Unless someone else wants to take over the Engineer's slot, that's filled by Roland Steen (NPC).

Thanks. Someone among the new group want to make an engineer or take over Roland? We should try to make crew positions out as PC because it is a small ship crew wise, staterooms are not plentiful iirc.

Yes, with new players, there's  not reason to keep the older abandoned characters around. Have to make room for the new people anyway.
