Re: OOC Thread for General Use

The Chronicler:
Unfortunately, I've had no response from Unicursal, so I will be removing him as a GM, and closing down his games. Those who are playing in his games will either be reverted back to Applicant status if the character is your main character, or if the character is a secondary character, it will be deleted. It is unfortunate that a game has to end this way, and it's with my sincere apologies that it did. I hope everyone is able to find another game. Thank you for playing in A Dungeons & Dragons Gaming Community.

This happens. No worries Chronicler. Yup will snoop around for another game.

Hope that Unicursal is fine...

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

As predicted, not only have we lost several GM's, but we now have 40 Applicants and a couple handfuls of players left.

I am about to remove these characters, which are secondary characters for some of the players here. Before I remove them, I'm wanting to make sure their owners have backed up a copy of them if they so desire. The characters are the following:

Chavus - Primary character is Trent Ashblood

Mathgen - Primary character is Flyd Boneshaker

Chris-Ta-Bell - Primary character is Thandir Oldorndir

I will give these players a chance to confirm they have backups before I delete them.

Thanks.

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

I do now.

I also have idea.  One which I been thinking about in another game like this with multiple GM and games.  One that help keep or save characters.  I know how bad it is to lose good character.

The idea based on Michael Moorcock Vanishing tower.

You have Gm that runs a simple thread.  It a tower that moves from realm to realm
World to world pick up travelers / adventures.

That tower has many rooms and they constantly changing.  The players can move from room to room.  They may find the next room empty, few low level monster, traps, puzzles, little treasure or equipment to craft few items.  Nothing really plot lead just dungeon character crawl.  The players can talk and interact.

So if group of player lose GM they can be move to tower thread (maybe limit one per player per game system).  The player keep the character.  If another GM starts a game up the GM can then look over character in tower and ask if they like join that GM game.
What then happens is player walk though next door only to find themselves dumped by the tower into new world and new game.  The character would keep mouth shut about where he/she came from and tower would give character basic understand of new world it in.

If you think about it -This is win win.
For player they can keep character they like and have level up.  If only slowly.
For GM you can have ready make character and month or so sorting out new player can be cut down a lot.  In some chase a GM may find they up and running in week instead of 2-3 months it can take get group of character together.

You need different tower for 3.5 and pathfinder characters.  You may need more than one tower.

That being said I willing stick my time where my mouth is.
If GM like idea I happy run one tower for Pathfinder with up to 6 characters.

It's an idea.
What your thoughts?

I just lost a game, so I would also be interested in a pathfinder setup using Moorcock's Vanishing Tower as a premise.

Great stuff!

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

Greb would you have been a goblin in group of halfings?

As for Tower, the idea was to save character that lost there game not really to make new ones however if player lost his only character I can see it would only be fair give person chance to at least have one character in this game.

Once up and running I could put my idea in thread so other could run parallel towers using my ideas.  As dungeon crawl type environment it be easy for other to run.

In reply to Thandir Oldorndir (msg # 564):

I had set the Netherworld Plane Campaign up to be pretty much just like what your suggesting. Once a player makes a favorite character or characters, the character(s) can return to the Wayfarers Inn and go solo or join other groups should an adventure collapse that they were playing in.

The more of these type games that preserve characters and players is most welcome. So, I'm all for it too. I'd even make a character to play.

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

GM Artifex is looking for a brand-new party of adventurers to play through Paizo Publishing's updated Rise of the Runelords adventure path.  We'll be playing under the Pathfinder rules, on a moderate schedule (posting at least once every three days for players), and starting at first level.  Core and APG content allowed (see http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ if you have questions and don't have the books), with other content by special request.  I'm also a fan of Dreamscarred Press' Ultimate Psionics, the rules for which can be found there as well, so if you want to play a psionic character, that's fine with me, but only the Psion, Wilder, Psychic Warrior, and Soulknife.

This adventure path will likely take several years to complete (it took my home group two years, playing once per month), so be ready to settle in for the long haul.  We'll be basing the characters on a 20 point buy for ability scores, and 150 GP starting money, with maximum HP at first level.

GM Artifex has been running and playing a variety of paper-and-dice RPGs since 1984, and on RPOL since 2014.
