In reply to John D'Oh (msg # 547 of the Old The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread):

Antonio greets you. "Well met! Yes, the anvil has arrived. We set it up over where my father is working. Do you need anything?"

You'll pay monthly upkeep for your character as described in the DM's guide plus a monthly rent for using this facility. Roll 1d4 times 10, and that will be your cost for renting this space at this Weapon's and Armor Shop.

In reply to Hammerforge Delverdeep (msg # 549 of the Old The Netherworld Plane - Game Thread):

Antonio states that its not, and that they buy it from dwarves in far away lands through The Keeper.

In reply to The Chronicler (msg # 2):

John nods "aye. I picked up a bit of coin and this plate armor I'm wearing. I have my old crafted breastplate in my pack and wanted to know if you could help me sell it after I clean it up a bit. I need materials to try to duplicate a project I aided Victor on. Mechanics is an interesting science, don't you think?"

Antonio smiles, and nods agreement. "Sure, we'd be happy to help you sell it. You pay us to work here, and that entitles you to showroom space. When it's ready, we'll put it on display, and see what you can get for it."

Antonio is interrupted for a bit, makes a sale, and returns. He seems to be chomping at the bit about something. It turns out he's been stewing over your last comment.

"Mechanics? Mechanic's in armor? Do tell."

Carried over from the old The Netherworld Plane Campaign thread (Msg 549)

Ham grins broadly but sets the ale aside, within reach. I cannae afford that yet. It's very fine chain. Moradin's blood makes it all the finer indeed. Is the Mithral found around here? he asks and offers a dirty hand to the young man. He sees a familiar face and speaks to Jon D'oh; Well met forge brother. you have projects too? and offers the same dirty hand to Jon. It looks as if the dwarf has been digging with his bare hands. I've got no forge but I do have good tools and can bring the blessings of Moradin to any project.

In reply to The Chronicler (msg # 5):

John tells Antonio "Yes, mechanics within armor. Victor had armitures at the joints of his armor to make the movement of his elbows and knees less restricted. He also showed me how to create an aiming device for a ranged weapon. It requires tiny gears and a steady hand to create such works." He turns to Hammerforge adding "just some techniques I picked up."

Antonio listens with keen interest.

"Genius, if it works!" he says thoughtfully. "My father would hear of this. I'm sure he'll be as interested in learning this technique as much as I do."

Ham seems a little puzzled by Antonio's offer and waits for a break in the conversarion before replying. "I dunnae think you understand my interest young lord. I'm offerin you the blessings of Moradin and the gifts he's stowed upon me and my forgefathers before me.

I've heard of them clockwork sentinels built by crafty gnomes in the shallows. Even the Gob can screw battlefield scrap together. But my Great Grand Aunt does something different in her deep domain. She summons something out of the rock down there and imbues it's very soul into just about anything made of stone or forge crafted. She calls it an Elemental and claims not all of these imprisoned souls are maligned or outright hostile."

John says "I've heard of Hellforging, of course, but never anything to do with bound elementals. What do they call this technique of your Aunt's? Soulforging?" John pulls off his pack and pulls out his old, crafted breastplate. Beneath it are scribbled notes stuffed into a journal, one John had filled with diagrams and measurements while working and learning from Victor. "I've raw material here that I can reforge and experiment with. Notes and Diagrams, too. I plan to duplicate the work I did on Victor's armor to aid myself with ranged weaponry. Once I've Mastered the techniques and processes for that gearwork, I'll attempt something more ambitious, like armitures in this plate armor I wear."

Choosing to wait for the dwarf to answer John's question so as not to appear ignorant, he instead says,

"I once had a man come in wearing a greenish tinged armor that my father called hellforged. It stank to high heaven, and he seemed to be burdened down as if the armor weighed twice what it looked in weight. He was an unfriendly sort, so I didn't inquire about the armor though my curiosity was quite piqued."

When John mentions soulforging, Antonio cannot hide the fact he knows nothing about this art either, because his next question reflects the fact as he tries to get a glimpse of the notes John has produced.

"Souls? How do you use souls in armor?"

Ham shrugs; "Soulforging...sounds more like death mqgic, well,  perhaps, but these aren't souls as I understand the concept. they are feral and furious until she either dismisses them or binds them.

"Sounds......interesting. But I don't tend to play with souls and spirits...I leave that to the priests and wizards. Good, honest steel and other materials from the natural world are what I put my trust in. That, and science." John says.
