Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

I was as P1 drops his crossbow in fear. I shout at him, "You're not getting away that easy! You will burn!". I look over to Adwonus as he looks at me. We're thinking the same thing. I nod to him and take a 5 foot step to E6 at the same time he moves.

I wait for Imbellem to be in flanking position (E7). Just I see his mace begin to fly at the pirate I attack him with my spear.

I come down into the pirate with my spear.

13:56, Today: Mikael Vaeltaja rolled 17 using 1d20+9. Attacking P1 while flanking.
13:57, Today: Mikael Vaeltaja rolled 7 using 1d6+2. Damage to P1.

In reply to Mikael Vaeltaja (msg # 45):

Trapper sees Mikael move into position. With a quick step, the wounded half orc slid to e6, flanking the sea rat who had struck him so quickly. The orc took his axe and briefly snapped the bolt that protruded from his shoulder before immediately swinging his blades in a deadly arch at the pirate.

13:18, Sun 31 May 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 22 using 1d20+7 ((15)).
After the first swing, the ranger didn't let up. He brought his second blade into play, swinging upwards into his victim's back.

13:19, Sun 31 May 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 21 using 1d20+7 ((14)).

aaand damage

13:20, Sun 31 May 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 8 using 1d8+5 ((3)).

13:20, Sun 31 May 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 12 using 1d8+5 ((7)).

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

{This is my idea, (plan)

I think I have a good plan- what about this:
Mikael steps to E7, Adwonus to E6, Imbellem to G6, Dwalin to G8, Me to G7, I trip p5, Adwonus and Mikael and you Attack p1, the girls shoot p5 before I trip him, and Dwalin and Zin attack p5 after he is tripped. That way you cover Adwonus from p6 side, Mikeal covers his front, and 2 and 5 are covered by my reach weapon

this way p1 is dead for sure and Adwonus is covered on front and p6 side. we could also kill p5 and p2 is under threat from my AoO so he likely won't just charge adwonus. if Adwonus is in g6 he is more exposed to p6 possible sneak attack, and Mikeal threatens less squares near p2.
Mikael would want to assign dodge to 2 [Private to Mikael Vaeltaja: and likely use a point of combat expertise] to defend against p2 if he has power attack
}

I wince in pain as I am hit in the knee by a bolt. I hope it is less damaging than it felt. At least it was not an arrow- I have heard that can mess up an entire adventuring career.

With ideas wizing through my head as I see tactical plans unfold before my eyes, I begin barking orders again. Battle crys continue from my mouth at the same time from the last round!
Seeing Adwonus hit with 2 more bolts gives me concern
"Mikael move between Adwonus and the front line, take that pirate rogue down with Adwonus!   Cover our left flank and watch Adwonus!"
"Adwonus step back, and help flank this rogue. We will deal with these pirates in the front!"
I speak to Jacqueline in my native tongue to avoid the enemies interpreting what I say and missing their big surprise- though they might have seen death before, lets see how afraid they are when they face their own death!
"Jacqueline, wenn ich mich aus dem Weg zu nageln den Piraten verlassen wir für Sie geöffnet! Sagen Pyrra dasselbe zu tun, haben sie behalten einen Blick aus, während Sie die volle Deckung zu gehen, können Sie mehr ausgesetzt sind! Sie haben um ihr zu sagen! Ich glaube nicht, dass sie Deutsch versteht!"
[Private to Lady Jacqueline Raynelde: "Jacqueline, when I step out of the way nail the pirate we leave open for you! Tell Pyrra to do the same, have her keep a look out, while you take full cover, you are more exposed! You have to tell her! I don't think she understands German!"]
"Imbellem, leave that one that fled and get over her to help out Adwonus! Flank this rogue while I take the front! Watch out for the ladies when crossing!"
"Dwalin move up and press the attack, smash this guy with all you got after I trip him! Keep your shield at the ready!"
When Imbellem moves over in front of me, and Dwalin steps forward I step to G7 where Dwalin was. When I see the ladies arrows fly forward I then act with my attack.
I trip the pirate to my front right, who has no cover relative to me. "THANK YOU LORD FOR VICTORY! GRAAAA! THANK YOU LORD FOR STRENGTH and FAVOR!"
[Private to GM: {01:09, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 8 using 1d20+3. Opposed Strength Check, to trip P5; MQ. (assuming I get a plus 3 because my weapon to trip is 2 handed)
01:08, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 13 using 1d20+4. Touch Attack, against P5, with 2 power attack; MQ.
}
]
I turn my blocking percentage to ON
I stay vigilant of that rogue who snuck away from Imbellem.
{01:10, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 17 [Private to GM: using 1d20+1]. Listen Check, Situational Awareness; MQ.
01:10, Today: Secret Roll: Herr Johannes rolled 4 [Private to GM: using 1d20+1]. Spot Check, Situational Awareness; MQ.
}

"Now Zin, go! Move behind the pirate infront of Dwalin and attack the one I am tripping! Use whatever you have up your sleeve!" {I don't know if Zin has all sorts of secret abilities} He can feel free to use them though.
"Hit him Dwalin!"

{Full Plan:

Everyone, remember to add in that you turn on blocking (see the mechanics thread) if you wish*
people with shields should for sure! I recommend almost everyone do so- Imbellem has a spell to fix stuff if needed later.
1. Mikael 5ft step to E7 and attack P1, assign dodge (best to p2 or p3), [Private to Mikael Vaeltaja: probably use a point of combat expertise.]
2. Adwonus 5ft step to E6 and Full attack P1, while I or Imbellem provide a flank.
3. Imbellem move to G6 and attack P1 [Private to Imbellem Tueri: (1d20+6 for AR, 1d8+1 for DMG, report your results to us ASAP so we know whether Dwalin can full attack P5 or attack p1 too)] Turn your BLOCKING to ON!
4. Dwalin 5ft step to G8
5. I 5ft step to G7
6. Jacqueline stand from kneeling, sneak attack P5- with no one in the way he has no cover relative to you (remember to do a hide check while you attack, mention the -20, but bonus for cover and possible distraction of enemy (from me slashing his legs). Tell Pyrra to 5ft step next to you and sneak attack in the same way (from her front right corner p5 has no cover). Fall to kneeling at the end for cover, unless your sight of 6 would help anyone- otherwise just take the full cover.
7. Pyrra, listen to Jacqueline- 5ft step to G3 and sneak attack like Jacqueline. Stay standing to help look for 6/warn people of sneak attack (you have better cover from p3 and p5 than Jacqueline.
8. I trip P5
9. Zin 5ft step to G10 and attack p5 Turn your BLOCKING to ON!
10. Dwalin full attack p5, (unless Imbellem does not kill p1, then give p1 the shield and p5 the ax- see the results of Imbellem's attack first.) With the results now seen, attack p5 with both weapons. Turn your BLOCKING to ON!

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Imbellem grit his teeth as the rogue disappear from his line of sight, blood begining to drip from the bolt in his shoulder. The thought of chasing down a little pirate and beating him down helped to dull the pain for some reason... Suddenly, the sound of crossbows and a low growl caught his attention, he quickly turned to see Johannes remove the head from the body of the man in yellow which gave him a sense of peace, but the state of the hunter was less than peaceful. He was injured, quite badly from what he saw. An exasperated sigh came from the cleric, 'Oh come on, I JUST fixed that...' he said motioning toward Adwonus. His joking demeanor quickly switched to that of rage and fear as he noticed how truly inured one of his friends truly was.
Looking toward his shoulder at the feathered end of the bolt, Imbellem quickly removed his left leather glove and stuck it in his mouth. Without hesitation, he grabbed the tail end of the bolt, who it seemed did NOT want to leave, as it sent shocks of pain resonating though his body. Imbellem firmly grasped the tail end and pulled it as straight and as swiftly as he possibly could, cleanly pulling the crossbow bolt from his shoulder. He was beading in sweat and bit down as hard as he could, almost biting though the leather of his glove. A small amount of blood began to trickle down from his arm, but it was nothing serious. He gave a quick shoulder rotation, and placed the bloodied bolt in his belt pouch.
As quietly and carefully as he could, he sped behind the orcbloods attacker, while in movement he placed his glove back on and held his shield with a little bit more strength with the surge of adrenaline and protective instinct for his friend in an attempt to catch him off guard. His vision was slightly blurred as he was still on the outer lines of shock, but it was beginning to pass and he was quickly regaining control of his mind and body and flank the pirate who had slashed at the hunters back, without making a sound to alert the pirate of his presence, Imbellem, who would usually be giggling while sneaking up on someone was in no mood for games, wheeled back and swung at the back of the pirate, who hadnt noticed his approach. He swung with a sharp exhale as Zin had taught him to do when following though with a full powered attack.

I move to square G6 and attack P1 with flank bonus

[Private to DM Ryan: Im not sure if im allowed to, but if my hit lands and this guy dropps, id like to turn and face where i previously was so i couldnt get shot in the back, i wasnt positive about these rules... Also raise my shield to turn on block percentage]

Imbellem Tueri rolled 12 Morningstar attack.
Imbellem Tueri rolled 6 using 1d8+1 damage.

Imbellem Tueri rolled 18 Listen check situational awareness .
Imbellem Tueri rolled 19 Spot check situational awareness.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Jacqueline stood up with her bow drawn tightly next to her ear, being careful about remaining unseen. "Pyrra, come here (to G3) and see how much damage we can deal to that one without him seeing when Johannes moves. Stand and keep watch for the pirate that got away from Imbellum after you shoot," she quickly guestured towards the pirate (P5) before Johannes. Or, if he does see, well... he won't for very long. She loosed the arrow to sprint forward into its target after Johannes moves. She knelt (only if it makes a difference in cover) and prepped for another attack.

[Private to DM Ryan; Dwalin Grayhammer; Herr Johannes; Imbellem Tueri; Mikael Vaeltaja:
00:19, Today: Secret Roll: Lady Jacqueline Raynelde rolled 5 using 1d6+1. Damage (if sneak attack is successful, and it hits.)
00:19, Today: Secret Roll: Lady Jacqueline Raynelde rolled 8 using 2d6. Damage (if it hits).
00:17, Today: Secret Roll: Lady Jacqueline Raynelde rolled 12 using 1d20+6. Attack roll. P5. (Not including sneak attack bonuses, though.)
00:15, Today: Secret Roll: Lady Jacqueline Raynelde rolled 26 using 1d20+8. Hide Check. (This is not including bonus from the full cover, nor the -20, as stated in Cody's post.)

Also note: no bonuses or minuses of other distracted/flatfooted pirates were included.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Whatever gratification the pirate (P1) felt after piercing Adwonus must have dissipated in seconds. He glanced in all directions and realized his folly, that he was completely surrounded, and by enemies who all had their eyes on him. Mikael, Imbellem, and Adwonus, acting in unison, swarmed the isolated pirate, whose demeanor had changed with startling swiftness from one of triumph to dread. Three weapons fell upon him from all sides, and, with a final cry of pain, he collapsed silently on the ground {Mikael deals 7 Dmg to P1; Adwonus deals 8 Dmg to P1; Imbellem misses P1; Adwonus deals 12 Dmg to P1}.

Pyrra and Jacqueline stood side by side behind the makeshift fortress and released their arrows, but, to their dismay, both shot into a tower of crates beside their intended mark {Jacqueline misses P5; Pyrra misses P5}. Jacqueline took shelter behind the wall while Pyrra continued standing. Focusing the common target, Herr Johannes swiped toward the pirate’s legs with his polearm; he managed to hook one of the ankles, but only briefly, before his foe wrested free {Herr Johannes loses Strength Check}. Dwalin also closed in and mightily swung his axe while Zinvaris approached from behind, but both attacks were evaded {Dwalin misses P5; Zinvaris misses P5}. Having dodged all attacks that came his way, the pirate began howling a most irritating laugh, mocking them. Herr Johannes visibly went red with rage. Then, naturally, Dwalin bashed him in the face with his shield {Dwalin deals 6 Dmg to P5}. A tooth fell to the ground, and the pirate instantly stopped laughing.

Angered, the pirate stepped back and loosed a bolt at Dwalin, but the dwarf raised his shield in reply, deflecting it away {P5 misses Dwalin}. Zinvaris tried to capitalize on the moment but his rapier missed a second time {AoO, Zinvaris misses P5}. The other crossbowman (P3) stepped back as well and took a desperate shot at Zinvaris, but being an experienced swordsman, Zinvaris foiled his aim {P3 misses Zinvaris}. Both pirates were frustrated and tossed their crossbows aside, pulling out longswords instead.

Zinvaris smiled, seeming most alive in the thick of combat, adept at handling so many enemies at once. Another pirate (P2) lunged at Zinvaris, but this too was joyfully parried {P2 misses Zinvaris}. And then, to Zinvaris’ surprise, a rapier that was not his own cut into him. The missing pirate (P6) had appeared from the crates and stabbed him from behind {P6 deals 9 Dmg to Zinvaris}.

With nearly every combatant bloodied and dripping with sweat, the fierce battle continued.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Jacqueline stood immediately, staying crouched, and now nudging Pyrra so that she could eventually stand in her place (G3). "Quick, Pyrra, move over (to F3) and sneak attack that one," she stood up straight and gestured to the growly pirate (P2). She made sure to stay out of their sight. "Shoot--stealthily-- before everyone gets in the way." Playfully smirking and murmuring, "Who's arrow will go in deeper, you think?" she drew her arrow back tightly into place, and then released it to sing forward to its target (P2). After her shot, she gestured for Pyrra to open the door to prep for the next attack.

In reply to Mikael Vaeltaja (msg # 52):

Trapper, feeling invigorated by the second burst of healing, the half orc took a deep breath. He was not yet down for the count. He looked up from his blood spattered hood to see the man in the blue doublet narrowly parrying the strikes. He saw the numbers growing, and the half orc spat to the ground, remembering the fight in the alleyway and how Zin had rushed to aid him. Trapper flew forwards, whirling spinning his weapon about him, building momentum for the perfect stroke (adwonus moves to e8 and attacks p2

He swung his first blade across his foes chest, biting inwards, grinning as his weapon connected with his foes ribs.

22:08, Thu 04 June 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 12 using 1d8+5 ((7)).

The first blade passed, taking along a spraying trail of crimson with it. Before the pirate could retaliate, Trapper spun about, sending the second axe blade straight to his foe's temple.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

The Pirates body (P1) crumpled to the floor with the attack of Mikaels spear and the mighty swing of Adwonus' axe. As it fell, it revealed behind him, a cleric, ready to swing at his back with his morningstar. Adwonus and Mikael both looked  at Imbellem who still stood, ready to swing. A hot wash of shame swept over him and he smiled and shrugged with a face that implied him saying, 'whoops'. Mikael shook his head with a grin and ran off to battle, leaving Adwonus to roll his eyes. The cleric felt rather worthless, until he remembered why he ran over in the first place. Amongst the chaos of the fight at hand, Imbellem snapped his finger sharply which drew the trappers attention. The (still slightly embarrased) cleric dangled his wooden cross toward him, head tilted slightly sidways with a smile, as if asking for permission. The trapper nodded with a dry, deadpan face. The cleric hopped over the seemingly lifeless body of the pirate and quickly looked him over, moving closer to adwonus and imbellem lowered his head, speaking few words, being short on time and in the midst of chaos that surrounded them.

"Abba father, we thank you for your blessing on this mans body, I ask once again that you strengthen him, and bind his wounds with the power of your wings, and heal him. As it is done in your blood, we thank you, and ask for your aided protection. In your holy name, Amen"

Imbellem raised his head to see the orc-blood trotting off already to join in battle once again. The cleric exhaled with a smile and shook his head. Swiftly turning his attention to Zinvaris, who had been dodging like a master up until just recently when he took a jab to the body. His laugher and constant "A-HA!"'s were getting a little annoying. "Ay Zin!" Shouted Imbellem, grabbing the swordmans attention, "thought you were better than this, show me something cool! Unless... What I heard about you was wrong of course?" He added with a playful grin.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

I continue to shout direction and point to see that the directions are understood.

[Private to Lady Jacqueline Raynelde: "Jacqueline, quickly, you and Pyrra step to the left and shoot your deadly arrows (stealthily) at this pirate that is open to you, we will attack after your arrows fly. Have Pyrra open the gate after we act, and remain standing after you fire, we will likely need you to move up to still hit these enemies with precision {next round}."]
I wave my hand forward, perhaps motioning to Imbellem

After arrows fly past, I motion with my right hand toward toward Imbellem and up near Adwonus.
I motion for Imbellem to move up next to Adwonus front, "Tend to Adwonus wounds, we need him in the front! Godspeed brother."
"Adwonus, you and Zin take this one down! Flank him! {p2}."
"Mikael, give them a hand! Cover our center!"
I see the arrows in the cest of the pirate, the blood spray from the axe of Adwonus, with Mikaels rapier sticking through him, I move up and attack my opponent... p5
"Zin, Watch out for those pirates! but I am sure you can handle them- being as good a swordsman as you are, I bet they could barely scratch you! Now! step toward us! we wil cover your flank!"

As I tell Zin this I quickly move into position and exchange words with the pirate ahead opf me, before exacting retribution for his arrogance. Before he can respond to my attack, Dwalin too steps in and deals him more steel.

"Your leader said to talk to him after this, if we survive, he seems unable to respond, being he lost his head. You seem to think death is something you are unneeded to be concerned about, do you fear death so little? Perhaps meeting your own will change your mind about how unresponsive you are to it.

6. Zin attack p2 while flanking with Adwonus 5ft step to G9 and use as much combat expertise as you think it best, probably a lot. 8. DWALIN step to H9 and full attack p5.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Arrows sailed through the crowd and into the chest of their target with a satisfying thud {Jacqueline deals 14 Dmg to P2; Pyrra deals 15 Dmg to P2}. “I win,” said Pyrra to Jacqueline while opening the gate, enjoying their little contest.

Imbellem finished mending Adwonus and gave him a pat on the back, “You’re good to go!” Not wasting time with the courtesies, Adwonus immediately launched into an assault, together with Mikael, and rushed the arrow-stricken pirate. With axe and sword they hacked him down to size, and he fell to the ground in a bloodied heap {Adwonus deals 12 Dmg to P2; Mikael deals 8 Dmg to P2}.

Herr Johannes watched the edge of his polearm slice deeply into his own opponent; the force of the attack sent vibrations through the weapon and into his hands {Herr Johannes deals 17 Dmg to P5}. Still bearing a grudge toward the pirate, Dwalin bashed him in the face with his shield a second time, causing yet another tooth to fall to the ground {Dwalin deals 5 Dmg to P5; Dwalin misses P5}. Should that pirate survive this day, he’ll be a whole lot uglier than before. Zinvaris half-heartedly lunged toward that same pirate and missed, but he seemed unconcerned, parrying all the weapons around him with an effulgent delight {Zinvaris misses P5}.

Wounded, the pirate (P5) rasped to his companion behind him, “Go, get Gage,” who (P6) then bolted away from the battle in considerable haste, and out an exit on the far side. After uttering this command, the wounded pirate then turned and brought his sword down on Dwalin, but the dwarf once again raised his shield where the blade struck harmlessly {P5 misses Dwalin}. The other pirate staggered forward and took a wild swing at Mikael, but with elven reflexes, he sidestepped the blow, escaping with little more than papercut {P3 deals 1 Dmg to Mikael}.

Trapper yanked his axe from the pirates corpse with brutal ease. As soon as the weapon was free he spun towards the rat who had struck the elf, sending his axe blades in raking arch.

21:34, Sat 06 June 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 22 using 1d20+5 ((17))
The first blade connected, invigorated, the half orc continued the motion, swinging wildly.
damage:
21:40, Sat 06 June 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 11 using 1d8+5 ((6)).

21:40, Sat 06 June 2015: Adwonus Swillman rolled 10 using 1d20+5 ((5)).
The second stroke was not as strong, giving the foe a precious second to dodge the incoming weapon.
Trapper grimaced momentarily at his failure to kill the little man. He gripped his weapon and went back on the defensive. As Mikael moved, trapper took up position at f8(five foot step).

[After Johannes shouts order to the members of the party...]

after hearing Johannes' orders, Imbellem gave a smirk and a solute to the Paladin, who was in the heat of battle as war had seemed to seep into his mind. Quite impressive he remained calm actually. After the brutal swings of Adwonus. Imbellem hesitated, as if he had forgotten something... luckily for him, as two arrows came darting past him. He stood still for a moment and thought to himself, 'oh yeah. Arrows.' He then turned to the trapper, locked eyes, and Imebellem took a 5ft step to square E8 And wheeled back for a swing agian, intending on hitting his target before he died this time...

Now slightly worried about the name 'Gage', the cleric kept a watchful eye on the door as best he could as well as tried his best to listen for upcoming trouble... "Hope you didnt get your looks from your mother, Id hate to mess them up!" He shouted cockily as his morningstar came towards the mans head.

Lady Jacqueline pulled an arrow to shoot into P3, and quickly shuffles around the crate near the fort (to D4). "Pyrra, slowly and quietly go to the corner of the crate and the fort," (to F4), "and try to sneak attack him," she gestures to the pirate profusely bleeding (P3). Lady Jacqueline keeps her eyes and ears out for more enemies.

I step forward into G8 with the leader's dead body, and attack P3 with all I can muster.

}

After woefully missing, I shout a prayer. "My foot slipped, but You caught me!"

"Keep moving guys!" I try to keep the actions moving, even though my attack missed.

"Jacqueline, schleichen sich in Position auf der Oberseite des Schalters (nicht traf es am Unfall obwohl), haben Pyrra folgen Sie und bleiben Sie auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite der Kiste. Sie und Pyrra Überraschungsangriff diese ein, wenn Adwonus bewegt sich!"
[Private to Lady Jacqueline Raynelde: "Jacqueline, sneak into position on top of the switch {D4} (dont hit it on accident though), have Pyrra follow you and stay on the opposite side of the crate {F4}. You and Pyrra sneak attack this one {P3} when Adwonus moves!"]

"HOLD THE LINE GUYS! MAINTAIN THE SHIELD WALL!"
"Mikael, move up and attack this toothless pirate {P5}."
"Zin, you attack the same one."
"Dwalin, cover me and nail him. {P5}."
"Adwonus, move up and attack the one in front of you {P3}."
"JETZT Jacqueline! FEUER!" [Private to Lady Jacqueline Raynelde: "NOW Jacqueline! FIRE!"]
"Imellem, hold, hold, hold, NOW, move into position where Adwonus was and nail that pirate in the face!" I have him hold until the arrows wiz by, then I have him move in.

{ORDERS:
the order of events is the important part here, remember to mention that you do your turn at the specified time. -really important for cover and flanking.
1. Herr Johannes: 5ft step to G8 and attack P3, for my move action: draw a torch from Dwalin's pack (after attacking).
2. Mikael: 5ft step to F9 and attack p5. [Private to Mikael Vaeltaja: Remember your dodge and combat expertise being on the front line- same as Zin, p5 is close to death, but you are on the front line.]
6. Zin: attack P5, if you hit well, you could kill p5, combat expertise is up to you- you are on the front line, but you could kill p5 with a hit.
7. Dwalin: full attack P5.
2. Adwonus: full attack P3 and 5ft step to F8
3. Jacqueline: Do a move silently to D4, it will have to be at a -5 penalty for moving at normal speed. At D4 do a Hide/Sneak Attack on P3.

-Does kneeling make a difference for hide checks? I assumed yes, but I did not recall a definitive answer.
5. Imbellem: 5ft step to E8 and attack P3.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

Wait, that taunt don’t make sense,” pondered the pirate (P3) as Imbellem raised his mace. “You ‘ope I don’t inherit me mother’s looks, cause you don’t want t’ mess ‘em up  - you say this while you attack. Are you inferring that my mother feels affection for me only cause I resemble ‘er? Now, ignoring the fact that’d be a shallow basis for familial relations, that’d also mean you’re taunt is mainly aimed at ruining the relationship with me parents, which is an odd thing t’ say when you’re trying t’ kill a man; not t’ mention you know nothing of me family, making the whole taunt a hit or miss really.” Imbellem hesitated and froze mid-swing, trying to wrap his head around the surprisingly reasonable points the pirate made. After a moment he replied, “Uhh. . . I suppose I still have to work on my taunts. For now, try not to think about them too much.” Imbellem then finished his attack, walloping the pirate on the head {Imbellem deals 4 Dmg to P3}.

Adwonus glanced between Imbellem and their opponent trying to decide who was more ridiculous. Finally he realized he didn’t care, and unleashed his axes on the pirate {Adwonus deals 11 Dmg to P3; Adwonus misses P3}. Further behind, Jacqueline had darted to a new position and fired an arrow, but it missed, thudding into the nearby stack of crates {Jacqueline misses P3}.

Against the second pirate (P5), the remainder of the party closed in with a barrage of weapons. With tireless energy on the front line, like a machine, Dwalin swung his axe and shield in powerful sweeping motions {Dwalin deals 12 Dmg to P5; Dwalin deals 2 Dmg to P5}. Mikael lunged with his spear, but the pirate dodged, only, however, to walk into the tip of Zinvaris’ sword {Mikael misses P5; Zinvaris deals 3 Dmg to P5}.

Herr Johannes lifted his polearm, preparing to deliver the final blow, but he stepped too close to the decapitated body of the pirate leader and tripped on it {Herr Johannes fumbles}. He clumsily landed on the deceased form. The pirate (P5) laughed haughtily, “Hah! So weak even the dead can beat ‘chya.” His companion commented on the insult, “Hehe good one mate! You see? Now that’s a taunt: direct, insulting, and appropriate t’ the situation at ‘and.” “Folks these days just don’t understand the finer points ‘o banter,” the former responded. “Tis a shame too. When I was a lad, that was somethin’ that-” “Oh shut up,” interrupted Pyrra, surprisingly close to the battle. She then shot him in the head {Pyrra deals 6 Dmg to P5}.

As the pirate collapsed to the ground without another word, she pointed her bow toward the remaining enemy. “Down, now!” The pirate (P3) looked at his fallen companion then back at the foes on all sides. “Point taken,” he stated simply. He raised his hands in the air, letting his sword fall to the ground. “I give up. You win.

Pyrra then snapped at the party, “Let’s find what we need and get out of here. We have seconds til more arrive, a lot more. Hurry up!

Imbellem leaned toward Adwonus and whispered in his ear, “What a woman.” “Damn straight,” he replied.

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

An exhale of relief emerged from the cleric, at last, a moment of peace, and everyone was okay... for the most part. Adwonus had his blade on the pirate who had surrender and the others were catching their breath. "On your knees, hands on your head." He plainly stated, in a bit of a sour mood, "I may be a man of God who wouldnt take the life of an unarmed man, but im not sure about him. So dont do anything stupid." The pirate looked up at the trapper who simply smiled, nodding slightly he knelt to the ground. "Heres a rope" Imbellem stated, reaching into his pack and holding it out, "im not the best knotsmith, and im sure someone else could do a better job."  Imbellem turned to the remaining pirate and whispered with a tone of sass and a bit of anger perhaps, "By the way, that wasn't a bad taunt. It was in reference of your mother, who is a lovely woman and if you resembled her I would have hated to rearrange pleasant features the two of you may share... but upon closer inspection, I take it back. You have no facial features of your mother, she is far too beautiful." He finished explaing, and finally stood up again; feeling slightly better. He turned his head again down to the pirate for a final jab, "The only thing the two of you may have in common is your submissive nature." He said with a wink and a cocky smile, leaving the pirate.

"Ill begin picking up some of the lose weapons laying around, hopefully we can make some money off of them... also a crossbow for myself. Seems like fun to be able to cause some damage from afar after seeing it first hand. Im afraid im not the best at searching for things of importance.. im not even sure what we're looking for to be honest, so Ill leave that do most of you" Keeping a watchful eye and ear out for upcoming danger, imbellem quickly hops about the chaos they created in order to loot anything of interest or value.

As he walked, he turned to Pyrra, Bow still drawn on the man, he leaned closer to her and said quietly, just to her, "Thank you for sparing the mans life. It shows much character, and he may indeed have information for us. All in all; clever thinking. Im glad you helped us tonight" With a quick smile, he moved on to his duties.

[After the rope is taken to tie up the prisoner, Imbellem searches for lose items around the immediate area as quickly as possible including (but not limited to) weapons, dropped documents, lose gear, money pouches, bolts, etc.)]

Re: Chapter 1: Shadows of Herrod - Part 3.5

"Thank God..." I whisper as I see the fumble did not cost me anything but a slight stumble. I breath a sigh of relief.
"Thank God." I speak as I realize the current fight is over, with us as the winners and every person of our fold alive and able to function well.
"Thank God." I speak in expectation of further success. I breath in to prepair to speak.

Still in combat mode I begin directing almost as soon as I stand again. I remember part of the creed from my combat training, "Mission first, people always..."

"I can tell we will likely have company in a minute or less!

I need 2 people to watch the entrances,
Pyrra you take the north entrance where we say the pirate run out. Keep watch for enemies and let us know if any approach, nail 'em while you can and lay down caltrops when we fall back. This goes for the other door guard too! (Mikael/Imbellem)

Imbellem you take the other, but first grab some fallen weapons to fill your empty pack. Trade off with Mikael after you fill some space in the pack, and quick!

Jacqueline, take a look at this lever if you can disable it when we leave, so it is a one way trip and they cannot follow us. Get on that right away! Then give me a hand searching the leader for papers and other small items.

Mikael you pull security until Imbellem can finish, then he will take over for you while you help us search for info.

Mikael and Pyrra or whoever is guarding the door! do you have caltrops handy?!, both of you look down the hall to get a better idea of the layout and keep watch, let us know if you see anyone approaching or anything interesting. Give us a quick summary of what you see. And don't wait to spread those caltrops if you see enemies approaching! And fall back to the rest of us ASAP!"

"Anyone have caltrops for them? We need at least 3 bags to cover the area in front of the entrances. Pyrra needs 2 bags, Mikael 1. I think I have 2 bags, 1 at least.
" I ask as I pull a bag from my pack on Dwalin's back. I pull out a torch at the same time and put it into my belt.

"Adwonus, secure the prisoner for transport, leave his legs enough to walk, I don't want to carry him. If he tries something, kill him. Don't forget to gag him.

The rest of you, search the bodies, then the crates, make sure you get everything valuable from the bodies, each pick a body and search them. People with free packs like Imbellem and I, load the gear into them.

Lets go! go! go!
"

Upon hearing Adwonus need for Pyrra's help, I then speak to Zin. "Zin! I need you at the north door keeping watch until Pyrra can relieve you and you can help us search the bodies."

I go to the yellow coated leader then and search him grabbing his items as fast as I can and stuffing them into my pack. I look for letters and coin purses first. I offer the lighter items to Jacqueline, and take the heavier items in my pack.

I finally hastily go and grab a lit torch from the wall, and draw an oil from my belt which I light, as I hear enemies getting close. If they enter the room beyond the doorway, I throw the oil and the torch on the row of crates closest to the north entrance. I then pick up my polearm again which I had to set against the center stack of crates to grab the torch and oil.

{21:29, Today: [Private to GM: Secret Roll:] Herr Johannes rolled 14 [Private to GM: using 1d20.] Search Check of Yellow Leader.}

I keep an eye out for enemies and for the sound of enemies approaching. I look for what lights this room up as well.
