Re: Plaven/Chronor
captainn says to go ahead and board." Rutger gave Kriss a thumbs up. He motioned toward the air raft again."She wants us to bring our guests aboard. if you have any luggage go ahead and load up."

"If you have anything explosive, flammable or toxic...I can store them in the Ships locker till we get where were going. Afraid I'm going to have to ask you to secure all weapons and ammo as well.

I'll give you a receipt and inventory for your personal belongings and weapons."

also if you feel the need I have one section prepped as a scrubdown room, you can scrub your suits, and gear there. If you like I'll service your suits, and recharge life support for you.

Richard considers the evidence.  "We'll have to tear the ship apart Ardens to find out whatever it is that is in the ship that is affecting us.  It must be something related to the Jump incident though."

"Don't recall anything out of the ordinary coming with us when we mis-jumped and the Lady Anne rescued us,"  Ardens ponders  "Except for bullets holes and Berylian Fever !"

"We didn't get Hephaetus or any portion of him downloaded to any of our portable computers did we ?" he looks to Richard.  "He was crippled as it was to get him onto the Icarus."

Kris's test gives the engineer cause to grin broadly.  "Spoken like a true programmer," he applauds his ex-Captain.  "Run it again and try to duplicate the error condition.  You don't find a lot of pilots who'd say that after a crash !"

But he knows better than to argue. "I'll be the control," he selflessly volunteers, climbing onto the air raft, regarding the controls with interest before strapping himself into the passenger seat.

In reply to Kris Pyke (msg # 515):

" Oh hell no!" Rutger popped his visors dark sunshield looking surprised, confused and almost horrified" Where they hell did you learn that! ...are they giving classes when we aren't around."

he shot Saphire a sharp accusing look.

That's ain't gonna work on me, I've got three exes no way are you gonna use...."He paused shook his head hitched his shotgun out of the seat next to him.

"damnit...Alright but you are gonna clear it with Cora.He muttered something about women genetics, and the look as he climbed out of the air raft."Lab rat reporting for duty...Ma'am."

"I want to file a grievance, using 'the look' is strictly prohibited. Unless I am married to, sleeping with, or have at some point slept with you...so you owe me a beer...and if I get zapped six beers...cold, and not the local stuff. It tastes like Vargr spit."

You should be logical about this... leaving her alone to be passed out and at the mercy of others might not be such a smashing plan.
...

We could just fly this little skiff off some distance away from the ship. Perhaps One of the unaffected can fly? then when you all get sick and start passing out we can turn around and the test is done.

Wasn't the ship gone for a while before they had a problem?

Akuekai says. It's subtle he doesn't contradict anything but hits the flaw straight on.

Hmmm yes - they had at least 20 min treating the factor and going in and coming out ... Maybe there is some psionic shielding...
In any case there must have been a couple minutes for Rutger to come down after the ship returned.

Mako says out loud not convinced the experiment is entirely thought out but not against it either.

"I learned that watching it done to me."

"That's a good idea Mako. But no one on the crew is rated to fly an air raft. So that means issues in a crisis."

Looks at dented and scraped air raft with years of being pounded getting in and out of ship from the inept ministrations of previous flyers.

Re: Plaven/Chronor
With a shrug Mako concedes it's not really his business of or how they try to pass out.

Well, we better get on board while you go about whatever experiments you intend - I would only say, your health was quite precarious, we were very active in trying to maintain your vitals. I'm no doctor but I expect one would not recomend having that experience again the same day and without assistance.

Mr Rutger is it? That's very kind of you to offer to service our gear, I honestly expected a bit less friendliness with your fellows in such a state, but I suppose if you didn't have a good reason for it we may be handing you our weapons under different terms ....

Perhaps we should leave our weapons in the scrub down area and meet your captain there or near it. If she wishes us to leave we can send a comm and exit with no harm. If all is well we will scrub everything and leave it for you to service with our compliments.

Re: Plaven/Chronor
"If we stuck some wheels on it, I could drive it," Ardens tries to be helpful. "Nobody ever seems to want me to play with the flight controls.  Jump engines, life support, computer controls - them they have no problem with, but make the mistake of calling the ship an it instead of a she just once, and you'll never get your hands on the helm."

He shakes his head sadly, but brightens when Mako points out the flaw in the arrangment.

"It's the robot-human-alien conundrum, isn't it," he nods thoughtfully.  "Logic says that someone unaffected needs t.o stay with Kris ... which would be you ?  Or him ?" he points towards Akuekei.

"Cora needs to return to the lake to refuel anyway." Rutger pointed out. But keeping one of the folks not affected would be good idea...Cora can take off, refuel and we can set around here." He replied to Kris."Anyone can handle an air raft, of you don't mind a few more dings in the fender. and at this point who would even notice that thing was out of warranty years ago."

"I'm a friendly guy, most days"
Rutger replied to Mako," I'd rather make sure everyone Suits are up to snuff myself. It's never fun to do paperwork that includes explaining why the suits weren't properly inspected and okayed by a crewman."

"And the weapons issue is just a basic precaution.Considering the circumstance you understand the precautions.....once the Skipper gives me the okay I'll hand them back over."

And for future reference, I never use force when a polite request will do the trick. I hate paperwork, and strong arming people always leads to paperwork."
The last part was spoken with a soft chuckle as he shrugged. his mood fairly friendly by this point.

"Ardens you don't want to know what happens  in basic  if you call a ship it...trust me Apologizing to a ship at the top of your lungs in front of everyone is not fun.

I will come with you sir, and meet, Cora is it?

If you all must do this experiment I will permit Professor Akuekai to remain and defend you. If we don't meet up within 2 hours, or if you are ready to collect his gear and go aboard please give him a moment to contact me.

"Alright Mako, it is then. Wasn't there a shark that had that moniker in Ancient times?  Should I treat you as a shark Mako?  What is the name of your companion.  Thank you for sending me your credentials.  I shall look them over.  As for your question about calling me Captain if it is easier, it is just that.  Captain is easier than some of the other names I have been caled.  Now if you excuse me, I need a moment with my crew."

Re: Plaven/Chronor
While Captain Cora, (it has a nice ring to it, like a superhero).  Speaks with her crew Mako quickly edits a government contract setting up his company as the contractor and subcontracting for one investigator with Tactical combat training and negotiation. And One combat medic. He includes his and Akuekai's data showing. The details are boring and there is nothing unexpected. It is written for two weeks with an option for up to two years before a new bid is required.

The contract clearly states that the subcontractors will continue under current unbroken contract with Skenska Corp with pay and benefits while performing duties for the scout service as required by officers of the service.

He will send it over when she is done.

Cora received Mako's documents and looked through them.  THey seemed to be standard but she really didn't have much of an option.  She didn't like the news from Rutger though.

COMS:

Very well Mako.  You may enter the ship.  I will make up my mind on passage after I get to see you and your associate.

Attention all crew.  I want everybody to come on board.  We will discuss things once you are here.  Mako and his associate are to be allowed to enter.
