You know gloves that make you quicker and more nimble? (gloves of dexterity)
Well I’m looking for that but I would like to combine it with some other properties, is that the sort of thing you can do?

Hello I’m unsure what to role play. If I want to just get something enchanted to +1 do we RP that? If I am buying a wonderous item from MIC or pfsrd is it RP? Is there a chance we can or can’t get it? If we want to combine items to something new can you do that?

There is probably a FAQ I should have looked at.

The elf smiled gently, "Of course I can fashion that kind of gloves for you, how strong should the enchantment be? Or better: How much gold are you willing to invest?" she asked curiously. "Anything else I can help you with?"

One option is combining some of the properties of the uh... novice shadow hands? These gloves enable an extra maneuver from the shadow hand discipline 3,000gp

Another is to combine with brute gauntlets MIC 500gp.

The elf raised an eyebrow at the initial request then nodded thoughtfully. "Yes, I can add the effects of what is called 'Brute Gauntlets' to your gloves. However, in order to add the 'novice shadow hand' traits I would need to be skilled in that maneuver myself. I am not so I will have to refer you to Nishka if you require this property to be part of your set of gloves." the mage replied.

"The cost for the added properties from the gauntlets will increase the price by 750 gold coins, but you still haven't given me a number to indicate how strong you want those gloves of dexterity to be?" Lilianne added in a soft voice, reiterating her request.

ooc: Assuming this 'Novice Shadow Hand' maneuver is from a warrior handbook, it's not possible for Lili to add that to the gloves. The prerequisite for adding a feat's benefit or ability to a magic item commonly requires the creator to actually have the ability or feat, which the elf has not, hence it's not within her capabilities. You can either forego the maneuver and take the gloves with brute gauntlet effects, take them to Nishka and ask the maneuver to be added for the add-on price or go to Nishka and ask for the bunch of all features at once. :(

Before the crafter could answer the gnome changed his mind, "Well, you could assist in creating the gloves, that would allow incorporation of the ability you mentioned. However, you'd need to be present for the whole duration I would be working on the order. So, for the next eight days, eight hours per day. For all three of your requests you would have to come up with 9,250 gold, if you only want the powers of the Brute Gauntlets combined with the Gloves of Dexterity it would be only 4,750 gold." the elf explained in detail, it was apparent that she had all the time in the world, as if she would live for hundreds of years - which was the case.

The mage thought for a moment before adding "I can offer you a 10% discount, hoping to make you a repeat customer. How does that sound?" she suggested with a benevolent smile. "Let me know your decision."

ooc: Adding abilities to items costs 1.5x the price for the second item, so 4,000 base for gloves of dexterity, 500 x 1.5 = 750gp for Brute Gauntlets and 3,000 x 1.5 = 4,500gp on top for the Shadow Hand maneuver. That would be 9,250gp total. Or 4,750gp for Dex & Brute options, both variants at 10% discount.

I paid 5,000 Gears (gp) for it when that was all I had, and it kept me alive in terrible places. I care for it with machine oil every week and it is still every bit as valuable as the day I got it. I could only sell it for 2,500 but I also have this.

It has been appraised at 5,000 gears and could be used for special magic spells as well as for currency.

In addition I have 6 potions of Cure moderate wounds.

and if I add another 800gp that should be just about enough - is that acceptable?

Alton eventually makes his way to this shop  as well....he enters and is hesitant, as he has projects in the works and knows he will eventually need some scrolls....

"Greetings, I am Alton....I will need some scrolls a bit later on, but was acctually looking to rent an alchemists lab in the near future."

Lilianne watched the gnome taking off his toolbelt and frowned when he held it out to offer for trade. Gingerly she took it into her hands, clearly unhappy with the oily item, knowing elves would have preserved the belt with less slippery preservatives. She placed it on the counter then turned half over her should "Jaqueline! - I need your expertise!" she shouted, then took the diamond into her hand.

"As mentioned, the total would be 9,250 gold and if you subtract the ten percent discount you get 8,325 gold. If my jeweler confirms the value of the diamond to be 5,000 and I accept your... toolbelt for 2,500, 800 additional coins will add up to 8,300. The 25 coins that are missing I shall wave, keep the healing potions." the elf explained.

As the white-haired drow entered Lilianne's face soured, her past tainted by bad encounters with the subterrain dwellers. "I will be with you in a moment. Have a look around." she said, inviting the man to browse - her eyes never leaving him.

Soon a young tiefling entered from the door behind the counter. "Well met." she greeted those present and took the jewel, proffered by her employer, putting a monocle in her eye to examine the jewel. "Five thousand he said?" she repeated the stated value. "Yeah, I'd say it's good enough for that amount." Jackie confirmed with a nod, rolling the diamond between her fingers while enjoying the reflections.

"Excellent!" the mage commented, giving the gnome a beaming smile. "I shall await your presence tomorrow, 8 am - sharp. We shall start working on your item early, I will obtain the necessary ingredients until then." the elf concluded the interaction, "Have a good day."

"Now then. You are looking to rent my laboratoire? I see. That can be arranged. Will you need assistance crafting your items?" she asked, trying to assess whether her staff would be hired, too.

"Fear not dear lady I am not an evil person, just a humble factotum and trapsmith....Perhaps I am jumping to conclusions, as the things I intend to create may already be here for simple purchase.....I am in need of the following items if you have them..an auran mask, bitterleaf oil, eggshell grenades, Ipecac, a few insectbane candles, torchbug paste.....Quality trapsmith tools, and some minor scrolls."

"Auran mask is a very useful thing it was part of how I escaped from the evil people who dwell below...."

Garret gives his treasure to the lady. When he leaves he will carefully assess what he has left and make plans to trade away the things he doesn’t truly need.

"Faktotum?" the elf repeated, casting a glance with a raised eyebrow at her tiefling employee. "Well, we do have the materials you need in stock. However, we do not have the finished products you seek. I can offer you assistance to ensure a successful outcome of your work, maybe even quicker." she suggested without change of her tone.

ooc: Lilianne's employees can grant the usual +2 to skill checks for aid another. Also, it might make crafting items with a high DC safe(r). Her skill mod is +20, production could be a bit faster, too (see craft skill).

"Yes a factotum a person interested in the pursuit of knowledge of all sorts, a dabbler in many things, a jack of all trades if you will, even in my own innate magics...some societies require single minded focus, so dabbling is deadly.."

"I see." the shop owner replies. "For how long do you wish to rent my lab?" the mage gently inquires.

"Just for the time it takes, me and your most capibile assistant to finish crafting the items I had mentioned, some of which are singular items, and others I intend to have multiples of....what is your rate, I do not wish to run out of funds."

The elf mage fell silent for a moment before answering "Darren is a capable aid, he'll get paid 3 silver per day. Rent for my lab will be 5 silver per day." she stated. "And I have your promise it will not be utilized for poison or other evil shenanigans!" Lilianne insisted strongly.

"I will not lie to you lady fair, though I be a drow master of poisons, I deal only in things that stun or cause sleep and traffic not in the most evil of poisons, though I have full knowledge of it.  I shall start first thing tomorrow, and look forward to working with your assistant. "

"Very well. - Tell me when you wish to start your work and I will make sure the lab is not occupied and Darren is there to assist you." she told him gently.

"Good morning.  I am here for the  lab, materials and assistance."

ooc: Sorry, I completely lost track of this. My sincere apologies.

The woman looked up from the ledger she was writing in as the drow entered, for an instant it looked like she was ready to fling a spell at him but it seemed she realized he had been a customer before and thus was not a demon. "Ah yes of course." she replied, giving an affirmative nod. "Follow me then." the mage said, gesturing to follow her. The elf moved effortlessly through the door and down a narrow set of stairs, it seemed logical to keep things that might go 'boom' in a place where damage or injury could be contained. A man, dressed in commoners clothes and a leather apron, stood at the opposite side of a comparatively large room, restocking supplies as it seemed. When the brown-haired assistant heard the door open, he turned around and inclined his head respectfully toward his employer. "Ma'am, how can I be of assistance?" he said with a surprisingly rich voice, which did sound like it came from a much larger man.

"I bring you a customer who would like to use our equipment for his own purposes, he also requested help crafting his alchemical substances. Please assist him like you would assist me." the owner said and turned towards the drow "I leave you to it then." she told the two men and left them in the candle-lit basement.

"Good day, sir. My name is Darren, how would you like to start..?"

"Darren, yes of course I have some formula, the first one is an auran mask, nothing insideous or dangerous of course, fairly tame  actually."

Alton starts to familiarize himself with the lab and where everything is...


"In addition to the auran mask, I intend to craft these items..a bottle of bitterleaf oil, a couple of insectbane candles, torchbug paste,a bottle of Ipecac, and a few eggshell grenades."

Alton gets in the lab for his first days work, setting to getting everything in the best possible way....The length of time it has been since he has been in the lab shows in his first day....
