Re: Moving Forward

Part of that's my fault. It's not been a good month. If I don't get my posting done in the daytime, I get too tired to post in the evenings. Usually. And if I have running around to do in the day, then I don't get any posting done.

Things have been improving slowly, though, as I've been able to do some posting at night now. I may finally be returning to 'normal'!

Re: Moving Forward

Any word on this?

When they reached Regina he reached out to an old friend Alister Mercken.  He was active in trade and star ship insurance and would be able to fill Kraig in on the progress of the war and maybe provide a few tips on good cargo opportunities.

Re: Moving Forward

I'm a bit stymied at the moment. No one has posted in a couple of weeks.

Are you waiting on me to reply to something?

Or has the game finally died?

I think we were waiting on a response to our trying to sell off the ship.

Re: Moving Forward

Yea, the offer is what I was waiting on.  With this much money it doesn't seem we have much incentive to adventure from this point though :(

Re: Moving Forward

It's the adventure. It just means you don't have to worry so much about making ends meet, paying off the ship, buying fuel, trading cargoes, etc.

A couple of longevity treatments will get rid of a lot of the money.

Certainly some high end anagathics or medical treatment of that type would burn a LOT of credits.

Re: Moving Forward

Bleh. Had a crappy week, half of which wasn't my fault... no internet last Sunday, sick on Monday, doctor's appointment on Tuesday, company on Wednesday... then Thanksgiving (normally do nothing but this year it was make a big dinner, eat till your stuffed, clean up, watch football all day)... Friday was recovery.

So, what is the crew doing?

Re: Moving Forward

Trying to determine what to do with all the money.
Wondering about upgrading the Dust Runner or getting a new ship.

  The Dust Runner:
     Listed Value: 247.785 MCr
Jump 2 (not much we can do to change this)
     Cargo: 92 tons
     Computer: Mod 2
     Sensors: Civilian
     Staterooms: 15
     Low Berths: 20
3 Hardpoints with only one outfitted: Triple Turret (missile rack, beam laser, sandcaster)

If we want to get an new ship we see how much we can get for it and factor that into our funds. Also how much we want to each keep. IM's not going to tie up everything into a new ship. He obvious wants some pocket money, maybe a couple MCr or so.

  250 MCr Alien Ship sale
   14     approximate cash on hand
170     sale of the Dust Runner (WAG)
  -------------------------
  434 MCr

Figure somewhere around 400+ to purchase a new ship with a reserve for some upgrades, cargo speculation and pocket money.

So, what? Upgrade to a 400-ton ship with Jump-3?

Re: Moving Forward

Once again, it looks like this game has died.

We're down to only 3 players.

So, should I go ahead and delete this game or try and recruit a few more players?

Re: Moving Forward

For the 3 players that are left, I see only two options here:

Option #1: we reboot the game somewhat, change things up, and recruit some new players... almost as if it's a new game.

Option #2: we call it quits, and I delete the game in another week or so.

Re: Moving Forward

That's a second vote from me, too.

Not sure what to reboot it TO... though apparently none of us were really interested in getting involved in the war. Not that it lasted all that long anyway.

Re: Moving Forward

Oddly, I just had a new player want to join, so I guess we reboot.

A few options for the reboot are:

A.) Mercenaries

B.) Troubleshooters

C.) Treasure Hunters

D.) Bounty Hunters

E.) Skip Tracers (which is what Steve started out as).

F.) Explorers... going out into the Unknown.

These are not only what I consider workable ideas (but certainly not the only ones), but ones that I feel comfortable in running.

Hello all, new meat, working on reading up and building a character. Harry McStubbin is the name, Stub or Stubby for short unless you like Harry, I'm easy to get along with! What character types do we build? I'm from Lanth.

Skip Tracer? What is that? I'll wait until we decide what to do before I decide what to do.

Re: Moving Forward

A Skip Tracer repossesses ships that have been 'skipped out on'. In other words, the buyer still owed lots of money and stopped making payments and 'disappeared'. So you go find the deadbeat and bring the ship back.

It's not too much different than bounty hunting. Not usually as dangerous, but a bit harder and more rewarding financially.

Re: Moving Forward

All except Mercenary sound good to me. Never been a big fan of guns and shooting.

I think Troubleshooters offers the biggest versatility.

Then Treasure Hunters and then Explorers.

I'm thinking Bounty Hunters and Skip Tracers would get old fast. It'd be too much like 'lather, rinse, repeat'.

Re: Moving Forward

Agreed, Skip Tracing would be repetitive, but different with each skipper, but the others would offer more versatility to adventure.
