Albricht was close behind the halfling, disinclined to let the small companion get too far ahead lest he plan some trickery.

His wild-eye took note of the tracks and traffic marks upon the floor.

Elboc follows too, sword and shield at the ready.

Sherborne watches the rear with his mace ready.

By that point Vsaati had the splinters cleaned off her blade, so she fell in with the rest around the centre of the pack, trailing after Roak and Albricht.

Roak comes to the tee intersection, noting that the left passage continues past the limit of his light, but also seems to branch to the north after about 30 feet.  The passage to the right goes for 60 feet before ending in a closed door.

Roak moves back and shares this with the others. "I say we look at the door to the right."

Albricht shrugged, wary of Roak and his... manipulations.

"Right sounds good," says Elboc. "Treasure is usually behind looked doors."

Voran nods in agreement. "Vsaati, could you please check the door for us?"

Vsaati complied, examining the door for any signs of traps or other surprises.  Once satisfied, she declared the door safe for opening.

And Roak opens the door!

Roak opens the door to see the coils of two very large snakes curled up on a pile of furs and silks in the northeast corner of what otherwise looks to be a lady's bedchamber.  The tails of the pair move restlessly as the door swings open, then their head appear, but they're somehow wrong.  The wrongness is confirmed as both heads turn toward the door, and they are shown to be that of beautiful women with the heads of smaller snakes arranged about them as if they were hair.  Not only do the pair have human heads, but the entire upper torso of human women.

"What are you doing here, little morsels?" one of them purrs.

Roak screams and shuts the door. He pants. "Medusas! Don't look in there or we'll turn to stone!"

Albricht dropped his mace and shield to the floor and quickly fetched his hammer and an iron spike which he madly began hammering into the gap to keep it from opening from the inside.

"You sure what you saw Roak? We'd best get clever and get there quick!"

Lanliss pulls out his mirror again, looking away and covering his eyes with his free hand. He holds the mirror at eye level where he suspects the medusae would try to crack the door back open.

"Hey!  Open that gods-damned door!" one of the pair shrieks from inside of the room.  Shortly thereafter, a heavy body can be heard to slam into the door.  The door itself is pulled toward the inside of the room, in the direction that it opens, and Albricht's spike falls to the floor.  Roak quickly grabs ahold of the pull-ring on the door, but those inside seem to be making progress against him.

Voran grabs onto Roak, trying to add weight to him as he tries to keep the door closed.

Elboc will grab the ring pull too, in case Roaks's grip fails him.

Sherborne also tries to find a place to grab the ring and help.

Albricht cursed sourly in the Goblin tongue, a habit he only did when he was very scared or when having a particularly senior moment in an outhouse. This situation was noteworthy in that the two scenarios were similar and simultaneous. He scrambled for his old warhammer, leaving perfectly good tools on the floor.

"Pull you bear-loving, snake-fearing mushroom eaters!"

With a grunt he attempted to push the long handle through the ring to bar the door from opening inward!

"Can anybody cast a sleep spell on the other side of this door?" asks Elboc through gritted teeth.

Lanliss opens his eyes to stare at the action exclusively through his mirror.

"Assuming that even works on them? Assuming I don't need eye contact?

In reply to Lanliss (msg # 957):

"And especially if the rest of you are in the way!"

Pulling from the other side of the door continues, but the party seem to be able to hold it closed.
