Ever since the life support pods had been brought over to the Dust Runner from the refueling station, Arc had been making sure they were still functioning. He didn't have quite enough training to set up a quarantine area so that he could possible bring the people out, but he also wasn't sure that wouldn't kill them. The doctors at the station hadn't been able to determine the cause of the plague, but as they were the only ones still left alive (as far as they knew), it didn't seem right to leave them behind, especially as the station was in imminent danger from the storm. Fortunately, he'd been assigned by Kara and a few other crew members with some medical training. They'd noticed that the lifesigns externally displayed on the pods had shown a slow improvement in the patients. *BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP* Arc jumped as the pod on the end suddenly started beeping! What does that mean? was his first thought, but as soon as he did, he realized what it meant--the pod was ready to open! Had it been on a timer that they hadn't seen? He rushed over to the pod and read the indicators. The medical sensors detected no adverse conditions in the patient! That's why the pod was opening! The patient had gotten better! He checked the others. They were improving, too, but weren't waking up yet. He let the pod run through its cycle normally. Before long, the air was all purged and recycled, and the split lid hissed apart and slid aside. The man inside was slowly waking up.

"My name's Arc Tangent. I pass for the doctor on the ship at the moment. We stopped at the station to refuel, and found nearly everyone dead. There were a few people in life support pods, and since the station looked like it might be destroyed in the upcoming storm, we moved the pods to our ship." "And, no, we have no idea what plague or airborne virus or whatever affected the crew. I'm utterly gobsmacked that you somehow managed to recover all on your own." "I'd offer to check you over, but the medical pod is Imperial, so it's a lot better at the medical stuff than I am." "Oh, pardon my manners! This is Kara!" Arc indicates the other person in the room who was assisting him. "Actually, it's a long name that ends in 'kara' but I can't seem to remember it. Fortunately, she let's us call her Kara." "So, who are you? It's kind of important for you to answer that before we start letting you run around the ship."

"Until we get to know you a little better, the captain may want security to accompany you." "We can get you something to eat, though. Any preference? Not that we have a great source. The previous pirate crew seemed to be big on vegemite sandwiches."

Looks around, sees Hans. "Steve Cable, Captain of the IISS Amatsukaze Courier. Welcome aboard the Dust Runner, prize of war, it was hijacked and I and a rather ever growing cast od mighty strange characters returned it to lawful control.." "You feeling OK?" Steve looks at him as if he expects him to explode into a purple splorch monster...any second now.

"Arc, carry on, if you see the Baroness update her." Leads him to next compartment the boat bay, seals it and climbs atop the boat jumps onto the engine room. The sea breeze whips his hair, the salt smell noticeable through the filters. "All we need do is drop the hoses in the ocean and refuel. Then we can go back to your station, if it survives the storm we swap out water for fuel and go, if not we use the water for fuel." "What was your job on the station?" Luthar Argot player, 15 posts Baron Imperial Navy Commander Mon 13 Mar 2017 at 16:01 |
Luthar was pleasantly surprised to hear that the Dust Runner would depart within the hour. He had few belongings and certainly had no need to insist on his one dton cargo space usually entitled to high class passengers. And so he had nothing to do really and casually checked the holovids library. This message was last edited by the player at 16:02, Mon 13 Mar 2017.

Being both anxious and yet bored, Luthar strained his ears for any sign of departure. And so he became aware of the arrival of further passengers. Kraig had explained to him that this vessel was incapable of covering the four parsec to Dinomn in one jump and so he was quite intrigued who else might agree on the terms of passage. So he casually strolled outside and made for the common room, hoping to catch a glimpse of the other guests. [Passenger Common Room (20) - Lower Deck/Bow] Luthar did notice the couple and they did not strike him as particularly intrigueing. And so he settled in the comfortable couch and looked outside the view pane at the bustling activity which was drawing to its close. Departure was close by. link to a message in this game [Passenger Common Room (20) - Lower Deck/Bow] Kraig dropped by again some time later to check in on Luthar and ease the ex-Navy again by stating that the ship would soon depart.
"To be honest, I certainly can use that. It's been a while since I was last shot at. Well, I was actually not shot at, but, well, you know, been in a fire fight without tons of ship armour around me.", he chuckled and sipped. Luthar frowned. "As soon as I realized that there was a sniper I warned everybody else in the Nexus and made haste to leave via the backdoor. There was more gun fire, quite unlike the single precise shot you'd expect of a sniper, more like autofire. Maybe some of the guests shot back ? I don't know. But I think you may be right. An assassination might not have caught the attention of security for some time, or at least there would not have been too much pressure, but with a gunfight like that, security sure is busy to investigate for real. Might even be they enforce a temporary departure ban."
Luthar shrugged. Perhaps Kraig was right. It certainly would be good to inform the captain. "Yes, you're probably right." He emptied the drink and stood up. "Lead the way. I'll be right behind you."
