Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
"Ah, but see then it don't really matter if you speaks the language so long as you can bring someone into the dream wot does," Manny quipped sagaciously. "And it wouldn't take no lessons, neither Miss."

"Could make for a pretty clever cipher that," he continued to muse. "A messenger wot doesn't understand their own message, cor what a lark that would be! Can't be stolen. Can't be lost. You just needs someone at either end wot knows what to do wif' it."

"But sure enough I can teach you, Miss, if'n you likes,"
he finished helpfully.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
“That’s what has been done so far, it would still be more convenient for me to understand it.” Evarri pointed out, though with this matter it was she who would benefit most from knowing what each message did contain. “Plus you forget, the message can still be destroyed.” It didn’t matter if it couldn’t be lost nor seen it could be broken. In the exact not-so-comely situation Evarri could be prodded and jostled until she would pass on the message willingly.

“It’s accurate, is the most beneficial use.” She finally stated, but the Goblin’s words would clearly note that he knew of Evarri’s ability. Neither was she certain on how the commander would take this information.

After letting the two talk for a moment, the commander finally spoke up.

"Enough. I have decided."

He turned around and pulled some sort of forms out of his desk and began to fill in some of the blanks on the paper.

"You will be put on a trial period and given various tasks. If you are found to be as useful as you seem, you will be allowed to join the ranks of the Nydelisien army officially. If not, then I suppose you'll return to whatever it is you were doing before."

He turned the paper around and held the quill out for Manny.

"Sign here, here, and here."

"Can't argue wif' an offer like that now can I?" Manny exclaimed as he snatched up the quill and enthusiastically signed his name on the bottom line. The goblin's penmanship left a great deal to be desired but the letters were all there, and they were even in the right order.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
Silence ensued from Evarri as the Goblin scribbled among the parchment. A smile pinched at each corner of her lips tugging them gingerly upward as she turned her full attention to the commander. “Is there anything else you wish of me?” She inquired matter-of-factly. “Or Manny.” Evarri added, they were practically in the same situation after all.

If there wasn’t, it would do Manny well to show him around allowing him to gather his bearing of the courtyard. Then check on the minotaur, his wounds didn’t appear fatal but all the same.

Commander Te'ect shook his head.

"You may leave me. Expect orders from me sometime soon, I will contact you."

He took the paperwork and filed it away in a nearby drawer.

"Welcome to the Nydelisien forces, I trust you wont disappoint."

(Gorim)

The healer began to clean and bandage the open wounds since they were the main problem, there wasn't much he could do for bruises besides recommend rest.

"You know..."

The healer put his instruments back on the shelf, depositing the used syringe into a metal pan nearby.

"If you're ever looking for a more....stable, lifestyle. The forces here could always use strong warriors like yourself."

Gorim's ears perked at the healers words. "It's not a matter of stability. Most of society in these kinds of cities are cruel and selfish." Gorim shifted a bit, feeling the medicine kick in, stinging a little. "I'd rahter take my chances with the Bloodbeaks, at least they're honest about their intent to kill you." He grunted in reassurance of his words. Still, He was not an imbecile, he knew not everyone was that way, but he wasn't about to sit here and try to find the ones he'd care to associate with.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
A parting courtesy nod was the only assurance she gave to the commander before she turned, again parting the veil to the courtyard. Once past the threshold she kept a normal pace forward, retracing their steps beforehand to the medical area. “I’ll be checking up on Gorim, you can explore the grounds if you would like or I’ll show you where everything is afterwards.” Evarri voiced, assuming the small pint-sized goblin had followed and not just wandered off. Otherwise she would have been talking to thin air, which probably wouldn’t do well for her reputation not that it mattered.

Approaching the medical tent she eyed the rots of cots to find both the medical officer and the Minotaur, eyes settling upon them immediately. “Nothing too serious then?” She asked, but since the Minotaur hadn’t been in the middle of having knives carve up his body it was the best assumption she could make.

The little goblin trotted along behind, seemingly elated at his change in fortunes. "Right enough, Miss," he replied. "I should probably have a word wiff' the quartermaster to see about getting kitted up when we're done."

Gorim looked up at Evarri then back down to his arm and leg. He tensed them up, checking if there was any pain involved with the muscles, but only felt some slight soreness. "No, the healer was precise." He rose to his feet, and did a quick stretch, before looking to the healer. "I thank you for the aid." Now that he was better, he turned back to Evarri. "I suppose I owe you a favor. I doubt many would have asked the health of a Minotaur, or convinced their fellows. Even if they themselves were also wary." Making note of her previous hesitation towards him.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
Evarri dipped her head toward the healer in thanks for a job-well-done. “Thank-you, again.” She Drew her attention back to the towering Minotaur, her head gradually lolling to the right as she caught the brunt of the formal courtesy. “I’m wary of everyone when I don’t know their intention – though naturally more so when someone looks-..” Evarri’s brow narrowed whilst she searched for the right word. “Intimidating.”

“It’s fine though.” She continued seamlessly. “I’m still wary of you; just less so neither will I bother you with asking for a favour. I was not the one who bound your wound only sent you in the right direction. I do hope we meet again, however – probably not in these circumstances nor if you don't want too.” A soft smile graced her lips, pools of molten steel still hovering over the Minotaur.

The healer shook his head towards Evarri.

"It was no problem really, it's not like I had much else to do."

He smiled and looked over to Gorim once more.

"And remember friend, if you ever change your mind about joining, come give me a visit, I can put a good word in for you."

With that the healer returned to his spot deeper in the tent re-organizing medical supplies while he had the chance since mostly everyone was at the carnival today.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
Gorim nodded to Evarri. "You are most intriguing I must say. Most would jump at the chance to hold something over another head." He scratched his chin for a bit, before hefting his heavy weaponry onto his shoulders. "However, I must insist upon my honor, so if it is not done as a favor, at the least, allow me to accompany you on any assignment you may have. It will be a way to pay you back for helping me, as well as paying back the healer in seeing if this life might be more suitable, and at the least, keep you and any other companions alive." He looked at Evarri with steely determination. Even if in his gut he didn't truly like the thought, he would not be able to hold his head high without paying back those who helped him, even if it was unwanted even to the end. Who knows what could happen, maybe it'll be a life changing event, or a dull trip that would only cement his feelings of solidarity. Gorim bet on the latter.

“I-..Well.. My assignments are a little – sporadic.” Evarri pointed out, her heads incline correcting itself. “I wouldn’t know how long you would have to stay to fulfil your … favour?” Her last words rang dubiously, as if Evarri was unsure of what to call it. “So if you’re certain on it you may lose a week or so before it happens. If there is an assignment I get though, assuming you still want to do it. Where would I contact you?”

The auburn haired girl seemed a little baffled, even now of the concept and continually mystified look touching upon her expression.  The offer which the Minotaur had passed along was not one she was used to, if at all ever coming into contact with. Honour hadn’t been the driving force for many in these times.

"Yes, a weeks worth of solitude would be sorely missed." He quirked half sarcastically half serious. He turned to leave before turning back at her. "A man named Bishop is an associate. He knows how to contact me when he needs to. He runs a shop in the plaza." He then made his way towards the bustling city, not a notion he looked forward to, but better than staying past his welcome. "May your sword fell many. Until we meet again, human."

The girl's brow raised at the words unable to pinpoint it's meaning with the tone which stood behind it. Quickly shrugging it off she lazily raised her right hand, her wrist twisting this way and that as her hand tipped from side to side in an oddball wave. "I hope it doesn't fell many." She called out after him. "But until we meet again." Evarri pivoted on her foot, realising the doctor had gone back to his medical instruments.

A sigh escaped her lips, those who held honour in such high regard were asking to get themselves killed.

"Funny sort of bloke, ain't he?" Manny mused from beneath the awning of the tent. "Wouldn't want to get on his bad side. Course figg'erin out his bad side from his good side could be a trick all on its own. I reckon its not the one wiff' the horns."

The little goblin shook his head as though to dismiss the dour minotaur from his thoughts.

"Don't feel like you has to wait around on my part, Miss," he said kindly. "You've been more than kind to Ol' Manny already. I can poke around all on my lonesome if'n you've got places to be. I'd be welcoming of the company though."

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
Evarri’s vision trailed downcast to Manny as he spoke, nodding nonchalantly to his comment.  “I guess, some people are better at that then others though.” Her thoughts pictured a river of faceless people before her, all hiding behind stark white masks. “It’s of no worry.” Evarri added in reply. “Other than the carnival I hadn’t needed to do anything else today. You’re actually helping by giving me something to be getting on with, so what catches your eyes?” She asked, turning and beginning a surefooted walk out of the tent and into the courtyard.

In truth, Evarri hadn’t paid much attention beside necessity. It still didn’t feel like a home, instead somewhere to rest her head and let her body recover the energy it needed. The sound of metal against blade could easily be drowned out and it was mildly comforting to know you were safe, well not indefinitely safe. But safer.

"Wouldn't mind havin' a butcher's 'round the canteen me'self, Miss," the little goblin replied, clearly one to be ruled by his own internal hierarchy of needs. "And per'aps the billets after that. Sooner or later though I ought to meet wiff' the quartermaster to see what 'e has in my size."

"Does you live in camp, Miss? Or has you got a place all your own in town?"

"The camp." She replied, perhaps a little too dryly. "Again, not so sure how many will be around since the Carnivals in town." Evarri kept at a constant pace, once every so often checking beside her to see if Manny was still accompanying her. "Admittedly, I don't think I've seen anything in your size. Ever." A smile graced her lips, twin hues of molten steel focusing upon where they dished out the food.

Manny traipsed along beside Evarri content to be led along the narrow but fastidiously kept lane-ways that stretched between the rows of tents. "That's alright, Miss, I'll 'fink of somefin'," he chirped graciously.

As they arrived at their destination the little goblin picked up his pace and bustled ahead of his guide, pulling the canvas drape aside with a wink and a welcoming sweep of his arm. "After you, Miss. Cor, but don't that just smell loverly!"

A burly man stood behind a table next to a few cauldrons, that looked to contain some sort of soup or stew. He watched as Manny and Evarri walked into the mass hall tent.

"Well 'allow, what'a you two do'n 'ere? 'Ah enough o' the big Carnival?"

The little goblin cocked an eyebrow at the unexpected reception. He wasn't accustomed to the generally convivial manner in which he'd been treated since arriving at the camp and though he remained at a loss to explain it he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. "Couldn't say, guv, didn't really give it much of a chance. Kind of you to ask though," he added cheerfully.

"They kept you here even though all the boys in armor are off galavanting about?"

"I'm sure they'd a giv'n me the day off what I asked about it, but I aint got'n no fancy fer all the excitement."

He motioned a little to his kitchen, if you could call it that.

Re: Nydelisien Army Courtyard
Evarri appeared bemused as the Goblin quickened his pace to lift the canvas’ sweeping entrance aside. “Thank-you.” Spite Manny’s pull of the canvas she had to lightly push some of the higher fabric away from her head, peering inside to be smothered by the smell of watered broth. “Found out Carnivals aren’t so much my thing.” She replied, her words coming hand-in-hand with a nonchalant shrug of her shoulders. “Excitement? Hmm, I just don’t like the crowds.” She shook her head, asserting her point before inclining her head toward the stew. “It alright if we get a bowl each?” The inquiry was more-so for the Manny, Evarri having the inclination he had wanted some food. Especially considering how he devoured the small sweet she had given him a while back.
