Netherworld:  Public Workshop.

A large building, dedicated to the common crafts.  There are a number of specialists who can make all sorts of mundane and masterwork items, or who can give assistance while you craft your own items.

Among them, you will find ...

  • Tremaine Allard - who is particularly skilled in working with leather, wood and metals - with a particular interest in weapons of all types.  He has secondary interests in shoes, bookbinding and alchemy.
  • Camber of Culdi - an expert leather and woodworker, with a specific interest in making barded armour for animals.
  • Jab Halle - a gnome who a locksmith who likes to work with precious and fine metals and gems.  He also has an interest in clockwork.

You can find details of the workshop on this wiki page.  http://wiki.rpol.net/?id=59301/Public%20Workshop

However, there isn't much there yet.  The workshop is open to all crafters to use -  so if you want to use the facilities to craft your own equipment -  you can.  All workshop craft stations contain Masterwork tools, and the named crafters are available to assist you.  (which works out to quite a nice bonus on your craft rolls)

"Greetings, I am seeking the craftsman Camber, I have a project I am in need of assistance in completing."

After introductions.....

"As you may know drow and deep gnomes, as well as some kobold have a bit of trouble in bright light, especially direct sunlight, or the over zealous spells of our celestial cleric...I have made due for a while, but I believe I need to fabricate at least a couple of pair of what we call sundark goggles..."

Alton draws a sketch of the goggles,... I am thinking one pair literally goggles (like Riddick) and one pair more like a set of steam punk glasses......

"the real secret is in getting the lenses just right, just enough to block the brightness, but nothing to interfere with vision in any way...."

Garret nods to Alton as he passes by.
Had your chance to dump us with the spider Queen, but I think you’re playing a long game.
He says but it seems more like banter now than before the adventure.

He continues on to visit Tremaine Allard.

Hello, I wonder if you can help me with something?

"A long game indeed, I am on a journey of bettering myself, and hold no allegance to the demands placed upon me by myself, others or the world....I faced similar danger to escape the drow the first time around, that is a private story I would rather only share with friends."

Alton shrugs, but when the other man arrives.....
"I am in need of a serviceable guisairme, I want to try my hand tripping enemies."

John passed both allies with a wave, "Hey, guys" as he walks into a back room, forging leathers on and a couple of sacks of raw mithral peeking out of his pack. You can hear him say "forge heated up? Assistants ready? All right, let's get back to this." Soon the faint ringing of a master armorsmith hard at work can be heard.

Camber listens to the description of what's needed to make the sundark goggles and studies the drawing. The smoked lenses of these goggles to block the light would be easy to do. He calculates that a band of canvas that clasps together at the back to keep the goggles from falling off would suffice."I can make them," he allows.

He takes a few more moments to think, and says, "You can pick them up on the morrow. The cost will be 10 gold."

Notes:

Sundark Goggles: The smoked lenses of these goggles block light. They are typically fixed into a band of canvas that clasps together at the back to keep the goggles from falling off. Sundark goggles negate the dazzled condition experienced by a creature with light sensitivity while in bright illumination. As a side effect, they grant the wearer a +2 circumstance bonus on saving throws against gaze attacks. A creature wearing sundark goggles can't use a gaze attack since other creatures can't see its eyes. Creatures without low-light vision or darkvision that wear sundark goggles take a -2 penalty on Search and Spot checks.

@ Camber
Excellent.  Would two pair be more difficult for you to manage?"

@John
"I wish I had time for crafting, perhaps I will find some time before the next adventure begins....again."

Alton has several things in mind that would need to happen....the boyancy to his buckler, though mitheral would make it easier to do, MW tools (so many to consider)...scrolls for the ring....if he were to set traps he would need materials.....

@Alton. As the Drow begins talking Garret’s grin fades a little and his face slackens. He nods at the seriousness,
Well, better I’m sure you’ll be and a better fellow than me for simply seeking it. Story or not I’m glad we got the job done, I’ve never had so much to live on before!

@John
Hey are you working here? I’m coming to get some armor enchanted or perhaps upgraded. And of course to enchant a dagger too. Is Tremain the right fellow to see?

In reply to Alton Chasmyr (msg # 7):

Yes, absolutely. It takes a day to make each one, so come back in 3 days. I'll even discount the order to a cost of 29 gold.

John replies "Id see Tremain about that. I can fashion armor, shields, and bows. I have no magic for enchantment, but I can make a base item either of masterwork quality or from an unusual material. For a friend I'm willing to do that at cost."
