Re: OOC Thread for General Use

Okay... so what about if I volunteer to Co-DM this?

Meaning, someone DM's me as a solo game, and I DM two PVP groups? Hmm? HMMMMM?

Victor:
So The Chronicler said I could shop this game to the group, and I'd REALLY be interested in playing it out.

So... here it is:

So, I've been a big Dr. Doom fan for a very long time (in case you didn't notice).

I decided to put him together as a character for 3.5, and I think he's pretty spot on... and now I'd like to play him. He is a level 20 character.

But, as I thought about it, I figured making it interesting would be awesome, so...

What I was thinking was not a solo-game, but rather a combination Solo game, where I get to play Doom, who was banished/trapped in some "Forgotten Realms". Of course he would attempt to get back to Latveria, but not before taking whatever power he deemed worth his interest, crushing any who were foolish enough to get in his way, and of course getting vengeance on whatever force that banished/trapped him.

Given that this could take place in Eberron or Faerun, Dragonlance, etc., it makes sense that there might be a team of adventurers that would encounter Doom, become enemies or pawns, etc. To that end, I think it would great to have both a heroic and evil group.

For those groups, I think it would be great to start them off as low-level. Doom isn't a murderer. He's a misunderstood hero, and he would have no direct knowledge of the player characters. In fact, he'd have no real knowledge of this world he was trapped in, so I think a clever DM could make this ships passing in the night, interesting encounters, etc.

So to summarize.

I'd like to play as Dr. Doom as a level 20 character (I've never actually played a level 20 character before, so this would really be the ultimate for me).

I'd like there to be a low-level evil group, and a low-level good group, so essentially 3 "factions" of players.

Yes, I think this would be great as PVP, and I imagine at some point there might very well be a Battle Royale. However, I also see the possibility for a BBEG that ALL factions have to band together and fight.

Of course, I can and will share the character sheet (but I'd rather only share it with the GM's because... yeah.).

Soooooo.... whatcha think?

Ok, in 4 hours (It's 8 AM - Feb 6, 2018) I will be starting my journey. I will be off the grid for about 3 days, and I will update again when I arrive in Singapore. I'm trying to update everyone before I leave, but if I don't get the chance, apologies. Thanks for your patience!

Do we want to move the drow sign language discussion over here?

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

Actually that sounds like a good idea, at least for out of character or admin stuff.
This is how I see Min'OrImKakee using drow sign.. actually all languages but underneath the physical makeup of delivery of  sign language.

"BATTLEFIELD SHOUTING COMMAND VOICE"
In sign language; over head height, exaggerated movements

"SHOUTING"  ? do wonder if should bold this too?
In sign language; at head height

"Command or Projection Speaking Voice"
In sign language; chest height, exaggerated movements

"Regular Speaking Voice"
In sign language; solar plexus height

"Whisper Voice"
In sign language; upper hip height

"Concealed Whisper Voice"
In sign language; Waist height, suppressed movement, often one hand if not both concealed by body.

When used against other races is usually used in the dark.. attempting to place the Drow Troops out side vision of opposition. so then ALL of the above can be used concealed.

When used in Drow Courts by Drow Huscarl; if it is not whisper or concealed whisper, command officer or hand [team] team leader is placed as much as possible out of line of sight to the "throng" but in sight of all "fingers"

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

I always thought the Drow Sign Language would be more nuanced that real world ASL for example.
Take the word “or” for example in ASL is a simple shift to the side with the torso.

Although we are listing it separately in posts it is also fairly easy to be saying one thing verbally and signing the opposite to your cohorts, all the while appearing as simply a person who gestures when they talk....

Of course this will take some serious insight from our DM....

Example:
Common: “I trust your sign of truce and parley.”
Private to group drow sign. “Lies! Expect an attack”

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

Like most Drow things, in signing there seems a duality; One use, is on slave raids to coordinate the drow attackers in the dark since they have no trouble seeing each other, but a Second use, also Is political and social dark ops as you suggest.

Part of the issue that hiding such in the open as gesture would seem to be speed the more you cram into the 'sentence' the more "frantic" the speed.

Which is why as you notice your sign example was Short.. Which fits with the covert uses.
. . Slower gestures to fit into the rhythm of the verbal message.  Or if quiet, a slow delivery of the message while “stretching” fingers.

Or at least that is my take on it.

And that particular stylistic usage is also how I would. Work verbal languages.

Re: OOC Thread for General Use

Seriously now, folks....

Positive Characteristics: The 22 is the most powerful of all numbers, able to turn lofty dreams into realities. It is confident, pragmatic, ambitious and disciplined.

Negative Characteristics: Impracticality and self-imposed pressure can get the better of the 22. When unaware of its own potential, the 22 will miss out on or shy away from necessary opportunities.
