Guru Indian Cuisine.
You're the first one to arrive, the hostess has a table ready for when your date shows up, as the restaurant isn't busy at the moment.

Xavier took advantage of the delay to be nervous, and look over the menu repeatedly.

It didn't take long for Spell Slinger to show up.

"Hey there."

"Not bad, a certain tome didn't want to be found, bu tI did eventually find it," Spell Slinger said.

"Glad you found it," said Xavier.  "Do you have a lot of books for that kind of thing?"

"That don't want to be found?" Spell Slinger asked. "It happens. You don't know what tomes of eldritch lore will do."

"Okay, now I'm picturing a book sneaking out of your place, disguising itself with a hat and sunglasses, kinda bouncing along, ducking out of sight behind telephone poles..." Xavier contemplated this image.

"That, uh, wouldn't actually happen, right?"

"Okay, that's got to be a pain," said Xavier.  "Can you do that 'chain the books down' thing?"

"I can, but it makes it hard to actually use them. They can be temperamental," Spell Slinger said,

"So you've got to kinda cajole them along, while they play games and pranks on you?" said Xavier.  "Makes sense.  Were you ever in management?  Or have to teach high school?  Sounds like good training..."

"No, I'd rather stick with shepherding 'knowledge man isn't meant to know'. It seems more predicable," Spell Slinger said. "What about you? Have you ever considered another profession besides being an EMT?"

"I thought about being an auto mechanic," said Xavier.  "It didn't really work out for me, though, when I found out about how most of them get paid.  I kinda thought it would be neat to go into med school, become a doctor, but my grades just weren't good enough to make up for the lack of money, you know?"

"I think it's great you're an EMT though," Patricia said. "Helping people at both jobs."

"....Yeah, maybe not," Xavier admitted.  "It'd be nice if I could just make a living being a superhero, though.  I mean, sure, money, whatever, not the point, but I'm always worried that I'm going to have to just reveal myself to the world if I get attacked on the job, you know?"

"It might take some time, but I think I could find a spell or two that'd help with that," Patricia said.
