WA

18 total - 13:20, Today: Aradhel rolled 9,5,4 using d8+6,d8+1,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,4,4.  Strength with WA/Drop, Sword, Raise.

Not sure if that ends a lizard, so apply second attack as makes sense:

12 total with the off hand -
13:21, Today: Aradhel rolled 9,2,1 using d8+6,d8,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2,1.  Strength with WA/Drop, Sword, Raise.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick

The sparking pop and crackle gave Jereth an awful feeling about how much this was going to hurt.  But, as Aradhel dived in, the guardsman followed with his own slower heavy blade.  Hammer and anvil.

  To Hit - 8, Damage - 15

Parry Reduced to 4

15:17, Today: Jereth rolled 15 using 2d8+2, rerolling max with rolls of 6,7. Wild Sword Damage! 15:14, Today: Jereth rolled 8,7 using d10+2,d6+2, rerolling max with rolls of 6,5. Wild Attack!

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Aradhel pops in and slays not one but both lizards in a single movement!

As she does, two more lizards proceed down the tunnel at the group! Jereth engages and slays one of them, splitting its skull; Tanlis then traps the other one, which croaks in protest. It rips itself free from the mound of sticky gunk with some effort...

The remaining lizard made its STR check to break free of the Entangle.

Next round: Archimedes goes before the lizard! What do you do, Archimedes?

Archimedes crouched and brought forth his hip flask chucking it into the middle of the fight as it hit the ground it expanded into the huge metal golem "attack the lizards" instructed the little invented to his creation. Where upon the metal monster brought down a huge fist onto one of them.

With a crackling SPLAT, the lizard is crushed by Archimedes' golem-friend.

With the golem guarding the entrance, the party is free to search the chamber uninhibited...

Notice checks while you search--if some want to assist others, say so.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
With a bit of searching, Jereth finds the camoflaged boxes you're looking for, which, when opened, contain vials of the sleep poison you are seeking.

Shalelu shows you all how to cover your blades in the poison safely, though you think it may take a bit of caution to avoid nicking yourselves in the process.

Let me know how many weapons you want to coat in the goo.

I would also like at least one more Notice roll from the party from someone besides Jereth.

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick

Jereth paid very close attention to the application lesson.  He'd never had much call for such potions, but the description of its effectiveness seemed to be a very useful thing for a handful of adventurers attempting to take a fortress.  From ogres.  He looked about for the former Rannick men and or the ghost, "Where do these caves let out in the fortress?"

Jereth will be happy to apply the sleeping poison to his blade.  If we put it on now, will it wear off before we get to the ogres, or do we wait till we are closer?

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Archimedes looked at the potions wondering if he could modify his sticky gun to shoot them at targets.
He too was concerned that they were putting a sleeping potion into blades and wondered what was gained by injuring someone just to put them to sleep

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Archimedes also spots a concealed doorway toward the back of the cave. He also hears a hissing and growling from beyond the entrance. It does not seem to be growing closer.

The Black Fist members nod at Aradhel's words and, rather than coating their weapons, start shoving vials into their belts. The exception is Shalelu's father, who also lets her show him how to coat his weapon.

Archimedes failed to roll, but I rolled for him.
15:46, Today: The Runelord, on behalf of Archimedes Fallows, rolled 1,5 using 1d6,1d6, rerolling max with rolls of 1,5.  Notice.

Aradhel does remember correctly--this stuff can be thrown as "gas grenades" as well as be applied to your weapons. Glad someone caught that.

Archimedes, make a Weird Science check.

And everyone else, what do you do?

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Aradhel has mixed feelings about coating weapons, and whether it's honorable under the circumstances.  She veers on the side of caution and opts out, though she takes a single phial.

"Shall I reconnoiter the passage?  I won't go far."

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Jereth places three of the vials carefully into a belt pouch.  Ready to coat or throw when the time is right.  To Aradhel, he nods, "Yes.  Shalelu as well?"  He gave the scout a questioning look, not commanding just pointing out the opportunity this time.  Then back to Aradhel,  "We'll be ready to follow when you give us the signal."

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Aradhel creeps forward and peeks down this little tunnel. She finds a small tunnel leading to a bigger chamber where there are no fewer than ten shocker lizards. A couple of them are sniffing around in your direction but are not attacking--yet.

Shalelu sneaks up behind Aradhel and nods at Aradhel's knowing look, moving back to the party.

As she does, the ghost appears for the first time in a few minutes. He puts his finger to his mouth, indicating quiet, points to the crate and then to the exit.

The Black Fists nod and grab the crate--they look at Jereth, clearly requesting his help silently.

What do you all do?

Re: Chapter 8: Retaking Rannick
Tanlis stays ready, waiting for a signal to be called forward. Granted he could change into a rat, but that would not last long and Aradhel seemed to have the scouting well in hand.
