As Roak begins his trip across the bridge, the gruff voice calls out, "Sharp and pointy just makes you crunchy!" and a troll races up from under the structure to slash at the halfling with one of its claws.

Lanliss rushes to Roak's aid, swinging his sword at the troll and almost cutting it in two!

"I told you should have fought the goats instead," mutters Elboc, but he still throws himself into the fight.

Voran flings a stone at the attacker, hoping to penetrate its hide.

Hits AC 4 for 4 magical sling stone damage.

Roak, meanwhile, yelps at the cut delivered by the thing's claws and retaliates, wounding it in return.

The party's furious onslaught results in the troll going down, staining the wooden surface of the bridge with its blood.  It stays there, umoving.

Roak goes over the troll's corpse looking for valuables!

As Roak is searching for valuables, he can visibly see the troll's wounds knitting back together.

Elboc will attempt to sprinkle one of his oil flasks on the corpse.

"Someone strike a flame with their tinderbox."

Hamburg removed one of his long black leather gloves, revealing for the first time the pure white, almost translucent flesh beneath. He simply snapped his thin fingers and a small flame appeared, deep burgundy in color. With a flicking motion, he tossed the tiny flame at the re-knitting corpse, setting the oil alight!

With a nod at Elboc, he quickly replaced his glove.

Casting Flare, 0-level cantrip

Lanliss watches Hamburg's flare carefully, preparing to get his tinderbox out should the cantrip not do the deed.

The fire quickly overtakes the troll's body, which burns for several long minutes and produces a thick, black, oily smoke that smells quite acrid.  When the oil has at last burnt out, only a nasty black residue remains, and some charred bones.

Roak looks about the body and the area, he is more than a little disappointed to find that there doesn't seem to be anything of value here.

"Well that is the end of that. Let us move on, across the bridge."

Elboc agrees with crossing the bridge and investigating further.

Hamburg pointed beneath the bridge, "In all likelihood, the troll's treasures are cached down there..."

The skeletal hand, which the odd wizard seemed to command, limped heroically back beneath the black robes after having been in a scuffle with one of the troll's hands prior to its burning.

The group looks around, surveying the path ahead, and also looking over the side of the bridge to see if they can see where the troll came from.

Voran pulls out a length of rope. "We could go down and look under the bridge," he offers.

Roak makes a face, but then finds a spot to tie the rope to and then clambers down under the bridge, looking underneath.

Roak shimmies down the rope and finds a sort of a cave, dug out in the footing of the bridge.  Inside he finds a variety of detritus, including several obvious wooden coins that appear to have been painted to look like copper and silver, and a couple of paste gems.  Nestled in the back, half buried in dirt, is half of a string of pearls which apparently were previously part of a whole necklace.

Elboc stands guard while Roak roots for treasure.

"Shall we move on?" he askes, "Or is there more to check here?"

Hamburg peered over the edge of the bridge curiously as the halfling explored the lair. He offered no advice nor suggestion, having quite a lot of confidence in Roak's abilities in this area.

"If we come across the goat, we should let him know that the bridge is no longer a danger..."

Roak is confident that he has found all there is to find here.

"Let's move on and find those goats," suggests Elboc.

Roak, muttering, climbs up, and the party continues on the path past the bridge!

Voran, smirking a bit, collects his rope and follows the others!
