In reply to Wren (msg # 180):

Outflank (Combat, Teamwork)
You look for every edge when flanking an enemy.

Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +4.

Benefit: Whenever you and an ally who also has this feat are flanking the same creature, your flanking bonus on attack rolls increases to +4. In addition, whenever you score a critical hit against the flanked creature, it provokes an attack of opportunity from your ally.

Re: Discussion Area

After looking over everyone's character, this is what I've come up with for groups. It's not carved in stone yet, but I was trying to fit classes into the different concepts here, and then balancing everything else.

Keepers of Kelvar (animals)

Aerethion (Elf; fighter/ranger; master of the bow)
Davis (Human; barbarian-totemist/fighter)
Elured (Half-Elf; ranger/magus)
Ro'kath (Half-Orc; fighter/ranger)
Sky Sheer'een (Half-Elf; fighter-arcane archer/druid-master of masks)

Keepers of Olvar (plants)

Arad Marahellon (Half-Orc; cavalier/sorcerer)
Faelostiel (Elf?; piper/witch)
Gwynhwyfar the Fair (Elf; druid/sorceress)
Haldir (Elf; ranger/magus)
Lady Isile (Moriquende; sorceress/oracle)

Keepers of Silence (troubleshooters)

Anna the Red (Human; summoner/rogue)
Borjnen Boulderol (Dwarf; barbarian/hill-giant-fighter)
Borun Redbeard (Dwarf; Monk/Empyreal Sorcerer)
Ehrindil (Elf; samurai/magus)
Wren (Half-Elf; monk/rogue)

Not sure how accurate this data is as a lot of players are still tweaking their characters, so it will probably change.

Also, the teams weren't set up with any sort of balance, but how I felt they fit the theme.

Re: Discussion Area

I'm slightly hesitant to party alongside a Monk / x and an x/rogue, since that's a lot of covered ground, but at the same time, I don't strictly mind it, either, it looks like a fair group, and I'd rather be in the troubleshooters group as is, I think :D

still, i think Wren's different enough from the others that it'll work.

Could switch Wre w/ Ro'Kath then we wont have 3 rangers & the other grp will have one? That would even it out better I think, but I'm just a silly female elf.

I actually wouldn't mind tagging into Plants group, to be honest. I think I'd get along great with Isile, and the group seems a bit dry on melee fighters.

Re: Discussion Area

I know the lists were made with specific character themes and priorities in mind (and I agree with the assessment of the groupings if based solely on that). I think there's something to be said for both chemistry and party balance, though. My personal opinion is we should be grouped together first based on which characters seem to get on better, second with an eye towards party balance, and third with concern to character goals/motivations with these three being balanced as best as reasonably possible in that order.

Re: Discussion Area

I intentionally put the 3 rangers in the group that deals with animals because they are more about animals, whereas the druid deals more with plants.

All the suggestions are valid. I'll switch it around and see how that looks.

Ooo! Nice list of monsters! Didn't remember all of those!

As for Dark Elf, as someone said, it's a mechanics thing. So Moriquendi, Dark Elf, Night Elf, Drow... these are just different names for the same thing. How you define it might only affect archetypes.

I'm sure you are right, but for everyone's interest. I am not a drow. I just choose to use that name for my people. My elf people have been somewhat in hiding in the mountains, so thats why I haven't been around my cousins before. I'm not evil or act like the drow do.

Re: Discussion Area

The Cavalier|Sorcerer isn't up to date, I'm a Druid|Witch these days.

As for the groups, he'd thematically fit the plant group quite well. He also is a bit of a gish, flitting between range and melee.

Re: Discussion Area

I don't have a strong opinion, but it may be more fun to have characters with different strengths working together. Having three rangers in a group may be thematically accurate, but it might be more fun for those players if they weren't all trying to do the same role.

Similarly, it might be more fun if the "minority" races were in different groups. Perhaps swap me with Gwynhwyfar. This would bring more variety in the Olvar group and bring better healing to Silence.

okay she is a Barding of the People of the Lake and she is a Starsoul Sorceress so she might have some connection to the Valar or the elves as a result of this connection with the stars...

Re: Discussion Area

Yes, it will depend on me... and time zones, and RL issues...

I can usually post several times a day, but there are just days that manage to slip by due to errands and such or just being to tired to think straight.

I'm hoping that'll start to even out some...

But we can always ask...

What is your posting preference?

1/day
2/day
3/day
4/day
more/day
other

And the corollary that always comes with that, will you be bothered if the posting gets ahead of you by a day or two?
