Re: Moving Forward

Didn't we pool our money to buy freight a few days/weeks ago? I can't find the total.
I remember recommending advanced weapons though (40% normal price).

Re: Moving Forward

StarMaster:
The recovery fee for the ship was 1.239MCr. It wasn't a new ship. In theory, that should be split 8 ways (we'll assume all the departed NPCs already got their share), so everyone should get 157,875Cr. So how much of that do each of you want to pocket, and how much do you want to contribute to the ship's fund?

Based on character sheets, the following characters COULD contribute this much money into the ship's fund:

Luise -- 20,000Cr
Arc -- 80,000Cr
Kraig -- 50,000Cr
Gahler - 40,000cr
Subtotal= 190K cr

That's based on leaving everyone with around 10,000Cr pocket change.

So who's going to sell your current cargo?

we have 6 characters (IM, Luise, Arc, Kraig, Steve, Gahler) so this will give us about 947250 credits as a base without the extras each wishes to contribute.
+other 190K cr
or 1137250 credits

Cargo bargains:
Advanced weapons 25 tons 60k/ton =1.5Mcr
Crystals 5tons 10k/ton 50 Kcr
Exotics 7 tons 3K/ton  21 Kcr
this would be 1,571,000 credits if all was purchased.

Re: Moving Forward

You have 8 characters. You left out Roland and Hans. Admittedly, Hans hasn't been around for while, but he was having RL problems and said he was still interested, so I've been keeping his character around to see if he manages to find his way back.

So, if everyone puts their salvage fee into the kitty, that would be:

 1,239,000 Cr Recovery fee earned.
    20,000 Cr from Luise
    80,000 Cr from Arc
    50,000 Cr from Kraig
    40,000 Cr from Gahler
    75,000 Cr from Roland
0 Cr from Hans; he didn't have any extra funds.
         0 Cr from IM
         0 Cr from Steve
    98,000 Cr from cargo sold.

 1,602,000 Cr SUB-TOTAL
-   95,120 Cr spent on upgraded the ship's locker.
 1,507,120 Cr SUB-TOTAL

 1,030,000 Cr Passenger Fees
 2,537,120 Cr SUB-TOTAL
-1,571,000 Cr New cargo purchase

   966,120 Cr REMAINING BALANCE

The next question is: are you going to pursue the Looking For Trouble subplot?

I believe the subplot is a private passenger needs a quick trip to Regina for a cool 1 mcr.
Need to run it by rest of crew.

Re: Moving Forward

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

For those who may not have heard, eight days ago on Sunday night just after dinner, I suddenly developed a severe stomach pain--level 7. While I struggled with it for half an hour, figured it was probably food poisoning. It wasn't like any other stomach pain I'd ever experienced before. Then I wound up throwing up 4-5 times, though afterwards the pain level was only 5. An hour later, I threw up 2-3 more times and the pain level dropped to 3. And there it stayed. No more throwing up, and it didn't go away. I couldn't find any position where the pain was lesser, and it was too high to let me sleep. Finally called the EMTs about 1 a.m. and off to the ER I went.

A dose of femital (or something) dropped the pain to 1, and eventually it went completely away. However, the hospital continued to run its test to try and determine the cause. I'm not convinced that they ever did. One doctor concurred that it might have been food poisoning, but the other doctor concluded that it was a problem with my gallbladder and recommended I have it removed. He scheduled laposcopy surgery for Wednesday. If it went well, I'd be hope by Friday. Turned out it was in bad shape and required full abdominal surgery to remove it.

Let me tell you... in all those movies/shows when they talk about a painful wound to you abdomen, they aren't kidding! Every muscle in your chest and abdomen, and a few in your arms and legs, are all tied in together. So every deep breath, every burp, every hiccup, every yawn, every laugh, every cough causes excruciating pain! This is on top of the pain meds!

Every movement... sitting up, standing up, sitting down, laying down, stretching, reaching, bending... causes pain. One such movement at a time is usually okay, but then requires an hour of sitting still and getting over it.

Alas, the hospital's discharge procedure was rather inept on Sunday, and I wound up having to make a dozen such movements so that I could get my meds from the pharmacy before it closed. So after I got home and settled in, it took around 8 hours for the pain to subside.

It's slowly getting better, but will probably take 5-6 weeks for the surgery to completely heal and the pain to completely go away.

But, I'm back! Not sure how much I'll get to in the next two days... have to reorganize the house a bit as I'm mostly fending for myself.

Anyway, I apologize for the absence and lack of word.

Re: Moving Forward

Greetings everybody.

For about the last 2 months I have read a couple of Alastair Reynolds' Revelation Space novels and it has caused quite an 'itch' to play some SciFi rpg again.
For me that means Traveller :D

My character is a 42 year old, retired Imperial Navy Commander, a Baron even, whose bad decision near the end of his career has put him into trouble.
Hailing from Ghandi (which I take to be the current location of the group), he is looking for a way to leave the planet. Problem is: a mere 4k Cr won't bring him anywhere really if he has to pay for passage (especially if he does not stoop down for Low Berth).

To complete my character I am looking for potential connections.
From my Events, there are only two potentials there that I can see.

0-4 years ago
A gunfight on the world of Ghandi (Lanth).
At the time I worked as a Fence (Merchant Prince, 2010, p. 18) and someone as stealing from my stocks and a gunfight ensued.

20-24 years ago
An item of Alien Technology that I immediately sold afterwards.

Other than that, there's Imperial Navy only, so I'm not sure whom I may have met, perhaps Roland Steen ?
No idea if each of you have already reached your limit of "max two skills from Connection", but it would indeed be nice to have some more skill.

Same so with Training Package.
Not sure if I am even allowed to picke up another skill from that one as I'm a bit unclear who is still active.

Well, so much for the mechanics of character creation.
Fluff will follow asap, likely just via a post in the "Looking for Trouble" thread.
Oh, btw, I could bring a mind-numbing 2 Ship Shares (yeah, great, isn't it) and an Air/Raft which I cannot even operate at the moment for lack of the appropriate skill ^^.

Re: Moving Forward

Yeah, recovery seems to be going well. It didn't hurt as much to get out of bed this morning. Physical activity still takes its toll, though.

It's just going to take awhile before it all gets better.

Anyway, I figured I'd use Luthar as a replacement for Hans, as I don't know when (if ever) he'll find his way back here. I'll keep Hans around in the background... to watch the horse, so to speak.

So welcome the new guy aboard!

Re: Moving Forward

Everyone else has their two Connection skills, so any connection they choose won't get them any benefit.

As for the time frame, there any number of ways to have made a connection with someone during any of Luthar's 6 terms; it doesn't have to be something obvious. A drinking buddy during a layover works, for instance.

In any case, you can just pick two skills for your Connections and figure out the actual connection later.

cool.
thanks

For Connections I would like to pick up/increase Investigate and Streetwise.
Anyone a wish for knowing my character and coming up with a good idea (the latter is easy as I acted as a fence in my last term, the former, well, not idea just now).
Thanks

Re: Moving Forward

I don't see anything for Arc to connect with Luthar, but Gahler was a Merchant/Trader, so he could have had contact with the Imperial Navy.

Steve's 2nd term (out of 5) in the Scouts had him rubbing shoulders with the nobility, so that sounds like it'd fit.

Kraig was also a merchant.

Luise is a Baroness, so potential for contact there, as well as a Marine at one point and then a Merchant.

In reply to Kraig Pars (msg # 587):

Okay then.

Gahler, Steve, Roland and Ignatius are in the Nebula Bar as I am.
I should have recognized them if I were connected to them, so perhaps it makes more sense to focus on those not present, i.e Arc, Hans, Kraig and Luise.

Kraig, I'd like to be connected to you, your reference makes perfect sense to me.
So let's say for now that we have met during some deal or another.
Luise, I'd also like to know you, we may have met on some social (noble) event/party.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding, but I am waiting on some further post of GM to learn if Blanchard has actually been shot or not :D

If the shot I took was not possible let me know and I'll rewrite...call it an itchy finger and a distinct distaste for snipers and assassins.

it occurs to me I may have mishandled the auto attack...can't keep the rule straight in my head...4 dice or four shots...damn having so many rules sets in yer head gets confusing.

Urban myth of the night: bar tables, sheetrock, trash cans, car doors, and plywood are bullet proof...

BTW this is what Roland just cut loose with :D

The top one is a guass pistol the one below it is an auto pistol
