Re: The Copper District
Alice had worn a mild grin, but now it sort drooped in a mixture of incredulosity and confusion. This guy was a strange one, talking to thin--- no, wait, there was some sort of pixie--- did it just die? How..... odd........

Shaking her head, Alice replied to the man's.... somewhat confused-sounding comments, her mild grin somewhat returned but it's more visibly a fašade now. "I'm not sure who your friend was, but I don't think I'll be seeing very much of her around. Nice to meet you by the way, but, uh, I think I need to be off now. Places to go, people to beat up, that sort of thing."

She starts to head off, but then pauses. "Oh! wait a second!" She turns back to Choryn, a small piece of paper in her hand. On the paper was a messily scrawled street address of an Iron District building. "You don't seem the sort to need things done for you, but if you ever do, be sure to stop by."

With that, she places the card in his hand and turns, half jogging half walking down the street. She'd meant to have the bartender spread the address around, but she figured it wouldn't hurt to hand it out to a few adventurer-looking types. They always had connections somewhere, and it was always nice having a few different job offers to pick and choose from.

Re: The Copper District
The world spins upside down, tumbling over itself in Lavender's eye. Her wings jerk a few times before stopping, allowing her to tumble to the ground. She lies there motionless and with her last few second of conscious thinks back to the bar. It was the tap water. It must've had lavender leaves in it somewhere upstream. With that her heart stops prancing and she fades into the air, a puff of purple dust.

OOC: Lavender was deathly allergic to lavender.

Choryn watches the little fairy poof into nothingness. I was rather starting to like her." he thinks to himself, but brushes off the whole thing.  He accepts the card silently and nods to the lady quite awkwardly blushing again.  Looking at the card he reads it quickly, it's for a place in the Iron District. Securing the paper in a pocket he considers his options.  He needs some new supplies specifically wire for traps and some arrow heads to replace replace a few that were lost, more parchment paper for drawing maps and some new pencils, along with other consumable odds and ends here and there.  Pulling out the newest Letter of Introduction he had received he takes a thin piece of paper with the address of a military courier post where he can pick up the last of his pay.  Both he notes are in the Iron District, and is on the way to the address the lady had given him.  He resolves to check it out.  Maybe he could find more work there.

Re: The Copper District
--From Parchment and Skull>>>>

Arriving in the copper district from the parchment and skull Choryn immediately passed over the Travernen choosing instead to turn down several darker alleys.  Though the people of the white kingdom generally frown upon the use of subterfuge, deception and information trading there was still a market for it. Especially for those engaged in criminal activities. Choryn had a suspicion that the deserter had received aid of some kind, whether from friends, family, or the underworld itself. Even if it was the latter of the two someone was sure to have talked or been seen, and in some circles information was money. Cutting down a particularly nasty connecting alley he casually approaches a beggar leaning against a wall not doing particularly that much begging.  Flipping a shiny silver shilling in his hand he quietly asks, "Shilling for your thoughts?"

(From: P&S)

Alice followed Choryn down the alley, leaning against the wall opposite whoever Choryn was talking to. If his tactics weren't working she'd have free reign over the interrogation (okay, well, mostly free). Until then, however, why take an axe to the wagon's best wheel? So she relaxed in the background, casually playing with a couple of her knives. Maybe she could learn to juggle..........

The beggar watched as Choryn and Alice walked into his alley. He looked at the sliver coin in Choryn's hand and then to Alice leaning on the wall opposite of his, the two obviously knew ow this worked. Taking a quick glance down either side of the alley way, he took the coin folded his arms and went back to leaning on the wall.

"So. Wat'chu wanna know."

"Zebadiah Custoh" he said simply. He knew that he didn't have to request anything else, if the information broker was good he would provide all the information available... for the right price. Choryn knew the man would be willing to spill a little, a shilling was enough for the man's attention and some basic information on the bounty. If the man had any more information readily available Choryn was easily ready to further grease the man's tongue by lining his pockets a little.

Re: The Copper District
Behind Choryn, Alice had already gotten tired of sitting still. She pulls out three of her throwing knives, two in one hand, one in the other, and began absent-mindedly tossing the single. If this took too long she really might try her hand at juggling. At least she had decent gloves, the only part of her in danger from throwing knives around was her fingertips; she'd never dropped a knife she threw to herself, although her definition of a 'catch' might be debatable.

Re: The Copper District
An impressively tall woman with bright, burning-blue eyes and ash-grey skin walked the alleys of the Copper District, her expression and body language telling any onlooker quite plainly that she would rather not be bothered at the moment, thank you. The large horns curving from the top of her forehead around the back of her head, the long, thick, scaly tail swishing lazily behind her, and the pair of leathery wings wrapped around her shoulders like a cloak likely helped with that.

Naturally, some particularly thick-headed types sometimes decided to test their mettle on the Dragon Kin for money, glory, racism, or other things equally stupid. You'd think they'd learn at some point. Or do they really want to be on fire that badly?

She was nearing her destination now, just another block or so until she had what she was looking for. Well, sort of; she would have information on where to find what she was looking for. Still better off than she was presently. She gripped the bit of coin she had in her hand a bit tighter. She was assured it would be enough. And if it wasn't, well, that's what her expression was for. And failing that, a broken limb or two might change his mindů

The man nodded his head.

"Aye. I know 'im. I'm suppose'n ya want ta know anythin' to look out fer, fer 'is bounty o'course."

He rubbed his chin a bit while thinking, it seemed like he was trying to decide where to start.

"Well, the poster's nevah say much on they's contracts. Real stickl'r in charge o mak'n those. Nevah wants tah give the 'ired 'elp the uppah hand. Save the glory fer 'is own troops 'e does. Anyways, where was I."

Before the informant could continue, two men approached the alley from the far side with angry looks on their faces.

"Oi! You gave us bad info! You cost us the whole job!"

The informant turned to look at the men, slightly worried, but even more annoyed.

"I gave ye perfect infah, it's not me own fault if ye got there after the other blokes what came ask'n!."

Re: The Copper District
Well, Norick thought, hearing the commotion, At least it's not me this time. Still need to talk to him, so might as well have some fun with itů

Walking a bit more quietly while the two gentlemen of below-average intelligence shouted at the man with the bad teeth, she walked casually up behind the pair as they reached for their weapons, making no attempt to hide herself from anyone else, shifted her wings from cloaking her shoulders to the more traditional folds behind her back, flexed her hands, grabbed them both by the neck, lifted them clear off their feet, and said casually, "You're in my way."

To make sure they understood, she "gently" tossed them back the way they came, feeling certain they would survive the five-foot toss onto the stone floor. She still gave a small, throaty growl for good measure before turning back to the informant and his latest customers (but keeping an ear on the two unsatisfied customers she'd just dealt with).

"What do you know about Zebadiah Custoh?" she asked bluntly, showing off the gold she had in her hand. "I don't care who answers, so long as it's true."

Re: The Copper District
When the commotion had occurred behind him Choryn hadn't even flinched or much less turned. The only thing that had changed was somehow Lavender had wound up in the hood of his cloak. He knew she'd alert him to any actual threats behind him so he kept his focus solely on the broker watching his reaction.  The throaty growl and the crude interruption into his negotiations did however upset him a bit and he sized up the new-comer out of the corner of his eye stopping at the wing and horn. He took a deep breath pausing to watch the interaction.  After the interruption and the overtly zealous offer of gold for information he felt he deserved to hear the information as well, his counsel on the matter he would keep until the right opportunity presented itself.

Re: The Copper District
The large dragon-ish female boldly strode into the alley causing even more disruption, than the two troublemakers. When the beastly woman helped the two out of the alley that's when Lavender dove for Choryn's hood. She wouldn't lie that was some beastly strength. She hoped Choryn wouldn't let the woman interrupt the negotiations but apparently new to "business" the woman had barged into the middle of Choryn and the broker's conversation... Knowing Choryn was upset by the way he shifted and took a deep breath, her anger rose to a boiling point reaching a head when the gold crown was proffered to the broker.  Darting like an angry humming bird Lavender circled rapidly around the newcomers head a few times. "Hey you blasted pixie brain, we were in the middle of something here.  Now you've gone and ruined everything!!!" Having seen the monsters strength she came to a hover out of arms reach and hopefully safe in her mind. "and why would we give any information to you!!!" she continues, "I bet you haven't even left the safety of the city yet, and now you're trying to shake down someone for information like you're no better than the corrupt coppers and watchmen."  The entire tirade she flits and darts back and forth, before rapidly kind of switching gears, "You are cute though, by the looks of it though you could use some instruction in the proper method of conducting business.  Maybe Choryn could teach you, he is single after all" she quips looking directly at Alice.  Flitting closer to Alice she says slyly, "Unless you have something you'd like to share," before darting around in a complex patterns of spins, twists, and turns almost too fast for the eye to follow. Finishing the pattern she lands on Choryn's shoulder, and crosses her arms with a bit of attitude watching the dragonkin out of the corner of her eyes.

Re: The Copper District
Alice, for once, manages to keep her own mouth shut. Unlike these other two, apparently, she could tell when there was someone you really didn't want to tick off in the area.

Her only reaction was to raise her eyebrows slightly at the newcomer's arrival, higher at Lavender's outburst, and then roll her eyes at Lavender's last comment. She stopped tossing her knife and waited patiently for the situation to explode.

Re: The Copper District
After promptly losing patience trying to follow the fairy with her eyes while also dealing with her nagging, Norick let a small jet of flame loose from her mouth in an attempt to scare the flitting nuisance off (it didn't work). She just tuned the bug out after that, she'd been told such things before, and by people bigger than her.

What managed to break her frustrated expression into a confused one was the tiny, flying lady's sudden shift from accusatory to flirtatious, even if by proxy.

"Er... I'm not interested...? In a relationship, I mean. I don't even--ugh." She promptly reverted to looking frustrated, crossing her arms and shifting her weight to one leg. "Look, I just wanna know where to find Custoh." She nodded curtly to the nameless informant. "I was told he could help me. I can wait until you all are finished with him if you need me to, but I'm not leaving until I get what I came for. Sound fair to you?"

She blew a bit of smoke from her nose. Not as an intimidation tactic, but to keep it from building up in her lungs and causing problems. Gathering heat energy in the body does that to a person.

Re: The Copper District
Lavender glares at the intruder's flame and smoke, "what do you think your're doing?" but quickly changes gears giggling. "What's wrong with poor Chroyn here, don't you think he has a bit of a rugged handsomeness to him?" she asks the newcomer coyly. "Even if he is a bit on the quiet and shy side?" She gets a bit more focused, "don't worry too much about the interruption, I'll forgive you, but there is a way about this that will save you money and leave everyone happy, without dismembering the informant.  Put the gold away, he owes you now especially since you saved him a beating, and maybe his life."  She says the last part not only for the benefit of the newcomer, but also as a reminder to the broker, that payment has been made.  She smiles sweetly at the newcomer, and then looks at the man. "I'd consider what you say carefully.  We may be more forgiving," she says indicating Choryn and herself, "but I can't vouch for these other two. Just tell us everything you know about Custoh, specifically known associates, accomplices, where he was last seen, and anything else you may find to be interesting."

At the mention of relationships and female attention blood rushes to Choryn's face and he blushes bright red. He looks closer at the intruder and quickly assumes the beet shade from before as Lavender discusses his shyness and quietness.  Looking at the man he say in his ever quiet manner, "The information.... please."  The fiddles with one of the pouches at his hip, embarrassed by the whole affair.

Re: The Copper District
The informant was, at this point, understandably fidgety. This was a lot of action, and he wasn't quite used to that, so it was easy to tell that he was ready to get out of this alley fast.

"This nonsense is gett'n ta be too much for me it is. So lets be gett'n this over wit."

He took a deep breath an calmed himself down a bit.

"Now, there's a reas'n I brought up ta one what makes ta posters and contracts. This is one 'o those cases where 'e aint expect'n nobody to come back, but 'e sure made it seem like a easy job 'e did. But it aint one. Custoh aint yer normal deserter, he's smart, strong, deadly 'e is. 'E probably aint alone neither, 'e's good at mak'n friends in low places. At least six men in 'is group, at least three o them deadly, all 'eld up in a camp in ta forest outside the city. Most likely a mage, a archer, Custoh's a swordsman, and then a couple o hired thugs, all o them with their own marks on they's heads probably."

He tried to think for a moment once more and then shook his head,

"Other than that, not much ta say. Be careful, don't die. Make sure ta bring 'em all in though, knock that contract maker down a peg o two."

Norick silently rolled her eyes and pocketed her gold while the informant spoke. At least this one wasn't being difficult. She still couldn't stop her tail from twitching impatiently every so often while the man spoke to them.

"You forgot the most important part, friend," she said, taking a small step forward. "Location. We can't bring them in if we don't know where they are."

She glanced at the other three and said, "By the way, we're all partners now," as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

He took a look at Choryn,

"An speak'n o personnel, since yer all buddies, this one 'ere looks like a tracker, I'm sure all 'e needs is 'south' ta find yer marks."

Alice catches her knives an sheathes them in quick succession, then turns to head out of the alley, motioning to Choryn without looking behind her. "C'mon, if you're as good as you say you are, finding a group of six in a neat orderly forest ought to be a walk in the park." She doesn't acknowledge the dragon-kin's statement for now, mostly because she isn't sure how it'll affect the distribution of money.

Choryn nodded, frowning at the informant, as the man shared information about him.  Though he couldn't be too upset he really didn't have anything to hide, and the more people who knew about his skills as a tracker the higher paying jobs he could take.  He was still bright red from beings so close to the two women, and he really couldn't think of anything to say.  The newcomer's statement about teaming up bothered him but he really wasn't sure he could address the issue at the time.  Plus he had already made an agreement with Alice to split the bounty, another person getting a share meant less for all of them.  He decided in front of the informant was probably the worse time to discuss things anyways, let the man think he was working in a team for now.

He heads to the end of the alley

Re: The Copper District
Lavender sighed, she supposed it was her fault for talking about the girl learning from Choryn, but she had figured the newcomer would have ignored the offer out of pride.  It was definitely odd for a solo bounty hunter to take up with an established team mid-hunt unless they were unsure of themselves or the target. She made a mental note to keep an eye on the new party member figuring either her or Alice will be the first to need a bit of a healing boost, though her money is on the new girl. On the other hand maybe the girl was genuinely interested in Choryn, she mused to herself, maybe she's a fan of Choryn's she looks the girl over again, and corrects herself.  Nope this was a woman, she smiled at the newcomer darting off of Choryn's shoulder and landing on the top of the woman's head between her horns she grabs on and leans in front of the woman's eye upside down, "I hope you like your men strong and silent, and you only get a quarter of a share since you joined late, and because you're here because of Choryn.  It's okay though he'll teach you well maybe even train you personally."   She allowed herself to roll forward over the newcomer's face darting off quick as a thought, "though if you're going to work with us, you should probably have a name.  I'm Lavender like the flower, and Choryn is pretty obvious.  Alice is the juggler of knives over there," she says indicating Alice as she darts over to Choryn landing on his shoulder.
