Re: Discussion Area

Big Question:

During the game have we ever gotten EXP?

I can't find anything on it in my list.

Re: Discussion Area

I don't believe I've ever given out XP... it kind of got lost in the various shuffles of players.

I'll think about it while I get back on track.

Re: Discussion Area

So I invented the titles of a few books and their authors. Then I realised that there might be a real book called "The Magic of Trees".

Re: Discussion Area

I was finally trying to figure out the timeline for this game, and went looking back over all the old threads to see if I had ever established a date. I haven't been able to find any, but I did run across some interesting posts.

First, I was surprised all over again at all the great characters that were created for this game. It was just a shame that they were expecting a combat-heavy game, and got frustrated (and left) when they couldn't kill Orcs by the thousands. I'm not sure I could have handled a game that was supposed to recreate the massive battle scenes from the movies. It's just not my style.

But, the other thing I discovered is that Lady Isile and Borun have been here since the beginning! They are the last of Keepers of Olvar. They've been playing this game now for 3 years!

So, anyway, the current year is 2955 in the Third Age. Does that work for everyone?

So, Borun, Grimfast, Lady Isile, Radagast the Brown, and Saxon should all update their characters now, and progress to 11th level.

My my I totally forgot about leveling up to 11th.  Hope the others remembered to.

Off to working on it.

In reply to Azurak the Blue (msg # 662):

Hehe - you run an interesting game, which I why I am still here. :-)

I have played a few different games (and game systems) on RPOL. Unfortunately they all seem to end within a few months, mainly due to GM burnout/apathy.

I think that the slow pace of this game has helped its longevity - as well as the GM's enthusiasm to continue the game.

Here's to the next three years!

Re: Discussion Area

Thanks for the kudos.

I can't say that I don't get a bit of burnout now and then, and a few days away from the game doing none RPG stuff usually serves to cure that.

Mostly, it's the players that keep a game going. As long as you post, then I know you are still interested.

Re: Discussion Area

Pfui. Don't know whether it's the holiday blehs, blahs, blues or busyness, but I find myself unusually lacking in time with unexpected lack of mental energy to boot. I get a few posts in (if I'm lucky), and then my brain turns to mush. Getting around to posting as I can.

Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!

Re: Discussion Area

Happy Holidays indeed!  And yes, with my older son home from college for winter break and then the younger bouncing off the walls from all the Christmas presents and wanting to play the board games I got them all day long, I've found myself with less time to get online.  That will change soon though when the younger goes back to school on the 4th.  Just ... gotta ... last ... :P

Re: Discussion Area

Ha-ha. Yes, I know who she is. I just watched White Christmas a few days earlier; she's one of the reasons I like watching it.

There probably was some subconscious derivation, but when I was typing the name, I was thinking of it as one word.

Oops. I didn't go to your link. Mistook Vera Lynn for Vera-Ellen, the dancer.

I've never heard of Vera Lynn.

Re: Discussion Area

I haven't heard of Vera Lynn either but looks like she had a pretty good run.

Forgive me for brain toots, since it was probably stated before and I forgot and can't find it in skimming back some, but does the dome prevent people from teleporting out?  I can see if it's set so people cannot teleport back in since it is to prevent anything getting to them but wondered if it was possible that they could go out, maybe even be 'keyed' as citizens so could get back in while non-citizens could not.

Re: Discussion Area

No, I don't think it was specifically stated that the Dome couldn't be teleported through, in or out, only that it was otherwise impenetrable. Normally, a Wall of Force can be teleported through, but the Dome can't be, so it may not strictly be a Wall of Force.

Re: Discussion Area

January was not a good month.  Kiddo was in the hospital for a week then it was dealing with catching him up at school ... then he developed a viral URI with both ears infected.  I'm just getting over the URI myself but thankfully it wasn't the flu for either of us.  Just finished reading stuff to catch up here and as soon as Lady Isle gives the word, Anira will help teleport everyone and set up shelter.
