it is half funded to the initial goal.
Even if it is bad it is better than nothing at all.
Besides if it is bad we get to laugh/cringe. Like the various D&D movies.

Re: OOC Discussions

Are we really going to post every last action it'll take to get this ship moving?
Even for PbP this is getting a little tedious.

How ironic. I've been reading the posts and everyone seemed busy, so I simply waited. Then, I posted, and what do we do? Follow a distress call? I thought we were going to leave the system.

Re: OOC Discussions

Ya know, I'm the engineer in the bowels of the ship...like a mushroom until something doesn't work or breaks...

I'm not into mega or micro gaming....

But, unless you're a pirate or an asshole, distress signals pretty much override all other considerations...and ANYONE involved in spaceships know this.

Luckily, I'm down in the guts...otherwise, if I had heard this, I would have slapped whomever is in charge about the head and shoulders and said...possibly putting a gun to their head, "SOS, universal code...make your fastest speed to assist."

Perhaps it's just me?

No.

quote:
"Gahler, follow the course that I put in then we'll try for the distress signal. If feasible."

It should be reworded...we follow the distress signal, then follow the course laid out.

Or not...I'm the engineer...

However, I'll be reviewing the course of actions/transcripts

Hoping you correct your mistake. as time goes along...anyways...like I said...this is all OOC...and metagaming...

Re: OOC Discussions

And I admit I'm still confused about who's giving the orders.  I understand Luise is the captain, which would mean she's in charge.

I know Steve's also previously laid claim to being in charge in-game, and is clearly giving orders with the expectation of being obeyed.  I'm thinking there's a good roleplaying conflict/opportunity that's about to arise out of this.

Re: OOC Discussions

Luise just made a joke because she's anxious to jump, it was not said in character.

The course I gave him is to get out of the atmo undetected.  Which I previously stated.

Or to put things in a different context.  I know what I'm doing. (sometimes! ^_^)

Luise gave a command, after that I gave the orders.

I'm a ships captain (See below) and have a ship at the starport that Gahler and I sabotaged so no one could steal it. Gahler was pilot, I astrog and Kraig my engineer. We got caught off-ship during the invasion as we went to track down Ritter. Picking up ARC and others on the way. We stole a Swordie ship and brought it here. Ritter shot us down.   Then we bumped into all of you here.  So that's 2 ships I've commanded here....guess that makes me a commodore!

So needless to say as a captain I'm used to having orders obeyed. So that's the background from the old game.

Probably needed better intros at start. So that's me and my crew.

Re: OOC Discussions

No doubt... In extreme circumstances, like what we would have been through, confusion/chaos would reign until people starting organizing themselves....

Certain characters(players) would automatically start trying to organize things, anyone that has served in the military or formal structured institutions would either assume control, and/or look for higher guidance.

1st, I'm not harping on Steve's actions....I actually, almost agree, with his actions.

Anyways.....

I do foresee some interesting future interactions with the crew.....

and As I mentioned..i'm that guy, in the engine room, toiling and sweating away, while everyone else enjoys the glory.

Re: OOC Discussions

I don't have a problem with you acting however you think your character should act.  That's fine.  But there are potential in-game repercussions that will presumably arise with two people giving orders from ostensibly the same authority level.  Like "go after the distress call" versus "get us out of system".  Or whatever other conflicting ideas Steve and Luise (and maybe others) have.  And I think that is going to play out in-character sooner rather than later.

This isn't necessarily a bad thing.  It will make for interesting roleplaying.  And it seems pretty realistic to me anyway.  We're two or three groups of people (Steve's crew, the previous Dust Runner crew, and others) thrown together all at once, trying to find our way.  There's bound to be toes stepped on and angry words.

I'm looking forward to participating in that dynamic.

Re: OOC Discussions

Actually...a dysfunctional ship (crew wise) is a happy adventure crew...never boring and always entails entertaining if not possibly chaotic circumstances. However, the life expectancy of said crew....Pretty much zero unless they are highly skilled and/or work out their differences when faced with a crisis.

Damn, that's good writing....call the "Firefly" folks.

Re: OOC Discussions

LOL, yes...I'm enjoying the whole "who the heck is actually in charge here?" theme. Drex doesn't have any shares or captaincy experience, but he could throw his hat into the (already muddled) ring, if we don't get a move on. :D

I posted a little IG reminder, which may or may not help!
