Hello.

I must ask, though, will there be either self imposed defenestration or a wood chipper involved in this game?

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
Your GM name is a reference to a Coen brother's film.

Hudsucker Proxy starts with an exec jumping out of a window. Fargo has a body disposed of using a wood chipper. And, yeah, defenestration is ejecting someone out a window. Interestingly, it was so common that the Defenestration of Prague actually could refer to 2 separate events.

I watch a little of everything no worries. Things like Betterman and Claymore, as well as Ranma and Little pet shop of horrors really get me excited though. That being said a good romantic comedy like hashi mashi or dears/chobits is good now and then.

I love romance anime, I just watched Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl. I have seen Lodoss and liked it, also Slayers is a favorite.

Love Dr. Who. Lots of my students are as well, which I find interesting in middle school.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
For this group, I am considering keeping it smaller than G1... like 4-6 people.
That means we could start you all as soon as we get 1-3 more people. If you have any friends that might want to join in, now is the time. Open slots for your group are POSSIBLY a magic user, a bard type and a monk type.

Ya, well you don't actually know why you are being summoned... Keep that in mind.  Yes I agree, that is why I kept you in this group because I think you and the fighter and the assassin will make a nasty combination. So you don't need too many more people or it will turn into a large party which might not be best for what your "sponsor" desires.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
It's an heirloom that Fidelias will refuse to part with, but it could easily be repaired. He also has some smithing skills, but he's nervous to work on the heirloom, so maybe we'll build that in somewhere and get some training from a smith as well as the blade repaired.

I'm also toying with the idea of the blade, at some point, manifesting magical potential and calling it Amoracchius, a blade from the Dresden Files that you later find out is Excalibur and was forged from one of the nails of the cross Christ died on, called a Sword of Faith. I'm not a religious person at all, so hopefully that idea doesn't upset anyone, and I'd obviously have to get the GM's approval as well as build it into the story properly... but yeah, toying with that idea.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
I'm very familiar with Dresden. I loved the atheist knight of the cross. He was great.

And, yeah, we can get him some training, definitely. I think the goal is for all of us to expand greatly in a way. The Lodoss connection is the thing I'm thinking of.

There are always things, though, that can be a relic? Perhaps something from before the war that could help this group along with other points from all our histories? Just thinking of ways to deal with the darkness like the other group, but through story versus fiat.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
Never checked out Earthdawn, I am not opposed to buried references but I honestly prefer to create new concepts. Like I have opened up lore creation to anyone in the game, so that allows us to create a concept that might have relevance to the world before the time of the "rending" and then apply that concept to said sword and boom we have our own reference. with a buried reference that stays with this world of lore... but I digress... I think I need a beer. brb

NOTE: The letter that each of you received (mysteriously of course) basically detailed that your presence was requested @ an address located within the Vayas district called  the Red Groves. Keep in mind, you do not know WHAT the reason is... or how the letter reached you... or why you were selected.

So approach the gate, don't forget your letter, whenever you're ready and let the good times roll.

i appreciate that. Salinda is who she is. she's also an adept fighter and can use magic to screw with people so she's developed a bit of a libertine way of living her life. If I didn't it wouldn't be portraying her properly. It's actually rather fun to play such a carefree character, even if she does understand the serious issues and what must be done.

But, Salinda's seen some bad stuff in her life, so isn't scared easily. she just wants to change the world for a better place, though. That's the goal. And Violence is rarely the answer to that. Souls, hearts, minds. She's a beat, not a hippie.

I don't know what is going on with the other person I was going to approve. Either way... not going to wait any longer; this group is large enough. So we will proceed forward and I will stop stalling you. I will post for you in a few hours. I gotta go to work shortly and when I get the chance I will put it up.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
sigh ... Salinda. You are literally creating lore about this goddess as your posts go on. Creating conflict with every NPC based on something that nobody else (me in particular) knows, because it isn't defined in any lore is kinda.... annoying. Either give me a proper write up on this Levanah or stop creating your own ultimatums based on a concept in your head. OR give me a private GM line with your post so I can determine what it is that is going to change your viewpoint.
Creating argument for the sake of argument does nothing but obfuscate the purpose of ... well... everything.

Also I don't remember discussing your character communing with this goddess??? It is starting to sound like you are overextending the characters ability as a priestess of the moon... considering all the limitations we discussed. Remember, you are not a proficient trained priestess... there was nobody to train you... your abilities have been gained through luck and chance... and repeated attempts... not by communing with a nearly forgotten goddess. I think the source of your magic being the moon is legit, but this continued mentioning of a goddess that had nothing to do with my original concept is pushing the boundaries of what I consider acceptable use of "magic." Don't take this the wrong way, I just want to make sure things don't venture beyond the scope of what is allowed.

I definitely don't want you to think I'm stifling your creativity but I am getting a funky feeling about this Levanah stuff... I always ask the same question... in a world where almost nobody remembers the old gods... and magic is almost completely gone... how do you have such a close relationship with a god? How does person x have the ability to summon a flame demon... it's all relevant, to me.

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
I gave you that in the first few posts about her. Freedom and such was always an overarching thing about her. No goddess of the randomness of fate and such would accept being bound. Also, the comments about her beliefs about the rich and poor and how that connected to the way things should be. It's not creating argument for sake of argument. Submitting completely to anyone else isn't being true to your religion, to your goddess. She is change, freedom, I mentioned that. Change implies the inability to solidify one's word to a longstanding thing of any sort. Not to mention Salinda's own views on it. Expecting absolute obedience is rather a ridiculous request to anyone that isn't inclined to it or driven to it.

No, basically telling them that she won't say yes to their requirements but will say yes to something equitable. if they have another option, go with it and I'll deal with it and move on game wise. If they'll accept that she'll listen to what they say, follow it as long as it doesn't go against her beliefs, and not care about what the may have to offer unless they choose to give it because she does a good job and gets things done then so be it.

I will figure something out, but seriously I need you to give me a paragraph or two detailing your character stance on these things if you are going to have such a strong opinion IC... and clarification about Levanah being the goddess of randomness of fate? or the moon? I am confused about that for SURE. We can move it to PMs.

Sooo I don't think this needs explanation... here is all I will say about the matter....

Her first PM to me after I told her I would work it out... but asked for clarification regarding some of the Lore she kept referencing... that doesn't exist. Basically said that if I wasn't going to change then she would not agree and would bow out.

Needless to say.. that didn't end up well... she kept arguing that this goddess blah blah blah randomness of fate.. blah blah blah... moon priestess blah blah.... so ya...

Eandro! play us a sad song on yer little fiddle.

and fear not, there are plenty of RTJs to sort through.. plus I can bump the thread tomorrow... so ehh we will continue and I will modify the story for the time being.

I poked through my posts real quick and didn't see any incosistencies style-wise, I believe they're all from the same perspective, but I'm not used to writing this way (typically it'll be third or first person, where this is almost a weird gray area mix) so I'm just asking for some help on that.

Do one of you want to post entering the osprey or should I just blanket post the group entering and getting rooms. If that is the case are you all sharing a room or are you each getting separate rooms?

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
As far as I'm concerned, you can write up the entrance and getting rooms. Also, if we're getting one big room, I can tell you right now that Nasukaya would be willing to pay a little bit extra for a separate room. Since this could be her last night under a roof in a while... sharing a room with three snoring men would not make her all that happy. lol

Re: OOC 1 - Group 2
OK, LOL. I will write a post if you are all set on the Grand Osprey and deduct the silver from your moneys. I will just give you all your own room. ALSO just a note about the stone, you will still need to submerge it in water it just no longer requires the moon priestess to use. The water can be a pond... a basin of water... a bathtub.. whatever. Also the same restrictions about use... nighttime with the moon out... once per day max.

Nyralim 5 days since IC post

Fidelias - 8 days since IC post

Given the holiday weekend there is some leeway, however generally speaking a week without an IC post puts you in warning mode. If it gets close to 2 weeks I will adopt out the characters.

Nasukaya is going on vacation for like 2 weeks either today or tomorrow. I will move her along mainly following the rest of the group. So don't wait on her or expect too much from her. So that basically leaves the writing up to Eandro, Nyralim and me... which is fine, as Kogan will join the group in the near future. So ya.. for the time being I will respond as both Fidelias and Nasukaya.

I thought I would clarify something...
At the forks in the river there are stations where men basically sort the goods being floated down the river based on their markings and send them down their respective forks. It doesn't necessarily impact you at all... just felt it was worth mentioning in case anyone was wondering how that was controlled.

Feel free to do whatever at this point... continue down the river... land the boat on the shore and set up camp for the night... go hunting... use the stone... light the forest on fire... take the west fork... take the east fork... dance naked under the stars... whatever you want.
