OOC Chat #4

Just a quick note – and a very big thank you to you all for bearing with me.  :>

The rather elaborate nature of the trap you have fallen into should just have become clear <grins> ... the way I see it, if Math Mathonwy, the “Dark God of Secrets and Forbidden Knowledge” can’t just outright abuse that power, then who can ?!!

BUT I will promise you a rematch with the spider-demon when you’re not crippled by a completely inimical environment - unclimbable shaft, anti-magic shell, forcecage – oooh yes the odds were stacked against you !  Gods-given knowledge and some extremely bright if not very nice wizard-priests will do that.  But, it was all in a good cause ...

And at long last a very warm welcome to our new player Ayas Rocan who has been waiting patiently for many, many months for the trap to be sprung so he can finally meet you.  Not quite as long a wait as Yetta had when she joined – but very nearly.

Right ... I’ve got you all into this mess ... over to you to get yourselves out of it !  <evil grin>

PS: I’ve had to juggle groups around a bit ... if you’re missing anything, let me know.  :>

Welcome, Ayas!

I could have.  I'd have been happy to.  You didn't even ask.

In fairness, apart from my record-shattering long and lonely wait to even find out there was an OOC thread, I don't remember "waiting to join" so much as, "being given tons of personal attention and my own solo adventure that somehow worked out to, like, the perfect meeting scene."

It wasn't all bad, is what I'm saying.

...Actually, joining the real game was a little bit disappointing by then.  But happily, Hamin and Brugar have been totally worth it.

Edit: But, I seem to be in my own thread again, so... er.. yay?

Well, yes ... but not alone for too long this time.  :P  Just created a new shared thread you can post in, thanks to unfolding developments, though Yetta may have to wait for someone else to start that off.

I, on the other hand, must perforce leave you all in peace for two weeks as I'm going to be sans computer as my wife and I make our annual pilgrimage ... well, we're off on our hols !

Try not to start a riot before I get back !!  ;>

Have fun! :o)

We'll still be here when you get back. You have ensured that very neatly by locking us up in prison for the duration. ;o)

Ooh, I should have started here!  You didn't say why you were going to be away in the other places I see you.  Have fun!

I am just waiting until he is out of sight, then I am going to to use the SJG Toon rules -  so that I can use my Chutzpah to break wind explosively and blow the bloody doors off!

Yeah ... but I can just see Wile E Coyote grinning in triumph, stepping out the opening ... and with a certain inevitability plummeting into the canyon below !

No rioting yet ? Disappointed !!  Would you like me to start one for you ?? ;>

But that only happens because he makes his Smarts roll, and since Hamin doesn't need to worry about that, I'll bet he's already halfway to Talhamnoduin to get help.

No worries, Dad!  I've got your back!

Re: OOC Chat #4

Hey, guys!  I just wanted to let you know I have to take my computer in for some repairs, so I might be a bit slower for a while... I have another laptop I can borrow, but borrowing means I have less time on it, and I have my tablet, but it sucks to type on.  So I'll be around, but maybe not with Yetta's super-fast reflexes.

Skald, you're totally free to NPC her if we need to keep things moving!

No worries !  Of course, we'll look after Yetta for you while your Crystal Ball is off for Mending.  Usual caveats, of course:

"Humming 'I'm a little teapot' Yetta proceeds to give the dragon a good kicking ..." :P

And now you've made your escape from prison I was finally able to allocate all those XP you've bled and fought for over the last goodly while, and happy to report you've all gained a well-earned level.  Enjoy !  While you can, that is, before I throw a mountain at you ...  ;>

You'll be fine.  I've seem mountains dropped on dwarves before.  They just breathe in deep through the nose and say, "It's good to be home."  Very anticlimactic.

Going to be MIA for the next four weeks ... but feel free to question your prisoners while I'm gone !  :P

Hopefully my last post might give you something to argue talk about in my absence.  At least for a few minutes ...

Wow.  When you actually just say it like that, that really just... brings it out, doesn't it?  Did you guys see the recent announcement from Wizards about that?  In case anyone hasn't and is interested - https://dnd.wizards.com/articl...es/diversity-and-dnd

As statements go, it's pretty good.  I will admit my first thought was a rather smug, "Earthdawn actually fixed almost all of that 30 years ago in its first edition," but I suppose that's not helpful.  So, good job, D&D!

...though still not as good as Earthdawn.

Re: OOC Chat #4

I hadn't seen that announcement from Wizards, but it is good to see it.  And, I am sad to say, I didn't really see the implications of what Hamin said, until you pointed it out  :(  Team work rules!

TBH, I think I  had become inured to the White Elf = Good, Black Elf = Bad stereotype - although I think presenting them with different race names helped that.  I was always more disturbed by the deliberate race-hatred that was thrown at PC Half-orcs (It was certainly built into the earlier rules).  Then, as I think about it, there has always been 'built in' enmity between Dwarves and Elves as well ....
