Re: OOC Discussions

I think it would depend on how the technology was set up to work.  My initial thought would be that deck plates in a starship would only be intended to create gravity, not reverse it.  Not that the same basic technological principle couldn't work in reverse (as per the air/raft example Steve cites), but the specific component design would have to allow for that.

Anyway, it was not my intent to create a technological argument or to intentionally refute the GM's suggestion.  If Mara says it can be done, then I'm good to go.  Just thought I'd throw some of my personal reaction into my PC's reply, for flavour.

Now let's turn Luise and her cutlass loose, breach that fire control centre and then wreak our vengeance on Ritter and his remaining flunkies on the bridge!  Boo-yah!

Re: OOC Discussions

Good points Nathaniel; no need to hash out canon arguments over fictional technology.  :)

I'm all for Luisa chopping her way through the FC room!  Is Luisa with us?

Re: OOC Discussions

Has anyone noticed for a deserted island there's more folk wandering around than in the Imperial court?

Re: OOC Discussions

Yes, it was a tad difficult explaining all these people...

As it turns out, once everyone's story gets told, 6 were on the ship (not counting the hijackers) and 7 came looking for the ship. There was only one 'accidental tourist' on the island.

Think of it as people looking for a 'port in the storm', with the storm being the invasion of the planet.

Re: OOC Discussions

Aliens, antigravity, star drives and zillions of habitable worlds... I'm more than willing to add a bit more to my suspension of disbelief and consider the coincidence of the Rose Parade marching down the middle of this island.  :)

I'll be travelling the next couple of weeks and while I should have wifi access I suspect my posting will be less frequent.  StarMaster has my approval to run Nate if I haven't posted and am holding up the story.

Nit sure how I do this. If I want to point my peapon at his face and tell him to yield - how do I do this mechanically?

Re: OOC Discussions

There's essentially two ways to do it.

1. Role-play it. This is essentially an opposed action, so he'll respond based on what you write/say.

2. Roll a Diplomat or Persuade skill check. He'll get an opposed roll to resist.
