Slipping into her cabin Adriannah spent three hours working out, showered and changed, then meditated for another three hours.

Securing the access panel, against unauthorized entry, Adriannah relaxed in her cabin watched some clips then driffed off to sleep.

Arc had been going over some medical reports, updating the crew's files, the usual paperwork when you hit a new starport.

He sat back from the computer terminal, stretched and then went looking for the crew, only to find that most of them had left the ship in search of FOOD, and, no doubt, drink, too.

He saw that Adriannah hadn't gone with them, though, so he swung by her quarters.

"Yo, Adriannah," he called out through the door as he rapped on it. "Sure you wouldn't like to step out a bit, grab some grub and a drink or two, maybe get into some mischief?"

Something roused her opening one eye Adriannah glanced about the dimly lit cabin. She thought she heard a voice. Pard... Pardon. she asked

He wasn't sure he heard a response from Adriannah, so he tapped on the door again and called out.

"It's Arc! Are you in there, Adriannah?"

Being the medic, if not quite a full-fledged doctor, he couldn't help wonder if she was all right. He could always use his medical override to open the door.

Adriannah ona's eyes snapped open she had heard a voice. Just a moment please. she called springing from her bunk and hurriedly tidying herself and the cabin up. Bang, clang, thud, phuff, phuff, patter. Opening the hatch Adriannah greeted Arc with a friendly smile. Hi Arc.

"Oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to wake you up," Arc responds. "That's always a problem on ships... trying to get everyone's cycle figured out."

"Anyway, I just wanted to see if you felt like stretching your legs a bit on the station, maybe get a drink or two, and then see what kind of mischief we can get into?"

That's a fair suggestion, depending on your concept and boundaries  of mischief are?

"I suspect my ideas of mischief are a lot more conservative than yours, even if I was a hunter," Arc replies.

"I suppose anything short of getting arrested works for me. What are your parameters?"

Adriannah was puzzled by Arc'c assessment of her. That's a reasonable proposal I've heard being a arrested can cause all manner of problems, not the least being a criminal record.

"The odd thing about criminal records is that yours could wind up chasing you for years without ever catching up to you, and then, when you least expect it, it bites you in the ass," Arc replies.

"It all depends on what you get arrested for and who's looking. A lot of times, a criminal record doesn't bother anyone, particularly if all you were arrested for was being drunk and disorderly."

In reply to Arc Tangent (msg # 63):

You've an interesting outlook of the legal system; which I suspect was formed by some brushes. Wouldn't it be easier overall to circumvent any possible injury to such a trim ass, by avoiding any possible adverse outcomes.

"Of course it would, but with every planet and every starport having different laws, it's almost impossible to avoid them all," Arc answers.

"Half the time you're walking a tightrope and the other half of the time you're running from something you didn't even know you did!"

"Well, maybe a quarter of the time each."

"Did you know that on Bartica, it's illegal to talk to a horse? But it's not illegal for the horse to talk to you! No, it's true! I don't know the rationale behind it, but it had something to do with the Cult of the Sacred Cow."

"It's illegal to be single on Slint. If your spouse dies, you have 24 hours to either marry someone else, usually some other single person in prison, or else leave the planet. It has something to do with the available resources."

"So, you can see how hard it is to avoid getting a criminal record sometimes."

 Oh my... exclaims Adriannah her brows furrowed as her face pales. She hadn't considered this possibility when she'd venture from the guildhouse. Umm  I just remembered having to check out the Life support updates. Don't let me hold you up she prompted.

Would a stroll about the Port place us under local legislative procedures; or do Current SpaceFaring Laws apply?

"It's a space station-slash-starport," Arc answers, "so it's extraterritorial. Local planet laws don't apply, only starport laws."

"I'm pretty sure flamethrowers are illegal either way."

"Oh-oh! Sounds like we won't get a chance to do anything on the station now!" Arc responds to Adriannah and the recall announcement.

"Sounds like the rest of the crew found some kind of trouble to get into."

"We can head to the bridge and see what's up?"

He waits for a minute to see if Adriannah is going to head with him to the bridge, and then he heads off with or without her.

Hearing the two-hour departure time Adriannah shrugged. You go  ahead, I'll be along shortly.

Instead of heading to the bridge Adriannah goes to her quarters to tidy it up in preparation for travel.

After tidying up her cabin Adriannah spend time watching a few motion clips.

Waking with a start Adriannah peered at the screen for an instant. She'd slept through six hours of vidclips, which was apparent from the drink in her neck. Flicking off the vdu she rose and headed to the shower.

Refreshed by her shower Adriannah settled into her cabin's online and surfed the local web.
