Re: Guests
MEDICAL BAY
Ever since the life support pods had been brought over to the Dust Runner from the refueling station, Arc had been making sure they were still functioning. He didn't have quite enough training to set up a quarantine area so that he could possible bring the people out, but he also wasn't sure that wouldn't kill them. The doctors at the station hadn't been able to determine the cause of the plague, but as they were the only ones still left alive (as far as they knew), it didn't seem right to leave them behind, especially as the station was in imminent danger from the storm.
Fortunately, he'd been assigned by Kara and a few other crew members with some medical training. They'd noticed that the lifesigns externally displayed on the pods had shown a slow improvement in the patients.
*BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP*
Arc jumped as the pod on the end suddenly started beeping!
What does that mean? was his first thought, but as soon as he did, he realized what it meant--the pod was ready to open!
Had it been on a timer that they hadn't seen?
He rushed over to the pod and read the indicators. The medical sensors detected no adverse conditions in the patient! That's why the pod was opening! The patient had gotten better!
He checked the others. They were improving, too, but weren't waking up yet.
He let the pod run through its cycle normally. Before long, the air was all purged and recycled, and the split lid hissed apart and slid aside.
The man inside was slowly waking up.
