yup. This week sucks right now. As my wife said when she left the office yesterday she felt like she got slapped by the Devil.

We've got it hot here in Texas as well, though ironically it's a bit mild for us at "almost 100"

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

Iowa's week of 90-ish and humidity doesn't seem so bad in comparison. Of course, we also don't have many shade trees left in my neighborhood. The sun seems omnipresent. Great for fans of Pelor, not so cool for pasty skinned elves. Or vampires.

Averdante, glad to hear the surgery went well, and that you're on the mend.  :)

Yeah, weather's been okay in Iowa, not stellar, but at least I'm nocturnal.  Not a vampire, last time I checked though...

I miss 100+ temps. I used to live in Oklahoma and miss the dry heat something terrible

I should have pulled out the Big Guns™. One wolf is hardly that intimidating. Third level is 1d4+1, so I would have had at least 2. ;)

Just FYI, summon nature's ally is a full-round action to cast, so the wolves will show up next round.

Yup. Wouldn't you have loved to be in the room when these spells were being designed? I swear that there was someone whose job is was to make sure all of the coolness was sucked out of any spell that wasn't a fireball. ;D

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

Something something "bell book and candle" something something, probably was the thought process there. Make it real ritualistic and stuff, opening a gate to another world or what have you.

Either way, at least you're far back enough he's unlikely to try to punch you in the face.  :D

Ha! It's times like this when you realize that 6 seconds is both a very short time, and an extremely long time. Punching in the face is so much simpler. :D

Hey, I liked Bell, Book and Candle.  Always enjoyed watching that. Wasn't that the one with Pyewacket the cat?

Good movie. There's a tinge of The Shop Around the Corner (1940) about it.

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

With a heavy heart, I'm resigning all my character(s). I'm fighting cancer (good odds). If it's convenient, I'd like to keep this game on my list. It may be that I'll have the energy to check in, hopefully apply for something, in mid-December. Feel free to have my character(s) taken over. For those who wish me well, thank you. I'll not be checking in on this game. Thank you to all who have interacted with me for so long.

Still not dead.  Having a spike in my depression; adjusting treatment further and whatnot.  Better living through chemistry and therapy!

Re: Out of Character Discussion - Part III

Lived through that myself. Luckily, while the SSRI proved conclusively the problem was biochemical and not psychological, I had a lot of side-effects that eventually became worse than the value of the drug. I then got phenomenally lucky, and the first non-drug supplement I tried proved to be my solution. I don't consider myself cured -- depression is a sneaky bastard -- but I'm definitely in remission, and infinitely grateful for it. :)

I hope you have some good fortune in your struggle, too. Keep faith.
