The shopfront is unusually tall building for Netherworld standards.

Lilianne is a tall and slim sun elf with large almond-shaped eyes and aristocratic features. Her hair is platinum blonde, cascading down to her waist but typically kept in check with strickt braids. Her eyes are the palest of blues which seemed to be aglow lightly. Dressed in pale grey, but expensive, silk robes of exceptional craftmanship, an embroidered cloak and carrying a dagger and staff she looks very much the typical elven wizard. An elaborately crafted amulet circled her neck. The staff in her hand and the wands on her belt indicated she knew how to use the Art.

"Welcome to my shop, how can I assist you today?" she addresses you in a gentle voice.

A monkey goblin enters the shop and addresses the sun elf. "Good day, pretty lady. Are you capable of putting a deflective dweomer on this fine mithral shirt I wear? "

The Elven woman seemed kind of busy, sorting new scrolls on a shelf. When the alchemist turned she seemed startled by the goblin. "Uh... sorry I didn't notice you earlier, I was lost in thought." she appologized for taking longer than normal to notice him.

She looked apologetically at Greb "In order to enchant your chain shirt..." she began, moving closer to inspect the armor a little more. "Splendid craftsmanship by the way, for that you would need somebody with experience in enchanting arms and armor. I'm sorry that is not in my skillset." she elaborated.

"But I do have your cloak, as ordered. Here you go!" the tall elf told Greb and put a finely crafted cloak on the counter. "I am sorry it took a while, please take these healing potions and a flask of alchemist's fire as a token of grattitude for your patience."

"Not a problem, Good Lady. It takes a lot to specialize in more than one or two forms of craftsmanship, be it mundane or arcane."

The gave the goblin a slight nod of thanks for his understanding "Thank you for your understanding, my expertise is limited to scrolls, potions, wands and items of wonder; that covers a lot of demand. Perhaps at a later time I can expand my knowledge." she said with a gentle smile.

ooc: Lilianne is a DnD character, however, GMs have granted some leeway as to offering Pathfinder exclusive gear, so your request for potions of Infernal Healing are fine. Otherwise we'd need double the number of PC crafters to cover all aspects :)

Garret enters the shop and looks about for the person in charge.

It takes a moment during which some rustling and pushing of items can be heard on the other side of the counter, until the proprietor of the establishment stands up from behind. Her eyes take in the figure before the desk and a slim smile appears on her lips. "Good day to you, sir. How can I help you?" she asks kindly.

Well I’m looking for that but I would like to combine it with some other properties, is that the sort of thing you can do?

Hello I’m unsure what to role play. If I want to just get something enchanted to +1 do we RP that? If I am buying a wonderous item from MIC or pfsrd is it RP? Is there a chance we can or can’t get it? If we want to combine items to something new can you do that?

There is probably a FAQ I should have looked at.

The elf smiled gently, "Of course I can fashion that kind of gloves for you, how strong should the enchantment be? Or better: How much gold are you willing to invest?" she asked curiously. "Anything else I can help you with?"

One option is combining some of the properties of the uh... novice shadow hands? These gloves enable an extra maneuver from the shadow hand discipline 3,000gp

Another is to combine with brute gauntlets MIC 500gp.

The elf raised an eyebrow at the initial request then nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, I can add the effects of what is called 'Brute Gauntlets' to your gloves. However, in order to add the 'novice shadow hand' traits I would need to be skilled in that maneuver myself. I am not so I will have to refer you to Nishka if you require this property to be part of your set of gloves." the mage replied.

"The cost for the added properties from the gauntlets will increase the price by 750 gold coins, but you still haven't given me a number to indicate how strong you want those gloves of dexterity to be?" Lilianne added in a soft voice, reiterating her request.

ooc: Assuming this 'Novice Shadow Hand' maneuver is from a warrior handbook, it's not possible for Lili to add that to the gloves. The prerequisite for adding a feat's benefit or ability to a magic item commonly requires the creator to actually have the ability or feat, which the elf has not, hence it's not within her capabilities. You can either forego the maneuver and take the gloves with brute gauntlet effects, take them to Nishka and ask the maneuver to be added for the add-on price or go to Nishka and ask for the bunch of all features at once. :(

Before the crafter could answer the gnome changed his mind, "Well, you could assist in creating the gloves, that would allow incorporation of the ability you mentioned. However, you'd need to be present for the whole duration I would be working on the order. So, for the next eight days, eight hours per day. For all three of your requests you would have to come up with 9,250 gold, if you only want the powers of the Brute Gauntlets combined with the Gloves of Dexterity it would be only 4,750 gold." the elf explained in detail, it was apparent that she had all the time in the world, as if she would live for hundreds of years - which was the case.

The mage thought for a moment before adding "I can offer you a 10% discount, hoping to make you a repeat customer. How does that sound?" she suggested with a benevolent smile. "Let me know your decision."

ooc: Adding abilities to items costs 1.5x the price for the second item, so 4,000 base for gloves of dexterity, 500 x 1.5 = 750gp for Brute Gauntlets and 3,000 x 1.5 = 4,500gp on top for the Shadow Hand maneuver. That would be 9,250gp total. Or 4,750gp for Dex & Brute options, both variants at 10% discount.

I paid 5,000 Gears (gp) for it when that was all I had, and it kept me alive in terrible places. I care for it with machine oil every week and it is still every bit as valuable as the day I got it. I could only sell it for 2,500 but I also have this.

He shows her a diamond worth 5,000gp

It has been appraised at 5,000 gears and could be used for special magic spells as well as for currency.

In addition I have 6 potions of Cure moderate wounds.

and if I add another 800gp that should be just about enough - is that acceptable?

Alton eventually makes his way to this shop  as well....he enters and is hesitant, as he has projects in the works and knows he will eventually need some scrolls....

"Greetings, I am Alton....I will need some scrolls a bit later on, but was acctually looking to rent an alchemists lab in the near future."

Lilianne watched the gnome taking off his toolbelt and frowned when he held it out to offer for trade. Gingerly she took it into her hands, clearly unhappy with the oily item, knowing elves would have preserved the belt with less slippery preservatives. She placed it on the counter then turned half over her should "Jaqueline! - I need your expertise!" she shouted, then took the diamond into her hand.

"As mentioned, the total would be 9,250 gold and if you subtract the ten percent discount you get 8,325 gold. If my jeweler confirms the value of the diamond to be 5,000 and I accept your... toolbelt for 2,500, 800 additional coins will add up to 8,300. The 25 coins that are missing I shall wave, keep the healing potions." the elf explained.

As the white-haired drow entered Lilianne's face soured, her past tainted by bad encounters with the subterrain dwellers. "I will be with you in a moment. Have a look around." she said, inviting the man to browse - her eyes never leaving him.

Soon a young tiefling entered from the door behind the counter. "Well met." she greeted those present and took the jewel, proffered by her employer, putting a monocle in her eye to examine the jewel. "Five thousand he said?" she repeated the stated value. "Yeah, I'd say it's good enough for that amount." Jackie confirmed with a nod, rolling the diamond between her fingers while enjoying the reflections.

"Excellent!" the mage commented, giving the gnome a beaming smile. "I shall await your presence tomorrow, 8 am - sharp. We shall start working on your item early, I will obtain the necessary ingredients until then." the elf concluded the interaction, "Have a good day."

"Now then. You are looking to rent my laboratoire? I see. That can be arranged. Will you need assistance crafting your items?" she asked, trying to assess whether her staff would be hired, too.

"Fear not dear lady I am not an evil person, just a humble factotum and trapsmith....Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions, as the things I intend to create may already be here for simple purchase.....I am in need of the following items if you have them..an auran mask, bitterleaf oil, eggshell grenades, Ipecac, a few insectbane candles, torchbug paste.....Quality trapsmith tools, and some minor scrolls."

"Auran mask is a very useful thing it was part of how I escaped from the evil people who dwell below...."

Garret gives his treasure to the lady. When he leaves he will carefully assess what he has left and make plans to trade away the things he doesn’t truly need.

"Faktotum?" the elf repeated, casting a glance with a raised eyebrow at her tiefling employee. "Well, we do have the materials you need in stock. However, we do not have the finished products you seek. I can offer you assistance to ensure a successful outcome of your work, maybe even quicker." she suggested without change of her tone.

ooc: Lilianne's employees can grant the usual +2 to skill checks for aid another. Also, it might make crafting items with a high DC safe(r). Her skill mod is +20, production could be a bit faster, too (see craft skill).

"Yes a factotum a person interested in the pursuit of knowledge of all sorts, a dabbler in many things, a jack of all trades if you will, even in my own innate magics...some societies require single minded focus, so dabbling is deadly.."

"I see." the shop owner replies. "For how long do you wish to rent my lab?" the mage gently inquires.

"Just for the time it takes, me and your most capibile assistant to finish crafting the items I had mentioned, some of which are singular items, and others I intend to have multiples of....what is your rate, I do not wish to run out of funds."

The elf mage fell silent for a moment before answering "Darren is a capable aid, he'll get paid 3 silver per day. Rent for my lab will be 5 silver per day." she stated. "And I have your promise it will not be utilized for poison or other evil shenanigans!" Lilianne insisted strongly.

"I will not lie to you lady fair, though I be a drow master of poisons, I deal only in things that stun or cause sleep and traffic not in the most evil of poisons, though I have full knowledge of it.  I shall start first thing tomorrow, and look forward to working with your assistant. "

"Very well. - Tell me when you wish to start your work and I will make sure the lab is not occupied and Darren is there to assist you." she told him gently.

"Good morning.  I am here for the  lab, materials and assistance."

ooc: Sorry, I completely lost track of this. My sincere apologies.

The woman looked up from the ledger she was writing in as the drow entered, for an instant it looked like she was ready to fling a spell at him but it seemed she realized he had been a customer before and thus was not a demon. "Ah yes of course." she replied, giving an affirmative nod. "Follow me then." the mage said, gesturing to follow her. The elf moved effortlessly through the door and down a narrow set of stairs, it seemed logical to keep things that might go 'boom' in a place where damage or injury could be contained. A man, dressed in commoners clothes and a leather apron, stood at the opposite side of a comparatively large room, restocking supplies as it seemed. When the brown-haired assistant heard the door open, he turned around and inclined his head respectfully toward his employer. "Ma'am, how can I be of assistance?" he said with a surprisingly rich voice, which did sound like it came from a much larger man.

"I bring you a customer who would like to use our equipment for his own purposes, he also requested help crafting his alchemical substances. Please assist him like you would assist me." the owner said and turned towards the drow "I leave you to it then." she told the two men and left them in the candle-lit basement.

"Good day, sir. My name is Darren, how would you like to start..?"

"Darren, yes of course I have some formula, the first one is an auran mask, nothing insideous or dangerous of course, fairly tame  actually."

Alton starts to familiarize himself with the lab and where everything is...


"In addition to the auran mask, I intend to craft these items..a bottle of bitterleaf oil, a couple of insectbane candles, torchbug paste,a bottle of Ipecac, and a few eggshell grenades."

Jem walks into Lilliane's, and looks around.  "Hello?" he calls.

"What?" a melodic female voice said, coming from somewhere behind the counter. A head showed up and two blue eyes set in the delicate face of an elven woman looked at the new customer. "Oh, a customer." she commented to nobody in particular and straightened herself. Long blond hair fell beyond her shoulders and the woman, dressed in blue robes, addressed the man before her. "Welcome to my humble shop, how can I assist you?" she asked, gesturing at the eclectic collection of curiosities, scrolls and potions, books and wands.

"I think I might be interested in some of those." Jem says, pointing to the scrolls and potions.  "But please could you explain to me how they work, first?"

His bright blue coverall, neatly pressed and spotlessly clean, indicates that he might not be from around here.

The elf gave Jem a look that seemed to imply her curiosity was piqued, but then took one of the potion flasks "Potions are typically imbibed in one gulp, some of the stronger healing potions can be split into several mouthfulls for partial results. The oils in the vials are spread over the item in question: a sword, arrows or a garment." she explained, then put the flask back on the counter. "Scrolls require some ability to cast spells, either arcane or divine in nature. You can then use the scroll to invoke the magic. Only few people who do not know how to cast a spell are capable of using a scroll successfully and there is a risk involved of the magic going awry." the mage elaborated. "Does that answer your query?"

"It is a good start." Jem responds with a grin.  "I have never seen anything like those before.  I have seen spells in ampoules and in crystals, but never in that form."  He pauses for a moment as he considers the words more fully.  "Nor and I conversant with those different casting types that you mentioned.  Divine and Arcane.  What does that mean?"

The elf raised an eyebrow at the fellow's words but went on as requested. "Gods and some celestial beings can grant blessings upon those who sincerely worship them in the form of spells or small miracles. Those are called divine magics." she explained patiently. "Then there are those who know how to manipulate the powers that permeate the universe through formulas which change reality. Those are called arcane magics." she told him.

She took a longer look at the man "Since you are not familiar with either type of magic, may I suggest you choose a potion or permanently enhanced item? What kind of effect are you looking for? Healing magics, items that enhance your strength or speed?" she asked kindly.

Jem frowns, "Well, the universe itself gives me my magic, it is my focus and, one day, I hope to become one with it.  I suppose, according to your definitions, that means I use divine magic?" He asks with a questioning note in his voice.  Then, apologetically, he adds "We don't think in those terms, where I come from."


"Perhaps a small scroll with something that is divine magic on it? To test it?" He suggests, "Although I need to find somewhere to get some of your money.  All of mine is on this ..." he says, holding up a cred-stick.

As Jem and Lillian look at his cred-stick, it warps and twists, turning into a wash-leather purse that proves to be filled with metal coins and polished gems.  Pulling back in startlement, it returns to it's technological form, but returns to gems-and-metals when extended once more.

"Errr ... wow." is all that Jem can say, as the credstick changes form, and then back again.  Then he tries it a couple of times more, just to prove to himself that it works.

"I'll assume that answers your currency related question." the elf commented with a smirk before picking up a slender wooden stick and offering it to Jem "How about we verify your assumption using this wand." she offered and gestured towards an empty bucket. "Just say 'Eldath be praised' and the bucket should fill with water." Lilianne instructed the stranger, nodding in encouragement.

It is clear that Jem isn't familiar with the wand either.  He turns it around a couple of times as he inspects it, and then aims it at the bucket.  "Eldath be praised." he says loudly and forcefully.

OOC:  Now we need to wait for Artifex to tell us the outcome  :)

ooc: Wand 'Create Water', Caster Level 1. Should create two gallons of water in said bucket.

Jem points the wand at the bucket and it quickly fills with pure, crisp, clear water.

"Excellent." the elf beams "That confirms you can use items with divine magic. What kind of effects are you looking for so I can help you select the most suitable magic for you?" Lilianne asks, looking at Jem.

"I didn't know you could store spells in sticks" Jem exclaims with delight, then looks around for a bin, then asks,  "What should I do with the empty stick?"

It is a moment or two before he continues, "Perhaps something that lets me understand languages?" he suggests, "We have come across some really alien writings recently, and I have feeling that there will be more of the same in the future."

Lilianne chuckled, a sweet, lighthearted sound. "The stick holds 50 charges when it is newly created, this one can still be used 41 times before it looses its potency." she said, taking the wand from his hand.

"There are several items that will allow you to understand unknown languages. It can be conserved on a scroll, a wand or in a permanent item - something like a helmet - that will not loose its magic. Of course the latter is rather expensive compared to the other two options." the elf went on. "A scroll can hold half a dozen spells and once each of them was used, the scroll becomes useless and crumbles into dust. Six spells of comprehending languages will cost you 150 golden coins. A wand holding 50 charges of said spell will cost 750 coins and a helmet, given its permanent enchantment, will cost 5,200 gold pieces." she told Jem, giving him a gentle smile. "I have a wand ready, writing the scrolls will take a day and five days to construct the helmet." the wizardess told him.

Appearing as a normal helmet, a helm of comprehend languages and read magic grants its wearer the ability to understand the spoken words of any creature and to read text in any language and any magical writing. The wearer gains a +5 competence bonus on Decipher Script checks to understand messages written in incomplete, archaic, or exotic forms. Note that understanding a magical text does not necessarily imply spell use.

A large blond man, muscles rippling, walks in covered in forge leathers and carrying two large full sacks. He unpacks them, laying out a gleaming full plate suit of mithril. "Hey, Lil, aren't you forgetting something? As agreed, 4200 gold for a 2nd tier defensive enchantment.  4000 for the enchantment, and 5 percent more to cover the damages from the demonic incursion?" he says, pulling out a third heavy sack. He hands it over, adding "that'll take 2 or 3 days, right? I'll have a shield for you to enchant by then. Thanks. Oh, sorry, didn't see you there. John D'oh at your service. Weapon and armorsmith." he says to Jem.

"I had better see how much of your money I have." Jem replies as he holds the pouch out towards Lilliane and lets the coins spill out onto a bench.

OOC:  Waiting for Artifex to convert for me.  BUT  probably only enough for a scroll  :)

"Err.  Hello Mr D'oh.  My name is Jem." Jem replies as he finishes counting his coins out.  "That is an impressive suit of armour that you have there.  It looks heavy though." he comments as the sacks are unloaded.

With a wry smile, he turns back to Lilliane.  It looks like I can afford a scroll with two of those spells on.  Things are really expensive here ..." Instinctively  her returns the rest of the coins to the pouch, a measly collection  of silver and copper coins, and slides the pouch/credstick back into the breast pocket of his immaculate looking station suit.

Maybe next time I come, I'll have to see if I can bring a few of our bits and pieces with us to sell ...

John shakes his head. "Actually quite light as full suits go. 25 pounds right now, might get a little heavier later when I add some advanced mechanics to it."

"John d'Oh, I will be right with you." the elf said, turning her attention towards her previous customer. Lilianne nodded at Jem's words "Of course you can bring items for analysis, I will be happy to help. Now, I shall prepare a scroll with two uses of the Comprehend Languages magic. You can pick it up tomorrow morning." she said with a gentle smile.

"John, how many times do I have to insist you call me Lilianne, there is always enough time for that." the mage told him with a mild chiding tone. "And you should know that I do not enchant arms or armor, it is not on my sign and it is not my expertise." the older elf explained patiently.

"Interesting ..." Jem comments as he reaches out to lift, a piece of the armour and weigh it in his hand.  "It is a very nice looking suit," he adds,  "And just as light as you say."

John looks a little sheepish as he packs the armor back into the sacks. "I know, I know....Nishka for arms and armor. But you know I just come in here to admire your beauty, don't you?"

"Indeed, and you know that I am still waiting for an invitation to dinner." the Elven mage replied, giving the strapping young man a head to toe look and biting her lip coquettishly. After pausing for a heartbeat she picked up a quill and delicately dunked the tip into a vial of ink, putting some notes on a ledger. It seemed her mind had already moved on from the instant of lightheartedness.

A day later the scrolls are ready for pickup.

Upon entering you notice a drow greeting a young man wearing a leather apron, obviously an employee, and a mature looking elf in gray robes putting a book back onto a shelf.

 the elf greeted the robed proprietess. "How are you this fine day?"

Entering the establishment, a pace behind Lysande (indeed, almost treading on her heels in her eagerness), Berta looks around at all the magical accoutrements on display, albeit with a most inexpert air, and more kind interest than appreciation for what she sees.

As Lysande greets the woman, assumedly her cousin, the warrior-woman stands patiently, a warm smile on her face, awaiting the promised introduction.

"Lysande?" the older elf responded with what appeared to be surprise. "Did you finish your mission so quickly? I expected it would take at least a fortnight if not longer. - Did you bring the money you owe me? - And who is that amazon at your side?" the crafter asked in rapid succession, her rhythm of speech sounding very much like Lysande's.

The younger elf rolled her eyes at the questions shot as quickly as coming from a repeating crossbow, her face clearly showing she was annoyed. "No, I have not finished that mission. Yes, I have an advance from the Keeper to balance my account and if you would take the time to breathe I would have introduced my companion as Berta Roth, proprietress of 'The Dragon's Inn' and currently guarding the cargo I have been asked to protect." she said rummaging in her pack to retrieve a small bag of coins. "Here you go, next time try not to sound like a greedy dwarf when you ask for it." Lysande added, putting the bag down in the other elf's outstretched hand.

Berta grins broadly at the exchange between the cousins.

"Not an amazon, though I'll allow 'amazing'," the warrior-woman ripostes, inclining her head in acknowledgement to Lilliane after Lysane's introduction.

"Nice place you have here.  Can't miss it.  Must be good for business."

Lilianne looked insulted at being compared to a dwarf, then impulsively gave the shorter elf a hug "It is good to see you are alive and well." the sage said, then let go of her kin again. She was older than the red head, but it was difficult to tell if it was decades or centuries, one thing was sure: The shop owner had seen more than a couple of human generations come and go.

The older elf looked at the warrior and gave her a slight smile "Well met, Berta Roth. I hope my cousin here has not been a burden?" she asked as she gripped the bag offered by Lysande and weighed the coins in her hand. Alton is happy as he complete the auran mask, a thing that had allowed him to escape the society of the drow along with the healing concoction meant for the wounds of the lizard mounts that he had found worked as well on his own wounds a discovery made applying the oils by hand....

Today he focuses his work on the last thing that he cannot just buy off the market....a large dose of ipecac....

"Not at all - she's made it her personal mission to introduce me to the finer things in life," Berta replies to Lilliane.  "And I'm more than willing to let her," the warrior-woman adds smiling at Lysande.

"My brothers and I certainly welcome her assistance on our current job ... talking of which, I'm afraid I'm financially embarrassed at the moment," the moreso, really, at having what few coins she had stolen from her, "but I'll certainly be back once we finish up and get paid."

"Might have to get your cousin to show me her trick with the door, though ..." Berta grins.

The blonde elf nodded in understanding at Berta's financial issues, too many adventurers suffered from the same problem. She walked over to a shelf that held a number of flasks, all neatly labeled. Finding one the alchemist took it and went back to the warrior, "I heard the road is threatened by trolls." she said, her long, delicate fingers putting it into Berta's hands. "Use this to light up the troll, then keep the fire burning by throwing oil at them." the older elf instructed her. "And keep my cousin safe." the mage added, her eyes glancing at Lysande.

"I ..." Berta begins, surprised at the kind and thoughtful gesture, and floundering a bit as she works out how to graciously refuse, unused to either the kindness nor the need to think about what she says.

But after the request that follows on hard, it would be more than churlish to say no to one and not the other, particularly when she's every intention of walking that path anyway.

"I can do that," the warrior-woman finishes, happy to make that promise even as she accepts the gift.  "And your advice is equally welcome."

Her own plan had been to cut the creature till it fell, then set about burning it, or more properly set her brothers to the task, but Lilianne's suggestion seems somewhat less fraught !

Lysande was about to protest, claiming that she was perfectly able to look out for herself but she noted the tone of concern for her wellbeing in the voice of her cousin and all she could do was open and close her mouth like a fish out of the water. Berta's acceptance of the burden Lilianne place upon her caught the younger mage by surprise and all she managed to comment was a meek "Thank you."

Forcing down the lump in her throat Lysande put a hand on Berta's shoulder "I, uh... I think we should leave and finish our shopping tour, or your brothers will get worried."

"They do tend to worry when I'm out of their sight," Berta agrees, grinning as she attempts a jest to divert Lysande.  "If perhaps the moreso for what I might do to the Netherworld than for any concern over my welfare !"

"Shopping it is ... it was nice to meet you," the warrior-woman inclines her head to Lilliane, raising the hand that clutches the gifted flask to thank her once more.

"I'll be back with your cousin when our business is done, hopefully soon."

"May the gods smile upon you!" the shop keeper replied with a nod and turned back to her work.

A messenger arrives with an ornately wrapped box addressed to Lillianne. On it is a simple card:

Alton is happy with the days work as his batch comes to fruition....

He rubs his new earring setting the clockwork mechanism into action....

"Same time tomorrow?"

"The gods are smiling at us, I feel," Berta mutters to Lysande as the pair make their exit.

"Or more like they are rolling around the heavens splitting their sides with laughter !"

Lysande chuckled at Berta's comment, nodding in amused agreement. Without further detours, the elf leads the warrior back the way they came, ending their little excursion at the same place they left the streets of Nesmé.

ooc: Back to the adventure thread.

"You're really going to have to show me how you do that," Berta says, her tone wavering between admiration and envy as Lysande opens a door to reveal a portal between places.  "That could be a very useful trick !"

The warrior woman pulls her heavy winter cloak tightly about her in preparation for the weather on the other side as she follows the Elf through ...

The young alchemist's assistance was showing Alton out and nodded "Yes sir, I will be waiting for you same time tomorrow morning." Darren confirmed, his voice friendly, but business like.

Lilianne gave the dark elf an acknowledging nod as he left and Alton could not help but think that there had to be some bad experiences behind the shop owner's resentments.

"You are very welcome.  I hope to return tomorrow....keeper willing.."

Is it worthwhile to share personal anectdotes with Darren during work?

Alton returns  the next morning through the shop to the lab space beyond, as he comes in he meets up with Darren.....

"Good morning, I am arrived and ready to start upon yet more minor projects,  I am sure when word gets around about  the lab space there will be other clamoring to rent it."

Alton points to his custom mechanized and magical earring...
