Re: Skills Study and Training Program
Kraig was already learning Astrogation-2 so based on the latest GM post can I take him to a level 2 in that skill?  It would be helpful to have some pointing the ship into Jump space skill...

Re: Skills Study and Training Program
Responding (finally) to Luthar's post, the method I suggested had two main rationales. The first was that it takes a LOT longer with online games for those weeks to pass. It could be a year of Real Time before 7 weeks of 'down time' for the character passes.

The second was an effort to eliminate bookkeeping. RPGs aren't supposed to be a game of 'Papers & Paychecks' (unless that's actually what you are playing).

I suppose a 3rd reason was just so there was something happening while the ship was in jump space. I can toss in small things, but that's just make-do stuff; it doesn't really advance the game. Of course, that doesn't keep anyone from doing something on their own.

That's why I've shifted the procedure yet again.

Re: Skills Study and Training Program
Looking over the UPPs, it would seem as if we are a bit weak in the Sciences, and could definitely use some more Engineering. Maybe put together a table of strengths and weaknesses.

Argent is going to work on Science (biology).

Re: Skills Study and Training Program
We are actually 2 weeks in transit as is, since the ship only has Jump-2 and Ghandi-Dinomn is 4 parsec.
Real Time comparisons I find a bit lacking, if there is no IC experience why ever should RT affect the characters' development ?
[Shrug] Whatever.
Am sticking to the Streetwise 2->3, even though it will take yet another jump to complete.

She could do some engineering, but it would help to know what kind we're lacking.

Alternatively, Athletics might be fun.

Gahler GrohlsonEngineer (M-Drive)1
Roland SteenEngineer (Naval) 1.1
Luthar ArgotEngineer (M-Drive)1
Luthar ArgotEngineer (Electronics)2

So, that leaves
J-Drive
Life Support
Power Systems
Psionic Equipment
Small Ship Systems

  1. Surely, this is uncanny. That particular specification is supposed to be reserved for Naval Engineers ? Used in cases where there’s design and building of space craft involved ? Like, in huge ship yards ?

That's what's in your UPP... except for Streetwise-1.

I didn't list ALL skills, only what was relevant to the ship/group.

Re: Skills Study and Training Program
I used this in one of my other Traveller games but never got around to updating this game to it.

The 'best' way to keep track of developing skills and traits is to use a decimal system.

So, if you have Electronics (sensors)-1 and you want to improve it, list it on your character sheet and here as Electronics (sensors)-1.1 for the first week. The second week of training would be Electronics (sensors)-1.2... or just Electronics (sensors)-2.

I'll try to remember to update the UPP thread to show this.
