Re: Chapter 2

In reply to GM (msg # 670):

Titus smiles.

A wise position.  I wholeheartedly agree.  What is your name?

He gestures back to Brennan to lower his bow.

You can't understand him?  He can understand you... he will allow us to clear his cart so long as we prove to be peaceful.

Enrei, come with me, lets push this man's cart.

Re: Chapter 2

"I know how to speak like you," Enrei hyperbolizes, " and I know how to speak like Chal'i.  I do not know how to speak like him," Enrei explains as he accompanies Titus to move the cart.  "If he understand to speak like me why does he not?" Enrei asks curiously as he sets to heft the cart out of whatever it's stuck on.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 673):

The man remains rigid, but moves his hand so that his cloak falls over his axe.  He returns it to his belt and crosses his arms.

Now that you are closer, you can see that he has not many small tattoos on his face, but one large tattoo that creeps up his neck on one side, winds about his head and disappears down into his cloak.  It seems to be a depiction of a winding river, complete with marks along it such that it might be a stylized map of some kind.

"Salzar," he replies simply.  Your assumption is that this is his name.

He narrows his eyes and speaks to Brennan in a strange tongue.

He finally lowers his arms and moves out of the way, allowing Enrei and Titus to carefully maneuver around his cart to get behind it.

Between Enrei's strength, Titus' guidance, and the man coaxing his ass, you are able to get the cart freed from the roots.

It is another careful process to get your own horses around his wagon, but with teamwork it is soon done.

The man turns to you, thinks for a moment, then speaks to Brennan again.

He gestures to his wagon.

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to GM (msg # 674):

Brennan smiles and converses pleasantly with the man in a dry, exotic language.

After some time, he switches to the common tongue and talks to the others.

"Our friend has offered to let us examine his goods, and perhaps negotiate some purchases. I've agreed to have a look."

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 675):

The man nods sternly.  He climbs up into his cart and begins to unpack and uncover some items.  While he works, he speaks with Brennan.

Finally, he has an assortment of items laid out.

Laid before you are:

- Several small casks of a dark substance the consistency of honey.  This is a crushed fruit extract from Nor.

- Several well-packed bottles of something that smells like pure alcohol but looks reddish.

- A small vial that, as Brennan translates for you, is filled with a terrible venom from a creature native to Nor.  It can be used directly or applied to blades.

- A small clay device that, once again Brennan will have to translate, is similar to the explosive device Uldaf gave Titus earlier.

- Several quills (for writing) of exceptional quality.

- A fist-sized chunk of amber.

- Several types and shapes of seashell

- a few necklaces made of the same

-Tools, as Brennan explains, for creating tattoos.

- An Ahlspiess

- A Goedendag

"Do I get another horse if I pay him?" Enrei inquires as he comes to investigate.  Looking over the presented goods he points at the shells, "Where are these from?"

((OOC is the amber finished or cut or whatever you call amber for jewelry, or just a natural-looking broken off chunk?))

Re: Chapter 2

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 681):

The amber is not cut, it's just a big hunk.

As translated via Brennan:

The shells are from a small rocky beach in Nor (to Enrei, they are indeed visibly different from those of Chal'i or the Kingdom's shores).

The fruit, is indeed for eating.

The vials of poison cost 3 pennies.  The Nor assures you it is quick, painless and very very deadly.  Not like those "time-wasting poisons you have here".

Re: Chapter 2

"Maybe is alcohol," Enrei again tries to assist Titus without troubling their new friend, "How much for these?" he indicates the necklaces.  After a thoughtful pause Enrei gets an expression that on anyone else might imply they had just had a clever idea, "This is from Nor too?  How much?" he points at the amber.

In reply to Brennan Otthild (msg # 686):

Translated via Brennan:

Each necklace (he has a dozen or so) will cost 30 silver Suns.  He explains the shells are rare and of very good quality.

The red stuff that smells like alcohol is alcohol.  Something stronger than wine.

The chunk of amber costs 2 Gold Crowns

I'll take 3 vials of poison.

He asks as if purchasing a melon...

How many doses are in a single vial?

/ooc is he going the opposite direction of us?

Also I hate you for making the red stuff that smells like alcohol... alcohol./ooc

::Translated Through Brennan::

The merchant asks 5 pennies for the tattoo kit.  He explains that he had a partner at one point who could actually use it.  As that partner is now dead, he has little use for it (but recognizes it's value).

The merchant allows Enrei to select the nicest of the loose shells.  He shrugs and asks 2 pennies for it.

Re: Chapter 2

Enrei takes two shells and pays theNor four pennies quite happily (or more accurately, he takes one shell, pays two pennies and then repeats the process, the concept of a sum total being far too inconvenient).  After the final exchange is made Enrei grabs the Nor's hand in his own, "Thank you Salzar.  You are very nice man." he proclaims as he shakes the other man's hand vigorously.
