"I AM GROOT!" Came the typical reply to Rocket.

Groot Proceeded to grow to a towering height, and spun about-tossing a large orb of writing plant matter at the fleet. If it strikes, it will not do any harm to the very durable spaceships. Instead it will keep growing, trying to impair the fleet.

Re: ACT ONE:  FIRST CONTACT (ACTION):  Battle for Xandar
Gamora, still dripping with gore from her rout of the drone soldiers, just barely manages to get the Nova uniform on before Kl'rt blows a giant hole in the habitat dome where they were fighting. The rush of air from the rapidly decompressing habitat blows debris around the area where Gamora was fighting and even starts to pick up several of the giant insect pieces littering the ground near her. As the fighters swoop lower for their strafing run, Gamora leaps straight at one, her cybernetically enhanced body and the rush of decompressing air taking her much further than a human could possibly jump. She twists in midair, to try to slash at the underbody of the fighter as it flies past her at the apex of her trajectory. The fighter is ready for her, though, and alters course, leaving her exposed to be blasted by its wingman.

The Nova armor takes the brunt of the attack, but it blows Gamora back, sending her smashing into the ground on her back.

Rocket speeds through the calculations for a hasty hyperspace exit.  As he shouts over the loudspeakers he finishes up the calculations.  They're quick, dirty and he figures there's about a 12% chance that they'll bounce into a star, but it's better than being here.  Now he just has to convince the rest of the gang that it's time to go.

Groot's "tangle bomb" strikes the hull of one of the vessels, seemingly without effect at first.  However, after a few seconds it begins to expand, roots forcing themselves into the organic hull.  An accelerated bloom results in numerous spores erupting and being ejected towards the other vessels in the fleet infecting other vessels and beginning the process all over again.

(Reaction to Wave fighter attack. Sorry my back went out and was only on my phone so no DR)

Kl'rt laughs as the vacuum starts to tug at him, "Come now Lyja your companion has the right idea, but not our genetics. Allow me to entertain them with the power of Throneworld and her Super-Skrull!" With that he leaps letting the vacuum take him, as he goes his body slowly turns to the rocky orange of the Thing as he cackles swatting at the fighters as they are forced to bank to try to avoid the moving asteroid.

Disgusted at herself for failing to reach the fighters with her leap, Gamora steps hard on a rifle, using a dead bug's arm as a fulcrum to make it flip up into her hand. After a quick scan to figure out how the weapon works, she starts firing on a group of fighters that's banking around to attack Kl'rt from the rear.

Dodging Gamora's fire puts the fighters out of position for Drax's fire and a few bursts from the working space defense cannon that he has found destroy enough of them to send them into retreat.

Looking around you, their mission of annihilation seems to be mostly complete in any case as the habitat cluster slowly begins to spin out of control and it's clear that it and other portions of the Cluster are being pulled into one of the system suns.

Kl'rt floats there for a second willing the wounds caused by the ships to close so he doesn't bleed out into space as his body slowly turns back to normal. As he floats he looks at all the debris before flying to where he left Lyja, "I think its time for us to find some transport. We might can survive out here for a time and I can fly pretty fast using Torch's flame but air is in short supply. Hop on and we'll rejoin your pet."

If she does as he asks or pretty much order and hop onto his back he'll fly to pick up Gamora and get the three of them as quickly as he can to some form of transport.

Re: ACT ONE:  FIRST CONTACT (ACTION):  Battle for Xandar
The bulk of the alien fleet, having crushed the Nova Corps fleet and savaged the Xandar Cluster, clusters around the alien dreadnought.  The vast vessel is still obviously scarred from Firelord's solar flare though the massive breach on the ship's hull actually appears to be oozing some sort of fluid or ichor which clots over the "wound".  The flagship and much of the fleet then exit the system.

Left behind is a much smaller force of vessels that seem to be performing "mop up" duties on the remaining damaged vessels.  On the scattered chunks of the Xandar Cluster, the alien invaders seem to have regrouped and are beginning a more systematic purge of any survivors. They also appear to be searching for...something.

[OOC:  Alright, we'll be out of rounds at this point.  We'll say that Super-Skrull, Lyja and Gamora are able to safely hook up with Rocket, Groot and Drax on the transport.  I'll start up the next scene sometime tomorrow, but I'll leave this one open for a few more days if anyone has anything else they'd like to post here.0

If there are remnants of the enemy fleet, Drax is prepared to eliminate them. Even if they are not the ones who are directly responsible for the massacre, if they are associated with those murderers then they can pay. However, Drax knows prudence and he realizes that it could be valuable to ascertain what it is they are looking for (though assuming that it is something that can used in combat). Drax makes his way toward the remaining fleet to investigate. [Or, if he is in the ship with the others than he'll look out from it].

Drax can see the remaining ships of the alien fleet finishing off the remnants of the Nova Corps ships from the transport.  Although there are likely few survivors on the ruined and scattered chunks of the Cluster, the insectoid hordes make short work of any that they find.  Although he can tell that they are engaged in a clean-up massacre, he can't determine any other motives they may have.

Re: ACT ONE:  FIRST CONTACT (ACTION):  Battle for Xandar
Groot looks out at the little girl, and the other people screaming in terror. His hands form claw-like gestures, and he seems to focus on the distant fleet. Despite its best effort with its energy weapons, it is still overgrown with the strange alien plantlife.

Groot starts to glow a bright green as spores come off of him.

"I..."

The plant life in every possible opening of the fleet shares in the green glow.

"...AM..."

Groot seems to get smaller, but the grasping, twisting, and constricting vines that cover the fleet grow to massive size. Soon the fleet will be blocked from sight, and they may not be able to move, usse sensors, or possible even communicate with their fighters. Even the weapons systems which blow holes in parts of the massive plants risk damaging themselves due to the fact they are firing at point blank range.

"...GROOOOOOOOOOT!"

As if that was not enough, the plants seemed to have Groot's toughness and ability to heal. Thus possibly being the ideal foil for the fleet of universal destruction...

"FINE! Ok? Happy now?" Rocket said over the loudspeaker. He flies the ship down after everybody but Groot gets on board. He does a 'drive by' to scoop the weakened plant-creature up in the ship's remote opened airlock-and shuts the door. The prison transport zips away from the planet-now that the rest of the team are on board, and Rocket starts the hyperspace jump calculations he had made on the fly.

"Keep whatever lucky limbs ya got crossed!!" He says to those aboard-and begins to attempt the getaway...

The vines quickly and completely spread over the bulk of the fleet.  Within moments, the bulk of the vessels are nearly solid masses of plant growth and completely inoperable.  The handful of remaining Xandarian transport ships, many suffering heavy damage, manage to evade the few remaining vessels and escape from the system.

Safely aboard their old Kyln transport, Gamora's nose twitches. Even through the mixture of bug and Centurion gore saturating her stolen uniform, she could smell the stench of the Kyln.

Before Rocket can hit the transluminal button, Gamora puts a hand gently on his shoulder. "Wait. The fleet is disabled. We don't have to leave so urgently. There are still people on what's left down there, and those bugs seem to be searching for something. We should find it first and deny them."

Then she turns to Kl'rt and gets right up in his face. "First and last warning. I'm nobody's pet, you son of a schma'ag!"

Kl'rt nods, "The only thing of real worth left would be perhaps hidden escape ships...or the Worldmind itself." He smirks at Gamora a hand reaching up to slide down her cheek, "I believe I refered to you as a companion. Your skills are far to impressive to waste. If I decide to become a warlord I'll invite you and Lyja to be their combat master."

Rocket was very focused on piloting, and paused as he was about to make the jump when Gamora stopped him. "Why? We have to go! All those civvies are doing the smart thing and bugging the frack outta here! Groot's trick is not gonna last forever!" He pointed out, but then the Super Skrull and her started arguing.

"Ahem! Hello!? This is your pilot speaking!" He loudly complained. "Fine, you wanna vote-we can vote! Who is for staying alive for the next few hours? Huh? Anybody?" He said, jumping up on the back of the the pilot's chair and waving his hand around.

Lyja shakes her head.  "That's enough of that and from the both of you!  We need to work together if we're gonna survive this!"  She mutters something under her breath that sounds like "...Ben and Johnny..." before turning to Rocket.  "Whether there are survivors or not, those bugs are looking for something and whatever it is it can't be good for us...", she turns to Kl'rt, "...or what's left of the Skrull Empire.  I say that we try to find out what it is and keep them from getting it."  She smiles an almost feral smile.  "I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm tired of running from these things or getting my ass kicked by these things everywhere I go.  Let's take something from them for a change."

Almost as if on cue, those of you wearing the Corps helmets pick up what sounds like the steady beeping of some sort of distress signal...
