Re: Dust Runner Engineering

Kraig shook his head at the mention of psionics.  He wasn't one to lump all Zhodani into the category of mind raping control freaks but the idea of actually being in the presence of an active, skilled psion was a bit disconcerting.  "Psionics?  I'd expect you to keep your mind out of our thoughts at the very least."

In reply to Kraig Pars (msg # 20):

"rest assured, i'm not really into picking peoples brains apart." he removes his hand from the console. "I prefer utility uses of my talents, move objects, talk to machines, and stopping others psi's from using their powers"

Re: Dust Runner Engineering

The internal gravity system is also off-line. It needs to have a few circuits replaced as they burnt out when Mara did her little trick with the zero-gee.

Re: Dust Runner Engineering

Kraig nodded, slightly mollified by Stez' answer.  "So you can interface directly with machines?  Is that similar to a direct neural interface like you would get with a jack?"

Shamus as he goes through he checks, will attempt to fix the gravity system.

Kraig walked over to look at the systems read outs.  "Yea, that kind of sudden overload is dangerous to the equipment.  Civilian ships like this aren't built for such sudden compensation."  He waves Stez over.  "Come on over and see if you can help me Stev."

Re: Dust Runner Engineering

Stez has no problem determining what and where the problem lies. There are two control boards--engineering and bridge, with a local auxiliary one in the cargo bay. The controls actual control the localized governors for each of the grids around the ship.

There are seven such grids: bridge, main deck, engineering port and starboard; saucer deck, crew deck and cargo bay.

All the governors are burnt out and need replaced. The normal gravity control program doesn't allow for reducing the gravity to zero, other than to shut it off. Mara didn't have time to rewrite a program that would allow fine control, so she had to override all the governors en mass.

So, once realizing the problem. Shamus looks at the best qualified to make the checks.

Re: Dust Runner Engineering

Kraig works with Steve to diagnose the problem.  Once the psion points out the problem he turns to the others.  "I think we can cobble together repairs from the spare parts for now.  Some of the power can be bypassed; it will be makeshift but should hold for now.  We can also scavenge the grav APC back at the beach for parts if they haven't been ruined by sea water."  He gets to work; "Lend me a hand would you Shamus, Stez?"

23:35, Today: Kraig Pars rolled 11 using 2d6+2 with rolls of 4,5. Engineering.

Re: Dust Runner Engineering

It's easy enough to replace the control circuits... while replacement parts last. There are only six.

Anyone with Engineering-0 can make the replacement (just don't fumble). It'll only take about 15 minutes.
