Together they manage to move the heavy ice structure, which is difficult to much despite it starting to melt. Below it, a 8ft chute is revealed.
"This leads to a secret exit to the east of the palace. Quick, before it comes all crashing down on us. There is no time searching this place, look!". The droplets have become a constant icy rain with the occiasional chunk of ice, big enough to cause serious damage when being hit by it.
"I will recompensate you, Tarth, believe me, when this is over. As for now I have these things. They are yours if you want to.". She shows you the items she has fetched from her wardrobe: a glass vial, some kind of belt, a rope, a cloak and a small flute.
She offers them to anyone to take or store them away. Then she walks over to the hole in the floor and looks down, thinking how to climb down best.

GM, 423 posts Wed 22 Apr 2015 at 07:17 | Re: Chapter 3 - FrigornLysira slowly advances to the hole, while Tarth is lowering the rope down it. She gently reaches out for his hand which is holding the rope. "We can use it like this", she says. Taking the rope and holding it loosely in her hand she throws one end of it in the general direction of the divan. The rope darts towards the piece of furniture like a snake, fastening it securely around it on its own accord.
"It will release itself, after we have climbed down," she says with a smile on her face, apparently glad that she can be of some assistance.
Turning to Tarth she adds: "You could also use that cloak for a similar effect but would need to remove your gloves and boots first. Which might be a bit uncomfortable at the least in these surroundings. It is the Cloak of Arachnida which makes you climb like spider."
This said, she lets Dalmar climb down to check for any danger below and would follow if nobody else follows the gladiator. She still seems to be a bit shaken, but her strength seems to be coming back quickly.

"What kind of trickery is this?" he said watching it snake over to the furniture before making sure that the rope was secure. Watching Dalmar head down, he made a slight bow indicating for Lysira to head down the rope before following her.
Hearing her talk about the cloak, he shrugs his shoulders. "I will take your word for it but I am not about to freeze my hands and feet on the ice walls. I will test it out later in a warmer place." he said, thinking over the possibilities of what the cloak offered to someone of his profession.

GM, 424 posts Thu 23 Apr 2015 at 19:23 | Re: Chapter 3 - FrigornOne by one you scramble down the narrow chute. When Raissa, who was last, reaches the floor, Lysira touches the magic rope. A second later it comes zooming back to her. After it has rolled up on its own, she hands it back to the group.
You carefully proceed down the corridor. The melting effect that has been taking place in the palace seems to be much slower here. After some 200m it is going slightly upwards and soon you reach a small ice cave that opens up into the white wastes northeast of the village of Frigorn.
Lysira looks at you and says, "If you want to confront Zurbaran, please allow me to come with you. I cannot accept his repeated attempts of getting hold my idol, well, or the water now."
Accompanied by a fluid motion of her hands she utters some arcane words and scrutinizes each one of you, raising her eyebrows.
"Apart from In'chath and Violus, you all seem to be under some kind of spell. the one that affects Tarth and him", she nods at Dalmar, "looks different than the one that must have cast upon you two", she points at Raissa and Tarl.
She then looks in the direction of Zurbaran's cabin and her face takes on a determined expression.

"The spell that affects both Tarth and him is certainly some charm-like enchantment. As for you and him [she points at Tarl], I am not quite sure. It is some charm as well but seems to be too powerful for something that I would expect from Zurbaran. If it is really some spell he has ensorcelled you with, he sure must have had some help. I can try to dispel the one Tarth or your other friend suffer from. Or maybe you or your elven friends [she looks at In'chath and Violus] have the same power available? But the spell on you will exceed my powers."
She looks at you all and somewhat apologetically at Raissa and Tarl.

"I have not the power to get rid of magics; and until Selune next rises; I cannot see the magics for myself; but based on behaviours, the spell on Dalmar, at least, is some kind of domination effect. We don't appear compelled, so it is either some.. subtler, possibly more dangerous effect, or cast by someone else. For now, try to dispel the magic on Dalmar."

They would be best safe with you. If you wish to gift them to Tarth later as a reward I'm sure we would gratefully accept them." He followed the others out, not stopping but helping any who lagged until they were back safe.
When the discussion of charms came about he frowned. "It is possible that those of elven blood may have resisted any charm if they were exposed to it. As for the rest of us," he glanced at Dalmar. "If our minds have been affected it would be best to dispel the charm on Dalmar first as it seems the strongest. As for the more powerful magic, perhaps it was placed on us before we came here, in the initial visit to the town."

GM, 429 posts Sat 25 Apr 2015 at 13:19 | Re: Chapter 3 - FrigornLysira starts chanting and moving her hand in a gesture that seems like pulling something out of the earth. After a few seconds she sighs, looking disappointedly to the ground.
"The magic cast upon Dalmar is too strong for me to dispel it. I am sorry!"
As Tarl suggests keeping the items, she adds: "You might want to use them against Zurbaran. Apart from the cloas and the rope, the belt gives you the strength of a hill giant and the potion will heal your wounds.".
Then she looks back to her former seat of power. The huge pinnacles keep melting. And now that you think of it, the general temperature also feels a little bit warmer than hours ago. Not that the snow on the ground is melting but it feels more natural now.
After Tarth suggested to find some place warm, she says: "You won't find any inn or tavern in the village. This is a fisher's village with almost no contact to the rest of Icewind Dale. Besides, if you want to confront Zurbaran, this could be the best time. Before he finds out about what is happening to me and the palace..."
Violus turns to In'chath. "Yes, malla Qu'el'faeruk In'chath, this Zurbaran seems to be a menace to take care of. But first many thanks for your rescueing me. Now that things have turned out to some favourable ends to us, what are your plans. Will you accompany these good folks or will we head back to the Promenade?"
