Roland came aboard and stopped in the airlock, using the decontamination kit to clean off the suit, and scrub down his gear before he left the airlock. Once inside he didn't crack his helmet and made sure everything he had brought aboard was sealed in bags and containers even after scrubbing them down.

"I'm  aboard, I have transferred everything as directed, ready to depart."

Re: Guests
MEDICAL BAY

Ever since the life support pods had been brought over to the Dust Runner from the refueling station, Arc had been making sure they were still functioning. He didn't have quite enough training to set up a quarantine area so that he could possible bring the people out, but he also wasn't sure that wouldn't kill them. The doctors at the station hadn't been able to determine the cause of the plague, but as they were the only ones still left alive (as far as they knew), it didn't seem right to leave them behind, especially as the station was in imminent danger from the storm.

Fortunately, he'd been assigned by Kara and a few other crew members with some medical training. They'd noticed that the lifesigns externally displayed on the pods had shown a slow improvement in the patients.

*BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP*

Arc jumped as the pod on the end suddenly started beeping!

What does that mean? was his first thought, but as soon as he did, he realized what it meant--the pod was ready to open!

Had it been on a timer that they hadn't seen?

He rushed over to the pod and read the indicators. The medical sensors detected no adverse conditions in the patient! That's why the pod was opening! The patient had gotten better!

He checked the others. They were improving, too, but weren't waking up yet.

He let the pod run through its cycle normally. Before long, the air was all purged and recycled, and the split lid hissed apart and slid aside.

The man inside was slowly waking up.

"Ugghhh, fleuf wav thaf. Oh my head is spinning. Bleh and what is this taste in my mouth. How do people stand traveling in low berths if this is what it feels like. Hey Doc what's going on? Did you guys manage to find out what was wrong with everyone else?" Hans woke slowly. His speach slurry at first but once his face woke up to the same degree as his mind it cleared up. He looked around taking in his surroundings slowly.

"Before you panic, you are aboard the free trader Dust Runner," Arc says, moving to a position where Hans can see him.

"My name's Arc Tangent. I pass for the doctor on the ship at the moment. We stopped at the station to refuel, and found nearly everyone dead. There were a few people in life support pods, and since the station looked like it might be destroyed in the upcoming storm, we moved the pods to our ship."

"And, no, we have no idea what plague or airborne virus or whatever affected the crew. I'm utterly gobsmacked that you somehow managed to recover all on your own."

"Low berth might have helped give my body enough time to fight back against what ever it was. I do know the first thing that happened was it started affecting people brains." Hans said as he very slowly sat up. It's official, he hated travel by low berth.

"Actually, we found a log on the ship that indicated that small electronic devices were affected first," Arc replies. "It wasn't connected to what was happening to people until it was too late. I have to admit, I've never heard of any virus that could affect electronics."

Arc gets on the comm and informs the bridge.

"Arc to Bridge. One of our medical guests has... revived."

Hans stood up slowly. Getting his legs under him he immediately goes to search his possessions inside the foot locker of the pod. Once he had retrieved his bag of belongings he looked around and asked, "So who else is on this tub?"

"A bunch of refugees," Arc explains. "The Swordies invaded Lanth. We managed to commandeer this ship and escape the net before it closed fully."

"I'd offer to check you over, but the medical pod is Imperial, so it's a lot better at the medical stuff than I am."

"Oh, pardon my manners! This is Kara!"
Arc indicates the other person in the room who was assisting him. "Actually, it's a long name that ends in 'kara' but I can't seem to remember it. Fortunately, she let's us call her Kara."

"So, who are you? It's kind of important for you to answer that before we start letting you run around the ship."

Hans nodded to Kara then said, "I'm Hans, I used to work on an xboat crew in the Scouts before an accident.  Sadly that didn't exactly work out. Right now I'm freelance. Trying to pick up work. I guess throwing in with a bunch of refugees is about in line with my luck so far in life."

Hans stretched his legs and walked about the medical bay looking at what was available. With no real skill in medicine he didn't know what to do with most of the things there. After a moment of looking around he decided he felt like exploring. "So which way to the mess hall? That is if this tiny boat even has one."

"I won't say that you are a prisoner," Arc says to Hans, "but I think you should remain here until the captain okays you. Plus, since we don't know what affected you, we're not sure if it's still virulent and contagious... you could be like a Typhoid Mary."

"Until we get to know you a little better, the captain may want security to accompany you."

"We can get you something to eat, though. Any preference? Not that we have a great source. The previous pirate crew seemed to be big on vegemite sandwiches."

Looks around, sees Hans.

"Steve Cable, Captain of the IISS Amatsukaze Courier. Welcome aboard the Dust Runner, prize of war, it was hijacked and I and a rather ever growing cast od mighty strange characters returned it to lawful control.."

"You feeling OK?"

Steve looks at him as if he expects him to explode into a purple splorch monster...any second now.

Tosses him a mask, watching him.

"Arc, carry on, if you see the Baroness update her."

Leads him to next compartment the boat bay, seals it and climbs atop the boat jumps onto the engine room.

The sea breeze whips his hair, the salt smell noticeable through the filters.

"All we need do is drop the hoses in the ocean and refuel. Then we can go back to your station, if it survives the storm we swap out water for fuel and go, if not we use the water for fuel."

"What was your job on the station?"

Hans looks around at Steve as they dragged the hoses in place. "I was just passing through. Didn't have any real job." The wind and spray pushes him about but he keeps his footing as he works.

Not wanting to miss a chance to stretch his legs Roland found his way to the hatch and followed the others outside to rig hoses for refueling. He perched himself out of the way and took out his binoculars to do some sight seeing. Well, more like keeping an eye out for more trouble while the others were working. With his armor on, and rifle close at hand he stood watch not at all sure that something wouldn't blow up in their face without warning.

The ship shuddered with it's jump entry and Hans woke up. He had been off doing his own almost whenever the ship touched down. Now he was back in focus and ready to rock and roll. He hopped up from his bed. Got dressed and went to the galley to get some food.

Luthar was pleasantly surprised to hear that the Dust Runner would depart within the hour.
He had few belongings and certainly had no need to insist on his one dton cargo space usually entitled to high class passengers.
And so he had nothing to do really and casually checked the holovids library.

Being both anxious and yet bored, Luthar strained his ears for any sign of departure. And so he became aware of the arrival of further passengers.
Kraig had explained to him that this vessel was incapable of covering the four parsec to Dinomn in one jump and so he was quite intrigued who else might agree on the terms of passage.
So he casually strolled outside and made for the common room, hoping to catch a glimpse of the other guests.

[Passenger Common Room (20) - Lower Deck/Bow]
Luthar did notice the couple and they did not strike him as particularly intrigueing.
And so he settled in the comfortable couch and looked outside the view pane at the bustling activity which was drawing to its close.
Departure was close by.

[Passenger Common Room (20) - Lower Deck/Bow]

Kraig dropped by again some time later to check in on Luthar and ease the ex-Navy again by stating that the ship would soon depart.
Kraig Pars:
He poured a couple of stiff drinks with the practiced hand of long experience with passengers. "I think you can use something stiff my friend."

"To be honest, I certainly can use that. It's been a while since I was last shot at. Well, I was actually not shot at, but, well, you know, been in a fire fight without tons of ship armour around me.", he chuckled and sipped.
Luthar frowned.
"As soon as I realized that there was a sniper I warned everybody else in the Nexus and made haste to leave via the backdoor. There was more gun fire, quite unlike the single precise shot you'd expect of a sniper, more like autofire. Maybe some of the guests shot back ? I don't know. But I think you may be right. An assassination might not have caught the attention of security for some time, or at least there would not have been too much pressure, but with a gunfight like that, security sure is busy to investigate for real. Might even be they enforce a temporary departure ban."
Kraig Pars:
"Let me introduce you to the captain and I'll see if I can't get things going more quickly with our departure."

Luthar shrugged. Perhaps Kraig was right. It certainly would be good to inform the captain.
"Yes, you're probably right."
He emptied the drink and stood up.
"Lead the way. I'll be right behind you."
