Defense:
9, 8, 8, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4, 3 & 3
*Defense vs Attack 26 + Footwork 15 + AB 5 + Laughs 5 - Disrupt 5 = 46 vs 50, a Ripple

A correction:  ZTF takes no wound; Cut Sleeve had Disrupted Damage.

Cut Sleeve-
Ripples 6
Trivial Wound (Bruised Ribs)
Disrupted Damage 50
Disrupted Speed 43
Disrupted Strike 69
Disrupted Footwork 62
Disoriented Hardiness 45

Initiative:
9, 9, 8, 7, 7, 6, 6, 4, 3 & 3
*Float 9-9
*Analyze Laughs with 27 + Tactics 10 + AB 5 = 42
*Minor Action:  Quiet Never Ends 26 + Breath Skill 5 + AB 5 = 36, Block and Toughness +5
*FoB with 18 + Breath Skill 5 + AB 5 = 1 Chi at end of round
*Init 23 + Speed 10 + AB 5 - Disrupt 5 = 33

Cut Sleeve slams his palm down immediately after striking Tien Fong's breastplate, shoving the blade into a pile of rubble and catching it there temporarily.  This allows him to take a step back, recovering his stance.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
10, 10, 7, 7, 5, 5, 3 & 1 (1 Chiv Joss)

River 2x5
3 chi on Submissive Steel + Hungry Falcon Edge
FOB: 2x10 + 10 Hardiness [FoB] + 5 AB = 35
Tactics Shaping Wave: 2x7 + 15 Tactics [Battlefield Analysis] + 5 HFE + 5 AB = 52. If not stopped, if TF successfully knocks Cut Sleeve back with an attack, he will be pushed +1 additional zone away.
Init: Going last.

A knowing glance.  A nod of acknowledgement of the challenge the youth has provided the seasoned commander. Then Tien Fong's goose-quill saber launches out from his grasp, ricocheting from pillar to pillar, building up momentum for its return strike.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Cut Sleeve Attack R6:
10, 7, 7, 6, 6, 5, 4, 4, 2 & 1
*1 Water Chi for Strike +5
*Attack ZTF with 27 + Strike 15 + AB 5 + IKF 5 + Laughs 5 = 57, Block -5
*Disrupt ZTF Strike with 26 + Tactics 10 + AB 5 + Laughs 5 = 46
*Disrupt ZTF Block with 24 + Tactics 10 + AB 5 + Laughs 5 = 44

Cut Sleeve makes no attempt to stop Tien Fong's saber, returning his own nod of acknowledgement- he wants to see what Tien Fong has up his sleeve.

His ensuing attack is a clinical, tactically sound attack with those twisting, turning motions that seek to make any response Tien Fong makes into the wrong one.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Tien Fong crosses his arms, channeling his chi outward to fortify his resistance to the palm strike barrage. While his frame bears the brunt of the blows, his imperial armor barely survives, leaving the commander with but a tattered cuirass and ravaged plates.

The ring of metal and the glint of steel distracts the youth for a split second, creating briefest of openings in his onslaught. That's all that the soldier needs. Tien Fong's blade returns effortlessly into its master's outstretched hand, the full force of its momentum propelling his plunging counterstrike straight into Cut Sleeve's midsection.

9, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 5 & 4

3 chi on Iron Pushing Snap
Defense: 2x9 + 10 Block + 5 Fighting with Fire - 5 Best Dodged + 10 Iron Pushing Snap + 5 AB = 54 vs 57, a Ripple
Defend vs Disrupt Strike 46: Flow out 1x5 for 3x5 + 15 Tactics (Disruption) + 5 AB = 55
Defend vs Disrupt Block 44:  Disrupted

Shaping Wave succeeds, extra zone on successful Knockback
1e chi + 1 chi for Dragon Claw Flexes
1e chi for Dragon Turns Over
9, 9, 8, 5, 4, 3, 3 & 2
Attack: 2x9 + 15 Strike (Rainfall by Night) + 10 DCF + 10 Fears (Profiting by their Panic) + 5 AB = 69
Flood 1x5 for Knockback 69 on successful hit (Into the Jaws of Hell)
Activate Sword weapon ability for free to force RR
Second KB Marvel: 2x3 + 5 Might + 10 DTO + 5 AB = 43
If one of these KB's connects, we're sending Cut Sleeve off the map

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Defense:
10, 10, 9, 8, 6, 6, 5, 4, 4 & 1
*2 Chi for IKF +5
*Flowed Defense 39 + Footwork 15 + AB 5 - Disrupt 5 + Laughs 5 + IKF 5 = 64 vs 69, a Ripple

EoB RR on ZTF:
*29 - Chi Aura 14 = 15, a Minor:  Wood Inspiration- Help Cut Sleeve's Master.  Bonus Entanglement whenever ZTF takes steps to assist Cut Sleeve in helping his master.

EoB RR on Cut Sleeve:
*26 - Chi Aura 15 = 11, a Trivial; if you make it a Likely condition, you can bump it up to Minor.

Cut Sleeve tries to recover, pouring on his chi- but Tien Fong's blade catches him by surprise.  The counterstrike catches Cut Sleeve dead on in the solar plexus, knocking the wind out of him and bowling him out of the arena.

"ZHENG TIEN FONG, VICTORY!"  The monk calls.

Cut Sleeve gets on his feet, shaking his head to clear the cobwebs of battle and confusion of adrenaline from his system.  His Chi settles down from a raging river to a more sedate stream, much more in line with his level of cultivation.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Tien Fong alights beside Cut Sleeve, extending a hand to the dazed youth.

"Well fought. Even in defeat you have taken yourself, and your opponent, to new heights. You have done your mistress proud."

Cut Sleeve's new Condition: Earth(?) Inspiration. Learn the Way of the Fourth Weapon. Cut Sleeve has seen firsthand how Tien Fong utilizes the battlefield to his advantage. Ever the pupil, Cut Sleeve desires to expand his arsenal and gains some kind of mechanical benefit for pursuing this new martial path. ZTF, of course, is more than willing to recruit, ahem, teach him.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Cut Sleeve takes the hand, shaking his head further.  "Thank you, Zheng Tien Fong," He says respectfully with a deep bow and starry eyes, "Thank you for forcing me to take my destiny into my own hands."

The monks give Zheng Tien Fong a dirty look.  He's totally destroyed one of their pillars, after all.

"Destiny," the commander smiles. "Sometimes she waits endlessly for you to claim her, but at times she forces your hand."

Tien Fong knows this truth by heart.

"My army can use a man of your talents. With Mistress Slowed Time's approval, of course."

Zhaimie lightfoots her way onto the roof, nodding to the two previous combatants as she enters the ring and awaits Razor Tai's entrance.  Hopefully, the fight with the Yun stylist will be something she can enjoy; at least it should be better than the "over almost before it began" fight against that would be scholar.

Razor Tai remained dressed in the thick clothes of a much colder climate as she entered the ring. She took a moment to gather some stray strands of her pale hair away from her face. Her left hand rested on the hilt of the ribbon sword they had already seen used once.

"FIGHT!" The monk shouts at the two.

"With her approval,"
Cut Sleeve agrees, calming his chi down.  He shakes his head and watches the two enter the field, "Though I wonder.  Your army.  Who do you have in it?"

Razor Tai's showed no inclination to answer. Or to close with Zhaime just yet. Her ribbon swords were out but moving in a slowing holding pattern of interlocked circles as she watched.

In reply to GMLian (msg # 234):

"My army? It consists of outsiders, the oppressed, the misunderstood. Almost all of them, like myself, see overthrowing the current regime as the only course left they can take. Are there groups in particular you would find it difficult to serve with?"

"And your mistress, did she accompany you to the tournament? I would ask her permission post-haste."

using Ten Tael Blow
attack with flowed 37 + 15 + 10 + 5 = 67, better blocked

Zhaimie waits a moment, and then shrugs to herself.  "Well, let us have a fight worthy of the Pillars of the Wulin which we represent," she says, and immediately after that her hands are flashing with the copper and silver coins she used so effectively on Stable Pillar.  It will be interesting to see how Razor Tai responds to them.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
(Defense: 9, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 2
Strike: 67 - 45 - 10 + 5 = 17 - 10 = 7  = hit
Knockback: 36 - 22 - 5 - 10 = miss

Init: 10, 9, 9, 8, 6, 4 & 3
Init: 18 + 15 + 10 = 33
Cover Ground: 29 + 10 + 10 = 49 + 5 (Lightfoot) = 54 (1 chi), bull rush trying to close with Zhaimie)

Razor Tai is stubborn as well as fast. She pushes through the barrage of coins without being driven back, her feet moving quickly around the strikes. The arena grows cold, the Yun Woman's breath visible as she moves between the dulled weapons. Most she avoids, others are absorbed by her thick clothes, but the rare few managed to catch her pale flesh.

floating 1-1
init 24 + 10 + 5 = 39
fob with 29 + 15 + 10 for 2 chi)

Zhaimie smiles as she sees Razor Tai charge towards the pillar she's on, trying to close with her.  She wants to fight worthwhile opponents, after all, and this is a very welcome change from her first round opponent.  In fact, she's quite moved by this display of tenacity and courage...

(attack: 10, 6, 6, 5, 5, 3 & 1

break cg using strike with flowed 31 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 56, broken
5 chi for R9B
attack with 26 + 10 + 10 + 5 + 25 = 76
burn with 25 + 10 + 10 + 5 = 50)

...enough so that she decides to reward the other woman by putting forth a much greater effort than she had planned to by this point in the tournament.  It isn't a worthwhile fight if you don't give it your best effort, after all!  So she funnels her chi into her hands and the coins, causing their glittering to brighten until they almost seem like brilliant sparks being held within her hands.

And then she starts flinging the coins, her hands and arms moving so quickly that they're little more than blurred afterimages, and the coins flashing like sparks off of a bonfire as they hurtle towards Razor Tai, deflecting off of each other and the rubble around her as she pushes forward.

Oddly enough, some of the deflections cause the coins to be slowed, down, bouncing and sliding right under Razor Tai's feet, preventing her from getting the footing she needs to properly climb the pillar.

Re: Arc 1, Session 5:  Heaven's Bell Peals Over Clouds
Razor Tai winced slightly as a coin caught her hip, making her stumble for a moment. Still, she'd robbed enough of the force from the attack that it was more a nagging nuasance than a wound. For now.

Still, she was forced to stop well away from her opponent, eyes flat as she snapped her head from side to side to take in the pillars that formed this battlefield.

A very slow smile formed as she came to a decision....

(No attack roll as she can't get close enough, and has nothing to flood to extend her range)
