I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrated it. I cooked all day and didn't stop eating till I hated myself as is the custom.

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

Had dinner with my friend's family, as usual. This year, with guests and grandkids present, there were enough people to need a kid's table. Having been doing holidays with this family for almost 20 years now, they pretty much are family, but I get to enjoy any drama without being caught in it. :)

Unlike Bruenor, our day wasn't quiet. Whenever my family gets together, all the neighbors know it from the volume of the laughter and excitement. ... And the 15 cars crowding the street. :D

In reply to Volsh son of Vor (msg # 386):

Ended up with Covid the week before so had to cancel our plans. Was feeling better (& tested negative) by thanksgiving but we still just stayed in house fixed a small meal. But all in all was a good weekend.

Hope yours, & everyone else's, was as well.

Thank you! Seasons Greetings to one and all. As this year winds down, the immortal words of Colonel Sherman T. Potter are on my mind.

"Here's to the New Year. May she be a damn sight better than the old one."

I'll second that. Won't hurt my feelings if it starts early, either. Been a bad day for my asthma. :P

I'm looking forward to better weather. It's been mostly gray with occasional drippy days (rarely as energetic as a drizzle, but still...). Starting to feel like I'm in Kansas again. :P

I'll be happy to send you some of the snow we're expecting tomorrow. In my part of Iowa, maybe as much as 4 inches is on the way tomorrow. In our DM's part of the state, maybe 7+.

Happy New Year!

I'm not dead.  I'm still tending to my mental health, but I am alive. Not sure when we'd be able to resume, but just letting people know what's going on!

Great to hear. In the interim my 24 year old son, he's #2 of 5, made me a grandfather 9 months and 4 weeks ago.

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

So glad to hear from you, DM! I agree with Bruenor, your priorities are right. I wish you the best!

Congrats Volsh! I'm curious, did your son have the curse put on him? You know, "I hope that you have a kid that is just like you!" I did that to my kids and I think it scared them off from having kids of their own. (Of course, that's because my parents put that curse on me, and it worked!)

I'm not sure yet, he's only 4 weeks old, but our family's ability to clone is still running strong.

It's great being a grandpa: All of the benefits without any of the responsibilities. lol. Just kidding, as I will do as his parents wish, but they had better be specific. 3:)

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 402):

Good to hear from you. :) And I agree with everyone else -- your priorities are on track! Too many folks try to ignore the mental health side, because it's tougher to get a handle on than physical health most times. It's probably more important, though.

Congrats, Volsh, on becoming a "grand" parent. I've heard some folks have a lot of fun with that whole benefits without responsibility gig.
