Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro stumbled back attempting to return to his en-guarde position as the creature lunges away from him, the dark woman steps between him and the beast, but from what he saw it appears to be severely damaged. He attempts to step back to get further out of the way, but he stumbles as his head throbs and his vision wavers and swims slightly.  The blow he suffered must have been a lot harder than he thought. He resheaths his saber, and holds his knees waiting for his vision to clear. After a moment he takes a large worn handkerchief out of a pocket and wraps it around his head to stop the trickle of blood running down the side of his face.  He grits his teeth as he ties the makeshift bandage around his head and the fabric contacts the wound. He steps further back seeking a wall or something to support himself until his head clears, the adrenaline starting to wear off. The others can handle the monster for now, he'll get back into the fight if things go sour.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The assassin moved quickly, seeing her opportunity to strike. Her curved blades ripped into the creatures form and cut with precision and power. The shrieking ceased and faded away into a quiet gurgling noise as it collapsed to the ground. The darkness above the creature dissapated into nothingness and the hunched form slowly began to revert back to the shape of the elven girl. Her body was bloodied and destroyed but her face had an almost angelic glow as she looked about at the group.
Her lips moved and words slipped out like water contained in a clenched fist. "Th.. thank.. you. The beast took me when I first set out from my village." She was fading fast, and her face contorted with the pain of speaking. "Br... bring me the stone from the bag, quickly. Y..you will need it's power in order to succeed." She weakly moved an arm out and gestured for the stone to be placed in her outstretched palm.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro didn't even hear what was said much less see the reversion.  His head was throbbing, he barely made it to the wall using it to hold himself up as waves of dizziness washed over him, he supposed that's what he got for not only getting smashed in the side of the head, but also hitting the floor head first didn't help any either.  He slide down the wall sitting leaning against it as he sat on the floor.  The best he could hope for was the thing was dead.  He groaned slightly, he'd get back to whatever the voiced had to say in a bit he just needed to sit and clear his head.

The smooth deep voice spoke out, "Do as she asks, she may be able to use her last remaining power to change the attributes of the stone so that any of you might use it." The weak voice added, "Eandro, you need medical attention. Unfortunately your healer has fallen; you must remain awake until you receive treatment. We will grant your group our own healer. We requested his services for reasons... our own... his ability is rivaled by none. We will see to it that he is waiting for you outside. You may all trust him implicitly."

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The power struggle ended and Fidelias nearly hit the ground due to the sudden change in resistance. Fidelias regained his balance, caught his breath, and took stock of the situation; it seemed the one called Eandro was hurt and out of commission, though the assassin seemed fine.

Fidelias was a bit let down he wasn't the one to deal the killing blow while the elf was in her... not-so-elf form. It just isn't the same, bathing in the blood of a powerful monster is much more therapeutic than that of a hapless lamb, misguided in her attempts to save the world through blind faith and perfume.

Eandro, he could tell, was having trouble, and one of the Mender's did mention that he needed to stay awake. "Bet you're glad you didn't give that one the rose, eh there Mr Fiddle?" he said with a smirk in an attempt to take his mind off his injuries and into the world.

Fidelias would not have followed the instructions of the girl if the Menders had not seconded them, so he went over to the tablet's resting spot and attempted to restore it to the dying girl's waiting hand.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The dying elf held the stone aloft and from her mouth issued forth an incredibly bright light that snaked its way towards the stone. The light entered the stone and it glowed fiercely for a moment. The elf shuddered and collapsed; the stone dropped from her hand and clattered to the floor. The deep voice spoke, "She has transferred what remained of her life force into the stone, and if we are lucky it will work as intended without her presence." The woman spoke, her voice sultry and confident once again, "Well done, you have worked as a team and bested your first darkling. In the coming days, I fear you will encounter many such beings. For now, you must leave this place immediately. Eandro must be seen to, and even now the healer known throughout Linness as Nyralim awaits. Unless you have further questions... move with haste!" A servant appeared from the darkness on the other side of the room, and beckoned for the group to follow.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro groaned at the purple haired man, he couldn't remember his name at the moment... "Your jokes are like my head... painfully lame, and I never give a rose to the wrong girl... Attempting to stand he just about fell over, before righting himself. "I guess I wont be dancing anytime soon," he gasped weaving his way to the door, he managed a bit better but still weaved a bit drunkenly.  On second thought he'd rather be drunk, at least then he could've enjoyed the part that lead up to the headache. He felt like a nap was in order, but the boss said no. Still it was a shame about the girl she had been attractive and sociable, though that may have been due to the monster.  He tried to keep his mind moving, but it kept occurring to him just how tired he truly felt.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Watching the creature revert back into the elven maiden, or at least, what was left of her, the assassin flicked the blood of her blades and sheathed them back in one fluid motion.
Her face neutral, she merely stood as the elf infused the stone with her life force and faded away. Turning to the others, she took note of the bard slumping over and half-way asleep already. In her experience, head injuries were never good to sleep off, so she reached him in a few swift steps and grabbed his upper arm, drawing him to his feet with some effort. Ducking under his arm, she draped it over her shoulders and took some of his weight to herself. "Walk." she said shortly and nodded towards the stone, speaking to Fidelias this time. "Get the stone and let us go back before he faints. I have no intention of dragging dead weight all the way up."

Despite his head swimming and spinning moving help to keep him awake.  He wasn't above accepting help when he needed it, and was grateful for the assistance.  "Not gonna faint he groans, just want to take a nap. You're welcome for the rose " he says before focusing back on walking. With the support, he could worry about flirting later.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The group gathered the bag of gold and precious stone and moved towards the beckoning servant. Instead of going back the way they had arrived they passed underneath the bright lights and into the shadows beyond. The tunnel through the wall was much like the one that led them into the chamber. The servant moved quickly, and the group struggled to keep up as Eandro relied heavily on Nasukaya. After making several turns at branches, the servant raised a hand to signal a halt. Shuffling ahead, the form touched something on the wall and a flood of fresh air filled the tunnel. Up ahead a porthole had opened, revealing a night sky full of twinkling stars. A ladder was set up beneath the opening and the servant assisted the party members as they climbed upwards and into the fresh night air. The group had exited the network of tunnels in a garden of brightly colored flowers. 100 yards behind them, a glint off the obsidian wall told them they had passed underneath it and were no longer in the Red Groves. They were not alone, a lone figure stood several feet away from the hole and watched them with gleaming eyes.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
With much help Eandro managed to surface then moving just far enough away to clear the opening he sat down, he knew what was going on.  It was similar to at the fights during festivals when a prize fighter took a heavy blow often being sick and dazed. He knew that was what was going on, but he knew no way to fix it and wasn't likely to make it better if he tried.  At this point he needed to just sit for a moment, his head spinning wasn't helping things really, and he retched a few times to the side. In fact he decided that almost unilaterally at that moment that battle scars were overhyped, and ridiculously overrated.  Out a handkerchief he wiped his mouth on his sleeve, looking up he saw the figure with gleaming eyes he seriously hoped the figure ahead was the promised healer because he really didn't feel like a fight at this point.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
It's been some time now since Nyralim came here. And even though it did help him to shake off his pursuers he disliked it here. Even somewhat isolated in the Red Groves, he still felt a bit overwhelmed in the city. There were so many people that needed healing and so much violence, that he wanted simply to run away from it all. True, he did visit almost all the big cities, but he didn't stay for so long in one for at least twenty years (give or take a few). So, when he was told that he would accompany this group on their mission as a healer, he was actually glad for an excuse to move away from the city. At least, he hoped they would be leaving the city. It didn't take much for him to get ready to move, and then he just followed the servant to the garden where he was supposed to wait for the group to show up.

A short time later, Nyralim noticed some people getting out of the porthole inside the garden. He immediately recognized a servant with the group and nodded shortly in his direction, before he approached the group. "Good evening everyone. I believe you were told about me." His voice was gentle and melodious, though undoubtedly male, giving the impression of the warm autumn wind in the forest. "Now, please give me some space." Immediately after he said that he approached the wounded, gaudily dressed, half-elf, while he simultaneously reached into one of his belt pouches and produced a small jar. He waited a few moments for the half-elf to finish retching, having produced a bandages in the meantime, before he gently said "And now, please sit still. It may sting a little", to him and started his work on the wound with a practiced hand. Of course, provided the half-elf in question, or someone else, didn't have a different idea.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
If Eandro had wanted to put up at fight, at this point a toddler might have over powered him, especially one with a stick or a rock.  He put forth no protest as the man removed his handkerchief and started treating him, though at least he was allowed a moment to complete his vomiting.  This whole affair was a fiasco, a small part of him was grateful for the medical treatment, while a large majority was still vehemently arguing that a good nap or sleeping for the rest of the night seemed like a great idea, and would probably fix his problems.  There were two other like glimmers of thought in his foggy mind, one was considering the probability of getting whacked in the head again while working for these people, and the last little bit was wondering if lady darkness had seen him skewer the monster through the throat.  He hoped his injury didn't diminish his standing in her eyes.  He decided to make a mental note, for what it was worth, to get her another rose since she helped him out of the tunnel, and had lost the first one he had given her.

As the healer's practiced hands applied the paste and bandage he clenched his teeth and hissed through his teeth. The pain prickled, tingled, and stung across his nerves at the contact with the medicine and absorbent bandage.  In a weak voice he asked, "how's it look?"

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Before doing anything else, Nyralim pulled a clean rag out and used the water from his waterskin to wet it, then using it to gently wipe the blood. Luckily, the flow of blood had mostly stopped by now. Finished with that he applied a poultice and bandaged the wound. Whole time during this process, he applied the soft trickle of magic to the wound. It was nothing drastic, so it wasn't visible, as usual when he did it like that.

Satisfied that the treatment was done, ans satisfied with the results, Nyralim used a tiny trickle of water again to wash his hands, before he put away the jar with poultice. "The wound wasn't so serious, so it should heal by the morning. The concussion is a bit more serious, but it should also be alright by the morning. Though, you will need to rest", he said as he straightened out. After he looked around a bit, to orient himself, Nyralim turned to the other two people present, and pointed in one direction "There should be an inn close by. I suggest we head there and let him rest for the night."

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Fidelias found himself slightly reassured when the fancy swordsman was able to respond cognitively. It was a good sign. He didn't want to have to pal around an idiot, and head wounds had been known to cause such ailments in the past he had known. From what little Fidelias knew, he figured he was in good hands, especially after the healer had mad his appearance.

"So I suppose we should make our introductions now that fancy-pants has his head back on straight. Good to know you aren't made of glass, man, you held your own back there, even if you are a pretty little dancin' singin' fairy." He chuckled at the last bit, intentionally added to get a reaction out of the man. "I'm Fidelias, apparently also now known as the Brazen Storm-Bringer. Has a nice ring to it, if I say so myself."

Fidelias stuck out his hand towards the one known as Eandro as he made his introduction.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro balked slightly at being called fancy pants, but truth be told he really didn't care.  People had all sorts of nicknames for bards, the sooner you grew a thick skin the better. Looking at the man with purple hair, he said "Eandro, musician, and bard.  Though I'd be careful who you call a fairy... That purple hair isn't making any points on your behalf, maybe you could be the Brazen Storm-Bringing fairy of myth and legend." He quipped back accepting the hand and shaking it.  He made a mental note to try and figure out what the healer had used on him, the pain had been reduced greatly and whatever the man had used Eandro really kinda wanted that at his disposal.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Nyralim frowned slightly at the exchange between Fidelias and Eandro and did his best to watch Eandro for any other symptoms. After a moment he decided to intercede a bit "Mister Eandro, please take it easy. The pain may have lessened, but you are still not fully healed, so no sudden movements. And do take it easy, please." After Nyralim delivered his message, he went towards the place where he was standing before they came and took his traveling staff and pack from the ground. For now he ignored the girl hiding in the shadow, since she chose to keep her distance.

Nyralim slung the pack over his back, and turned to the others. "Well then, shall we proceed to the inn?" A small smile stretched his lips "I don't mind sleeping here, but I don't believe that the owner of the garden would be too happy about it." As he waited for the others to finally get a move on, he kept furtively glancing in Eandro's direction, ready to help him if the need should arise.

Fidelias smiled at the return quip, satisfied that this expedition wouldn't be a complete bore as it pertained to camaraderie in his companions. He would not yet call the bard friend, but perhaps he had the makings of one. Only time would tell.

Fidelias rolled his eyes. "Relax doctor man, he's fine. It was just a bump on the head, he's just gotta walk it off, especially now that he's pumped full'a healy juice. His head aint that important now, is it?" Fidelias went to slug Eandro on the shoulder, but thought better of it and instead settled for a pretended motion.

"I do, however, concur on the idea of an inn. You ready to roll there little missy of the shadows?" Fidelias continued to test his companions, partially obliviously, partially intentionally.

Eandro could tell an act when he saw one and let the man fake punch him in the arm.  The inn sounded like a great idea, food sleep, maybe a pint of ale or a flagon of mead or two. Looking at the other he agreed with the Healer and Fidelias, "An inn sounds good to me too, Lady Darkness will you be joining us?" He asks look at the figure in the shadows.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Stepping to the side once the bard had moved away, the assassin had let the elven healer do his job, not saying anything.
Instead, she pulled out a thin rag from somewhere in her traveling bag and was currently wiping the remains of blood from her blades.
Listening to the conversations held to her side, she did not lift her head when the others addressed her. Without missing a beat, she responded in a leveled voice, which made it hard to determine if she was offended or amused. "Nasukaya would do just fine. I have no use of titles, grandiose or otherwise."

Satisfied with the job she had done, she slid the last blade back in it's sheath and looked up, a hint of a smirk playing at the corner of her mouth.
"To the inn it is then. I would not want your fine clothes to get wrinkled out here in this savage apple grove." she gave a small half-teasing bow and stepped out to follow the elf healer, as he obviously knew where the said inn was.
Despite of poking fun with the rest of the group, she honestly would not object spending the night under a roof.

Eandro stood up noticing it was quite a bit easier to move about when not dizzy, and followed after the others, "I can at least think of much more fun ways to wrinkle my clothes than in a damp apple grove. Mistress Night" he called back teasing catching the hint of a smirk on her face.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The group agreed to rest for the night and set off in the direction of the nearest inn. It was late and the streets were empty, other then an occasional drunk, and up ahead lights flickered; it was clear they were approaching some possible locations. The group stepped onto the well lit street and were greeted by several inns and taverns that lined the road. Crude signs hung above the entrance ways with prices carved into them:

The Suckling Pig: 75c/room

Molly's Outhouse: 50c/room

The Grand Osprey: 1s/room

A city patrol passed by the group and one of the men barked at the group, "Best get off the streets unless yer looking fer problems. The only folk out this late are drunks and bandits..." He grumbled something under his breath as the rest of his companions kept walking; showing little interest in the strange looking group.

While they were walking, if anyone asked Nyralim introduced himself, otherwise he continued to observe Eandro. Luckily, there were no adverse aftereffects. Still, from his experience, Nyralim knew it is much better to lay down and sleep the healing off, especially after such a wound as Eandro had suffered.

When the guards passed them, he turned to the others, and softly spoke "Before we turn in for the night, shouldn't we try using the stone you were given? I believe you have been instructed in its use, right?"

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
A soft sound, which might have been a huffed out amused laugh or a condescending one, escaped the assassin as Eandro spoke. "Something tells me that there will be quite a few opportunities for that... though perhaps not of the sort that you might be hoping for, Master Rose Wielder."

Keeping her eyes on their surroundings, Nasukaya lifted her hood up when she saw the city patrol approach and let her cloak fall over her shoulder and cover her front. Smirking slightly, she thought about the comment one of the men tossed their way. Not drunks yet, nor were they bandits, though all things considered, they were looking for trouble.

She looked over to the elf healer as he spoke and then towards Fidelias. "You took it, have you not?" she asked, as she was sure that she didn't, being too busy hauling the minstrel to the surface.
Speaking of which, she had to admit surprise when she had seen him deliver a successful hit in his state. Quite honestly, she had not considered him capable of being focused even without the head wound. Mentally shrugging, she continued walking, mulling over this strange group she had ended up with.
There was definitive potential here, though she had her doubts about all of them. The bard seemed to lose himself easily and fitting the sword wielder into a stealth profile that they needed for the mission gave her a headache. As for the healer... What he turns out to be remained yet to be seen.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Fidelias openly laughed at the exchange of the Nasukaya and Eandro, genuinely amused at Nasukaya's projected opposition to Eandro's advances. He wondered how long it would be until Eandro gave up or Nasukaya gave in. The likelihood of either seemed equal at this point, as Nasukaya was obviously not offended by Eandro's verbal advances. Regardless, it was entertaining to watch and Fidelias would not dare interfere with something that gave him laughter. There was too little of that nowadays.

The assassin then turned towards him and prompted him for the stone. "Yeah, yeah, hold your horses I got the damn rock..." Fidelias set his pack on the ground and opened a small compartment sewn into one of the more inconspicuous pockets, but before retrieving the stone, looked around for any observers. Finding none, he presented the stone quickly, and slipped it into his pocket. He continued softly as to not be overheard, "Magic aint really my thing, but I do know that unwanted parties like to covet and steal shiny rocks like this one. Let's hit that Grand Osprey, I don't know what the hell an Osprey is, but we can sure's shit afford it, right? Might as bloody well take the nice'n. We'll get ourselves some rooms and all huddle around this this lump when we're in private." He motioned to the Grand Osprey.
