The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

As various patrons of the tavern go about their business, the table closest to Silhouette catches her eye. The Dwarf was not so unusual - even with the jar of whatever it was - and the Drow didn't seem out of place in wherever the hell the inn was.

The winged one however caught her attention- She'd never seen one before, nor one that seemed intent on leaving the table as others arrived but still intended to keeps place. She watched for a moment longer, head tilted before she places two gold pieces down next to her food and slips quietly closer to the table, peeking at the others seated before whisping by the winged one and claiming an empty seat, making no attempt to announce hersef and no real attempt to hide either, feet up on the table and watching the winged one closely to see what happens.

The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

In reply to The Chronicler (msg # 29):

Tandon takes the complex social environment with ease   He removes the carves stick he’s chewing on with his left hand to reveal a brilliant and good natured smile.

He greets the merchants with a few jokes and inquiries and genuine interest in thier work. He accepts one of the kids to polish his boots and gives the fellow two copper while Ankhatup watches skeptically alert for pickpockets.

Other youth crowding in are motioned away with. ”Not now, let your colleagues’ work shine today I’ll be back again tomorrow. “

To the merchants he addresses ”Who is it I can speak to about the bulletin message asking for herbs?”
He spends several minutes lingering after getting that answer to find out more about his surroundings

What is this place? Where is it? Is it a small plane of its own or a location in a larger plane? How to they move their goods here and what is the environment for merchants? Do they have trouble getting anything? Are they organized?

These are the questions he seeks to answer and he will also assess what he thinks of how these competitors are to one another - are they cut throat antagonists or organized or something else? He keeps himself engaged and friendly as one who hope to work well with them.

The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

The Dark Elf received the ordered food a small picher of hot water.   Handing over 5 coppers the elf, the pitcher is hung from the unhooded lantern to keep it warm.  the simple clay mug on the tray is accepted, as well.
The tea is pour and in an oddly formal manor the elf sniffs the mug and the bowl of soup of the day, a piece of the hot meat pie, and rubs the edges of both liquid utensils. before taking a sip and taste.

Re: The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

Felmin felt some uneasiness at the strange - and a bit invasive in his opinion - way of answering his question.

Still, it was an answer, however uninformative as it was.

He checked his purse and found very little in it.

[Language unknown: "Evene, il ekseie Ommi pltr ieas nt noti, shelattic il t asti e ich th oveconous..."]

He wandered near the billboard and checked the various jobs offered.

He also added a piece of parchemin :

"You lost something, or it was stolen from you?  You need to find someone who's eluding you?  You are in dire need of crucial information?

Specialist Finder at your service,  Felmin Pasdeloup.

See with the usual man."

Now he only had to find the 'usual man' you needed to talk to for jobs here...

Re: The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

Alton had been running though he had escaped the Drow cities, monsters of the Under dark, and even slavers near the surface in a strange land a port city called Calimaport which was very different from the stories he had heard of the surface world.

It was an expedition into the great weeping wastes and a lost caravan, from the others he was separated by a raging sandstorm the wind uncovered a long buried entrance to the world below.  The winds and dirt pelted him like daggers, he could barely see as he worked to open the ancient door.....

In a howl of wind and cloud of dust a cloaked and face covered thin man fell into the floor of the Netherworld plane, he gasped and croaked a single word....through cracked lips

Language Common “Water!

The door from wherever this man came from slams shut behind him

As the door opens and a strange breeze blows in sand and.. a person.  The Dark alf Slips from the Table and Bolts to the Door, with a hop jumping completely over the prone figure.  And pulling the door open again.  Looking out into the foggy land scape noticing a.. possibly clockwork type creature standing at the door.

Ru57-8uck37:
"Excuse me, fleshy, bipedal units. What is this place?" it asks in a metallic voice. The tiles on the grid on its front plane rotate in a ripple, forming a crude, pixelated image of a humanoid nose and mouth.

The Elf rubbs a foot veryifing the sand and sniffs for remnants of the smells in the breeze.

. . Looking down the Figure suddenly freezes.. then replies to the stranged creature standing at the door. "[Language unknown: Osil t a Mehat io asinac i mianro ivehouect ckri whelis.. Re: The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

At first Alton had thought that perhaps his family had found him and transported him from the middle of the desert, but upon landing on the other side, he had determined that he was likely on a normative transitive plane.....

The strange door had been marked as the serpent at worlds end.

Alton was surprised to see other Drow in this place and that they seemed passingly friendly and appeared to treat other beings as equals rather than lessers.....

He was nearly certain that the mixture placed in front of him was similar to a mushroom drink he had before and others since in Calimaport.....

He rose and dusted himself off, showing the armor, rapier, buckler and hand crossbow under his cloak....In drow culture showing ones weapons was a sign of peaceful intent

The weapons and armor are drow crafted, but bear no marks of of any house, of any craftsman and without adornment of any kind.....

He rises and sips his tea..... and then settles on a chair nearby

Lestroniuk leaves the people at the table and goes to the message board. Reading for a while, he finally says to himself and anyone nearby:
"Ah, a merchant needs guards for the shipment to his destination, a grove. Now that seems a good mission to start.

Re: The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

The stillness of the portals was broken as energy began to crackle, arcing and connecting each portal even as it struck like lightning, each bolt of energy seemingly becoming entangled... With a vaguely humanoid shape.

Over several long seconds, the form gree more distinctly inside the cocoon of energy, the lightning like tendrils seeming to act as umbilical cord for whatever humanoid shape that was trying to emerge. It's arms splayed as if falling from a great height, or suffering a great agony, there was a final flash before the form collapsed on to the ground, breathing raggedly. A gauntleted fist prevented the smoking, green cloaked and hooded form from lying on the ground, but it was several long minutes more before the breathing slowed and normalized, and then the armored stranger slowly stood as he looked about his surroundings.

Eyes settling on the inn, the figure patted it's pockets and removed something, stared at it before entering the inn. Looking around he approached whomever seemed to be in charge saying, [Language unknown: "O onsourtha i os ion tend fi chmiss ur hasredand Sicefi?"]

Re: The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread

Rusty had retreated into his own mind, feeling the /pattern/ of this place. It was there. Rusty could feel the similarities to the pattern of his home, but it was different. Less regular. And difficult to sense completely, like looking at something through a swarm of fireflies. His meditation is interrupted by a creature exiting the structure he was standing in front of.

The dark-skinned fleshy said something to him. It spoke in a language that Rusty couldn't understand, though its body-language and actions seemed to indicate friendliness. Nothing in this strange world seemed unfriendly. Chaotic yes, like those fleshy adventurers he'd been following on Mechanus. Unfriendly, no. The chaotic sounds of the tavern blaring in his ears, he steps through the door and approaches the table the dark elf indicated.

When the winged lizard fleshy speaks, Rusty understands. "A task? Yes. Unit RU57-8UCK37 is ready for a task!" Finally something that made some sense.
