Re: The Glowing Plaza
“I don’t think you can be from everywhere, you can have visited or lived everywhere but you couldn’t have been born and raised everywhere. Were the words she returned to the Goblin’s own baffling saying.

“My superiors like to keep me close, so moving on without their leave or say so-.. It would lose me my place.”
She stated matter-of-factly explaining her position on becoming a travel companion. It wasn’t as if leaving would be hindrance in itself but her current position kept her on a tight leash. It was understandable; she had to be ready to move about as soon as information was received. It lead to her work being incredibly spontaneous, months of solid worked compared to weeks without. “But why would you want to go with bigums, I thought you detested them?”

"Oh I must have been born somewhere," Manny agreed. "Only I doesn't remember it too well, Miss, on account of bein' a wee babe and all you see. Must have been right tiring, I reckon, bein' born."

"I suppose you'd have to ask me dear Ol' mum, bless her nasty little 'eart. Only you'd need awful strong magic if you was hopin' for an answer. Can't imagine she's still alive after all this time. And even then you'd probably get somefin' like:

Little cave on the side of the mountain,
Corner of the dry brook and copse of birch trees,
The Forest

"Try sending the postman 'round there, Miss, and I reckon he'd just have a laugh at you."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Liandra just shrugged in response to both questions. "I live here yeah, but I need to travel still. And traveling alone is really really boring. So even if you two are bigums and would just slow me down, I could use the company." The pixie stated little cut and dry.

"I'll come with you till you reach your stupid army boss then I'll be on my way." Liabdra stuck two fingers in her mouth and blew a loud ear piercing whistle. She waited for a brief moment, eyes tracing the sky. Further up a bird appeared, circling the trio. The red-bellied woodpecker landed on a nearby crate, it look like it had a small saddle and a pack on it. Most importantly it had a crossbow, the size of Liandra attached to its side. Liandra jumped off her perch and over to the woodpecker.

It chipped when it saw its master and Liandra rubbed its head affectionately. "Manny you should remember where you lived when you we're younger. It's important to know where you come from."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
"Well." Evarri answered, voice slowed as if a new question had arisen to cause her pause. “I guess that would have to do for an answer. For I can’t see that far back either.”

The sudden high pitched squeal which whipped between the sides of the Pixie’s mouth was incredible if ear-bleeding. How could such a small creatures make such a loud noise? Noting how Liandra’s head reared upward to look toward the sky Evarri did the same curious as to what the Pixie was searching for. The answer was a winged fiend in an alluring rich red swooping down to greet them.

Evarri’s eyes remained wide constantly focusing upon the flight to the floor, even gawking when Liandra patted it’s neck completely mystified by the situation.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Manny directed an inquisitve glance at Liandra, whom by his own estimation had just informed him that she needed to travel - and this was the tricky part - because she needed to travel.

"Is you pixies like sharks or somefin' wot dies when they stop movin' about, Mousey?" he asked incredulously. "Anyways I can't unforget what I doesn't already know, can I? It'd be like one of 'em woss'names - a pair-of-doxies sort of 'fing."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Liandra swung her leg over the bird and sat in the saddle. She made sure the straps were nice and snug, and that her pack had everything she needed inside of it, taking the crossbow from the bird's side and slinging onto her back. Liandra looked at the goblin a little confused, the comparison between a shark and a root pixie making no sense to the pixie. She shook her head, "No, I just like to travel. The cities the bigums make are too grimy and disgusting."

Liandra snapped at the reins and the bird flew the small gap between the crate and Evarri's shoulder. The wooderpecker wasn't a humming bird, which were uncomfortable to ride, and couldn't hover like them. "Well I think it is a little sad if someone couldn't remember their home."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
That was a point, the pixie had said she needed to travel not just that she had enjoyed such a venture. “You didn’t say you just like to, you said you needed to travel. Makes all the diff-…” Then the crack of reins came crashing down on her voice, as well as an approaching woodpecker beak first. Immediately Evarri took an alarmed step to the right, eyes wide in a perplexed state to the Pixie's actions. That thing had been heading right at her!

“Hey-.. what do you think you’re trying to do?” She blurted out, confused as to why the woodpecker had suddenly took on an attack stance toward her.

"Oy, Mousey!" Manny exclaimed, brandishing an admonishing finger in front of his face and giving it a vehement waggle. "You shouldn't be carrying on like that, startling poor Miss Evarri! Bad toof' Pixie! Bad!"

"Anyway, that's where you're wrong luv,"
he said, dropping his arm back to the side. "Home is wherever I chose to 'ang my boots and call kip. Leastwise it would be if'n I wore proper boots..." he admitted reluctantly after a moment.

"Who's makin' you live 'ere anyway if you hates it so much?"

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Liandra pulled hard on the reins, sending the woodpecker upward to avoid hitting Evarri. "Calm down, I was just trying to get Peaches to land on you." The bird, named Peaches flew to a nearby wall and perched itself on the wood, making Liandra have to sit awkwardly in the saddle. She pet the birds head, smoothing some of it's ruffled feathers. "Home isn't just where you sleep and eat. It's where family is, and where that warm feeling in your gut when you're happy comes from."

"I live here cause the forests around here are sick, no better than the grime here. Can't live in either of them, but I have to." Liandra shifted her weight in her seat, so that she can turn and face the two. "And even if they are bigums, they know how to make some good food."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Cautiously Evarri kept both pools of liquid steel centred upon the winged fiend, hesitant to believe it as docile to humans as it is to Pixies. “Home isn’t always where your family is. It is where you feel safe though, or as close as you can come.” She corrected, her voice slowly levelling out from the previous sudden shock of feather and claw.

“The only reason you stay here is because of, quality food?” The very idea was not one Evarri could come to terms with. Food had never been something which would attract her to a location, though it would be a concerning factor for her survival… but that wasn’t the necessarily the same.

Shaking the thought the auburn haired girl turned her attention to Manny. “I can take you to the officers now then, since Liandra has sorted out her-… travel.” Again she offered a stray look to the bird, focusing on the points of its claws and the tip of its beak.

"Comin', Miss!" Manny exclaimed as he diligently hopped to attention. For his own part he'd had about enough of the current conversation which seemed to have got lost on its own circular logic.

Guarding his mouth with the back of his hand conspiratorially he addressed Evarri in sotto voce that carried more like a stage whisper.

"I don't 'fink she knows why she lives 'ere or why she's got to go, Miss. Fairy folk is a strange sort between you n' me."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Liandra pouted, "I know why I live here." she wanted to say it was because her forest was destroyed long ago by the armies of both nations, but she bit it back. While she liked the two, she wasn't trusting them with her personal stories. They are bigums after all. "Cause it's the least terrible place in this whole terrible kingdom. Nothing like Grandidier's Baobab. But I'm... stuck here." She shrugged, even she wasn't too convinced by her answer. "And I'm not a pompous fairy. I'm a ROOT PIXIE. You're the weird one. Talking with a stupid accent, don't know what you mean half the time."

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Allowing the conversation to drift by and replying with a vague nod of her head toward the Goblin’s own opinion. It didn’t appear to change Evarri’s expression perhaps to the point where she simply complied with Manny’s thoughts to avoid the topic altogether.

Turning her back on the pair she began her journey to exit the alley, the air had become increasingly thick. “I don’t think we need to start pointing out faults of each other, nothing decent comes of it.” She added her words not stern instead apathetic. “Manny, I’ll take you to the camp now, if you’re coming still.” A consistent walking pace led the auburn haired girl into the crisp air of an afternoon which was nearing dusk.

At the last moment of the alley she took a single glance behind, noting whether they were following or not before heading out toward the encampment. If they were lucky her commander may still be in a decent state to have a conversation with.

From: Dead Mountains

Gorim did his best to avoid most of the people of the city on his way to Bishop's shop, making sure his pouch of gems was safe and unassuming. He luckily looked menacing enough that most citizens moved out of his way anyway, and he made quick strides and took side routes to get there as fast as possible. When he arrived at the shop he noticed it was closed and there hadn't been anyone here for a good while. He cursed silently as he looked around, but saw no sign of Bishop.

Gorim sighed before sitting down on a nearby bench. "I suppose I should find a mild distraction till he returns." He decided to stay seated for a while, just enough to get more rest from the mountain trip, but he still needed to get to a potion mixer so he could avoid any possible disease he got from the Blood Beaks.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
"Right behind you, Miss," the little goblin replied cheerfully. If he'd taken any offense to the root pixie's comments it certainly didn't show.

Bounding along behind the much taller woman he rounded the corner and suddenly drew up short with a look of nervous indecision. Seated there before them on a park bench was an armored behemoth who wore the markings of have having recently seen battle, and the warrior's horned helm looked decidedly too real for Manny's comfort. Though the sounds of revelry drifted down the myriad byways radiating off of the Glowing Plaza and the carnival therein, the three of them (or the four of them as the case may be) were otherwise momentarily alone.

"I'm afraid to ask if that's 'is blood 'es wearing, or someone else's..." he said quietly.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
The first corner toward their destination had brought up another oddity, a brutish looking furred giant. It was the look akin to that of when she first spotted the goblin and pixie, her pace faltering but she sort no equivocation of the situation.

Manny’s hushed tone was meagrely taken into the air, reaching Evarri who failing of something decently friendly to say decided to grasp at straws. Not asking any permission she stepped forth, pretty much being level with the fighter when he was sitting down, he was tall, definitely. “Sir.” She piped up, voice level in the face of an intimidating aura as she attempted a friendly smile. Admittedly, her smile wasn’t the most convincing but it was the thought behind which count, was it not? “I’m positive I don’t need to tell you this, but you are drenched in blood.” The auburn haired girl paused searching for some sort of reception. “Are you wounded?” She continued, direct in her questioning.

The auburn haired girl reminisced over the moments as a child, you were but a mere lamb in a flock and others would come to help lick your wounds. In adulthood it was hardly ever the case, pride overwhelming most as they deny the offer for help claiming it to be charity. It was an odd concept, to reject something beneficial for something like pride. Evarri could only observe it in a few lights, one being that you wished to be able to prove your independence.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Gorim flinched at the sudden disturbance to his peace and grunted loudly, not really as a means of insult, just how he breathed some times, but he wasn't about to explain that. He initially ignored the question, observing the woman and her companions, an odd bunch to be sure. He then turned his attention to her comment about him covered in blood. He hadn't really thought about it or it's effect on peoples opinion of him, but he was indeed covered a good portion, and it was only then that he remembered his own injury. "....No." The hesitation just enough for someone to notice, and he felt that his arm was ever so slightly shaking.

Loss of enough blood, infection, or cut tendons, any one of those could have been the reason. He also noticed he was breathing a little heavier than usual, though he doubted this group would realize. "Excuse me, I need to see a friend." He rose to his feet, hoping to simply get away and maybe find a place to clean up and then find a healer when he suddenly dropped to left knee, roaring a bit in shock as well as anger, showing such a weakness to others. It was then that he felt the sting of a decent sized gash on the back of his left leg, wondering if the adrenaline was still allowing him to move before.

Shit. He thought to himself as kept his face down, doing his best not to make eye contact with the woman. He sighed as he realized how pathetic he looked, so he decided to attempt to rise to his feet again, his leg buckling slightly. He looked at the woman, but still avoided eye contact. "....I'm fine." Lying was clearly not his best skill.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
The bestial grunt made her dubious as to how her intentions were received, unsure if it was merely a method of trying to rid her without sentence. Evarri awaited the beings reply, only receiving a rudimentary no which made her doubt the underlying truth behind it. Her head gingerly tilted right, as if unintentionally asking a silent question for conformation.

Instead though the Minotaur saw it fit to try and leave their presence with a justified excuse, Evarri seeing no qualms until the towering figure dropped to one knee with sizably terrifying roar. Flinching at the sudden ring in her ears and by instinct slid her right foot back, retreating from its epitome eyes wide. However as soon as she moved back she moved back forward, an odd blanched concern etched into her face. “Where we’re going has healers, up at the army courtyard. It's not so far.” Her voice was hasty, urgently trying to pass on the information. Her offer needn’t be confirmed it was clear what she had intended.

The reluctance of admitting to the wound was however a problem which Evarri knew would arise. “Before you reject, I'll say this; pride is concerned with who is right. Humility is concerned with what is right.” The girl’s voice remained level throughout, her eyes looking to the leg which had buckled before the Minotaur’s face again. The quote she had repeated had helped her through many decisions, hopefully it would too stamp out the sprouting indecision before it came to fruition.

Manny cocked his head to the side in dubious response to the minotaur's halfhearted protestations.

"I was just 'finking that, guv. Here I was just sayin' to myself, 'Oi, Manny - there's a bloke who looks right as rain if ever you did see one'. Its as plain as the nose on your face really. Snout sort of. Er, muzzle possibly?"

Pushing ahead rather than dwell on the warrior's anatomical peculiarities, he continued:

"Only, and I know this will sound right daft, guv, but supposin' you was hurt - hypothetically speakin' of course. And it just sort of hadn't hit you yet. Well might be that a trip to the old chirurgeon for a look-see could do you some good, am I right?"

Squish the sarcastic one later He thought as he glared at Manny for a moment before pndering for a minute about his situation. He wasn't in the best of shape right now, and if he rather not get robbed or possibly killed for his equipment. He muttered something before sighing and looking at the woman. "Very well. I will accompany you to your destination, at least to seek aid." He reached for his shield and sword that had been leaning against the wall, the pain in his leg was intnse, but he still would prefer to carry his gear, whether the others could help or not. He grunted again before speaking again. "I admit....I don't know the city well." He rather didn't relish the thought of wandering the city in search of a healer, and what luck he'd have in the middle of a carnival.

Re: The Glowing Plaza
Manny’s sarcasm and words had Evarri briefly taken aback, it was definitely a method of finding where he could tread or not. It had furthered her own point though, perhaps not in the best light..  Nodding to the Minotaurs reply she turned her head to Manny, then once more to the warrior. “I suppose we don’t need to get along.” The matter was brutally honest, before she placed her attention on the shield-wielding giant. “And don’t worry. I’ve got a decent memory we won’t get lost.” She added turning to begin in the direction of the courtyard though she pre-emptively halted looking over her shoulder. “You can walk, right? You can use me as a crutch if you need to.” Manny was out of the question due to his height and well-.. it wasn’t even worth considering how Liandra would fair in that scenario.

If the offer was accepted, Evarri uncomplaining would offer herself as a support to the Minotaur as to not put as much pressure on his wounded leg. Otherwise she would keep at a slow pace, checking behind her every so often to check she hadn't lost anyone in the process.

He looked at the woman and then down at his leg, lifting it up and flexing. "No, I will be fine." He walked with a bit of a limp, but he was mostly able to maintain a decent speed. On top of it all, he didn't want to be seen being supported by another, but did wonder if she would even be able to support his weight with all his armor on.

Gorim made his way back to the Glowing Plaza, attempting to avoid the bigger crowds. He wasn't very sure what to do at the moment, not exactly familiar with the city enough to know where a good place to relax would be. He watched as the children urged their parents to the carnival still, and pondered going to the collection of entertainment, though doubted he would find anything of interest.

Gorim wandered the Plaza for a while, watching as people went about there business, noticing that most tried not to look in his direction. He sighed loudly as he realized he had nothing to do, but he still needed to sell his findings to Bishop. "I suppose I have no choice but to find a better distraction. Maybe i'll go check see the carnival, as much as it pains me." He hefted his gear as he made way for the carnival.
