I'm putting this thread in place to that we have a quick place to refer to rules and rulings that I've made, without having to sort through the forums.

Please ask any questions that you might have about rules and rulings in the OOC thread or in a private message, to keep the posts here to a minimum, making them easier to search.

In post #135 in the OOC Chat thread, I posted the rules about natural healing.  They are as follows:

Natural Healing:


1 hitpoint per day per character level healed overnight, plus 1 hitpoint per day per character level of bed rest, plus 1 hitpoint per day per character level of constantly attentive medical care (on top of the bed rest).

Addendum 2018-09-24:

Also add your CON bonus to HP to the amount healed when resting.  (e.g.:  a fourth (4th) level character with a 16 CON (+2 HP/HD) would heal 6 HP when resting overnight, 10 HP per day of bed rest, and 14 HP per day when under constant medical care)

Captured/Found Spellbooks:

One casting of Read Magic, which lasts for one (1) full turn (10 minutes, out of combat), is sufficient to read through found or captured spellbooks and write/scribe the new spells in a magic-user's/elf's own spellbook.  If we start finding spellbooks with tons of spells in them, I might revise this, but consider it to be sufficient until I say otherwise.

I'm ruling that ACTUAL coins are 1/50 of a pound, instead of 1/10 of a pound, despite what it says on page 61 of the Basic Player's Manual (Mentzer version), but encumbrance - if we ever use it - will still work with cn weight being 1/10 of a pound for everything else.

Seriously, if you've ever held a Troy ounce of any precious metal (1/12 of a pound), it's a ridiculous amount of metal to do everyday transactions with, and the listed 1/10 of a pound would be even heavier.

Continual Light can be memorized and cast in reverse by a magic-user, elf, or cleric, to counter the same spell.  The rules were unclear on whether this, or Dispel Magic would be required, but I like counterspelling, so we'll use it.

Damage does not take a character below 0 HP.  Excess damage is "lost".  A quick save by some sort of magical healing can take place within the next round and bring the stricken PC back up above zero, but must occur before the next action of the damage source (or whenever that next action would have taken place, if this was a one-time source of damage like a trap).

I'll reserve my opinion on whether or not a character can be healed from absolutely massive damage (like a character with 12 HP left taking 50 HP worth of damage) when it happens.

Riding saddles and tack:  25gp each
Saddlebags:                5gp each  (50# capacity each)
Pack saddles and tack:    15gp each  (300# capacity each)

Rules and Rulings

A blank book, suitable for use as a wizard's spellbook, costs 15gp.

Wizards are proficient with darts as thrown weapons.
