Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
"I heard rumors about the first two places as I came into town earlier, my vote is for the Osprey as well," he explains. "Plus it'll be nice to sleep in a nicer bed while the opportunity still presents itself." He grin Nasukaya title for him.  "Lady Shadow, the opportunities abound but you never find them if you never look, besides there is still time. Though it'd be interesting to hear what you think I have in mind, I doubt if I guessed I'd be wrong." Considering what Fidelias has to say on the matter of the magical stone, he agrees.  "I agree with Lavender Locks a room would be more discreet, also there will be food and drink to be had while we discuss our next move." With that he starts walking to the Osprey.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Nyralim offhandedly answered Fidelias's question before he followed Eandro to the inn. "Osprey is a bird. It lives near the bodies of water, since its main diet are fishes. You may know it by the name of fish eagle or sea hawk." As he caught up with Eandro, Nyralim softly, but firmly, repeated his warning "As I said earlier, Mister Eandro, please, no strenuous activities tonight. Otherwise, what I have done to help you may be for naught." He understood that the young man may have other plans for spending his night, but those plans were not advisable under the current circumstances. Of course, if the half-elf ignored his warning and did as he pleased, Nyralim would help him again. He just made a mental note, that when that time comes, he better had some sleep medication prepared.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The group agreed that the Grand Osprey seemed most appropriate for a group of aspiring well-to-do adventurers and headed off towards the entrance. Once inside, they approached a well worn counter and engaged in discussion with the innkeeper. He was a round man with red cheeks and a loud boisterous voice. "Oi! Welcome to the Grand Osprey! The finest lodgings from here to... well... to the end of the road! The price tonight be 1 silver per room, and I has em available on the second floor all neat and in a row." The group handed over 4 silver and were given, each in turn, a large copper key with a number carved into the handle. The innkeeper pointed to the stairs which were located towards the back of the tavern and the group, eager to settle in, headed off towards the second floor.

The tavern on the first floor was nearly empty, but would remain open for another hour or two for inn guests. At the top of the stairs, a row of rooms on the right matched the numbers carved into the keys. Nyralim had the closest #3; Eandro the next #4; Fidelias followed #5; and Nasukaya at the end #6. The sound of the few remaining patrons downstairs faded away and the pleasant smell of a fresh cleanliness welcomed each as they opened the room doors. The layout was simple, a single bed, a window looking out over the street, and a small sink with running water. The water was a commodity that would not have been found in a cheaper room. The night air was crisp and refreshing and the moon shone bright; despite the events of earlier, tonight was turning into a pleasant evening. The members looked about at each other as they stood in the entrance ways of their prospective rooms.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro looks into the room assigned to him, everything looked in order at least.  He steps inside and drops his travel roll next to the sink.  He looks about briefly inspecting the room for any trouble, in his travels he'd spent the night at more than the occasional sketchy tavern, and while this place was by no means sketchy he had a bit of a practiced eye at spotting rooms that'd be potential trouble later.  Despite, he closes the window before exiting the room, and plucking a hair off his head he licks his fingers and places it on the door just above eye level.  Turning towards Fidelis, he says softly to the entire group, "let's take step inside and take a look before it gets much later. I'd say I've other plans, but I have little faith in this magic stuff and I'd prefer to get an adequate amount of sleep for the night, before our real troubles begin."

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Slowly walking down the corridor, Nasukaya passing the others to reach the door of the last room. She paused as the bard spoke, nodding. "I will go down later to try and get us some supper. Perhaps it could be delivered into our rooms." she mussed, unlocking the door and going inside.

As soon as she entered the room assigned to her and made sure that nothing out of the ordinary wasn't present in there, Nasukaya cast a critical look around and deemed it acceptable. Even more so, if you compare it to what the majority of her nights from now on are going to look like.
Placing her backpack to the side of the bed, she slipped off her cloak and tossed it over the edge of the bed, before removing her weapon sheaths as well. Removing the thin, curved blades from them, she took each one and inspected them closely for blood leftovers, removing the stains she found with a small rag she pulled from the bag.

When she was satisfied with their state, she carefully set them back into their sheaths and patted the small of her back, finding one of many coin pouches stashed there. That should be more than enough for dinner, she mussed, as she walked over to the door and stepped outside. As she locked the door behind her, she pulled another small pouch from under her belt, opened it, sprinkled some of the white powder on the doorknob and then gently blown on it, so it wouldn't be visible anymore.

Satisfied, she hid the pouch again and almost casually walked downstairs to find the innkeeper.
Upon locating him behind the counter, she walked over to him and leaned on it with her elbow. "Would it be possible to get some dinner here?" she asked in a leveled voice, her face looking completely impassive.

Nyralim followed others to the Osprey, staying silent whole time. He just watched the half-elf in case something happened, but it seemed all was well with him. When they were given their rooms he just went inside and put away his pack and immediately went outside, to wait for the others.

When they emerged from their rooms, one by one he nodded in greeting to each one of them and once again nodded in response to Eandro's suggestion, indicating his agreement.

Fidelias poked his head in the room he had been granted and sniffed the air, "seems like everything is in order here..." He turned to Eandro and nodded his head in agreement. "Let's do this." He shut his door and faced Eandro, "soooo we're using your room, right?" Fidelias shifted his pack into a more comfortable position and looked back at the rest of the party expectantly. He noticed Nasukaya heading down the stairs and registered that she had mentioned something about food, "make sure you get enough for all of us!" he shouted at her as she passed from view.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The innkeeper had been polishing a shiny set of silverware when Nasukaya appeared from the second floor. He listened with dull eyes as she asked about food, "Well missy, the serving girls have gone home for the day... but I can see about having a few plates of food delivered to your rooms in a bit. 50c a plate, and have the money waiting when the food shows up. I won't lie to you and say you got lots of options... but there should be garlic lamb chops, rosemary potatoes and grilled vegetables to spare. Mrs. Odell be a fine cook, and she always has extras at the end of the night." He looked pleased with himself and went about polishing more utensils. He looked up at the young woman still standing there, "You did want food for you and your companions, did you not?"

His sharp senses picked Nasukaya talking with the innkeeper over the declining din on the first floor. Since he already had his dinner, he leaned over the railing calling out to her "Miss, I won't be needing the diner. But thank you for your consideration." Not waiting for her answer, he turned back towards the other two and nodded to Fidelias, indicating that he was ready to follow the rest of the group to whatever place they chose to have their viewing.

Eandro sighed, he was really hoping to not do this in his room, but at this point didn't care. "I figured your room would be better since you're holding it, but I suppose." Turning back to his room he opens the door leaving it for the other and sprawls on his bed much like one would expect of a teenager.  "Well don't just stand out there." he calls to the others in a slightly sardonic tone, "you're letting the cool night breezes out."

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Fidelias followed Eandro into his room and produced the strange flat stone from his pack. There was a large steel bowl next to the sink; it was likely used for washing... things... Fidelias scooped the bowl up and began to fill it with water. Once it was full to the brim, he set the bowl in the center of the room and waited for the rest of the group to enter. According to the council of the Menders, they need only place the stone in water... when the moon was out... and it should do something... He sat down, rather awkwardly, cross-legged in front of the bowl and looked back at the door. "Oi! come on you bunch of dilly dalliers! The sun's gonna rise before we get this done if we wait around much longer."

Nyralim looked down to see how the Nasukaya was doing with ordering dinner. He guessed she would be up shortly, so he just followed Eandro and Fidelias inside. As he entered he looked around a bit, noticing that this room is almost the same as his own, and then joined the others around the bowl. He mimicked Fidelias's sitting position, but, contrary to him, he felt quite comfortable sitting that way. And then he the waiting started...

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Catching the comment made by Nyralim about not needing food, Nasukaya nodded to the barkeep. "That sounds fine, thank you. I'll need three portions. Have them brought upstairs."
Settling on the meals with the barkeep, the assassin turned on her heel and softly padded upstairs, hearing familiar voices concentrated in one room in particular. As she opened the door and entered, she saw her companions already there, waiting to get started.
She approached on silent feet and stood next to them, but did not sit, as Fidelias and Nyralim had. "The food will be up shortly. Let's get this over with." she said in a low voice, as she crossed her arms over her chest and skeptically raised an eyebrow.
All of this magical mumbo-jumbo never held her interest for long, but she supposed that if the Menders had already insisted, it had to be of some use.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Noting that everyone had entered the room, Fidelias took this as his cue to toss the stone in the bowl of water. He did so without abandon, and the stone splashed a bit and may... or may not... have gotten water on Nyralim. He grinned wryly and said, "er my bad, this magic stuff is all a hoax anyhow." The door had shut behind Nasukaya and the room was quite dark now. Eandro had shut his window earlier and there was only a sliver of moonlight that pierced through a slightly uneven window frame. "Sooooo this is rediculous" Fidelias stated flatly.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
The stone settled to the bottom of the bowl and lay there motionless in the dark. It started small at first, a barely discernible light that seemed to wink and vacillate at the bottom of the bowl. As the group looked on, the light shifted into forms and began to intensify. Within a few more moments the room glowed with an unearthly light; shapes that were clearly humanoid began to melt into view on the surface of the water. The shapes moved around cautiously, some on horse back and others on foot. One was hunched over the mutilated forms of a man and his horse. The hunched form, a tall red haired woman, stood up and held aloft a sealed letter; the others looked about warily.

The humanoid forms faded away and the image seemed to zoom skyward and dove back down some 20 miles north of the groups location. It centered over a group of mounted men, armed to the teeth, who laughed and drank whilst they rode on. They seemed to glow with a dark aura that bespoke of something sinister. The images began to flicker slightly and words formed on surface of the water, "The children of light are 80 Miles South of Tiro, and heading to the Widow's Peak." The words shimmered for a moment and dissipated into roiling water. The stone shook in the bowl and water splashed over the sides for a moment and then it went still; the light flashed once and disappeared. The group was left to their own thoughts in the darkness of Eandro's room.

A knock on the door startled everyone back to reality. A timid and frightened voice spoke up, "uhhh hello? I have your food here... I'm just going to set it here on the ground..." There was a soft clink, and the pattering footfalls of a young child faded down the hallway.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro sighed as the words fade, "I suppose we are headed for Tiro then to pick up the trail.  That supposes we decide on the best way to get there." Hearing the knock he quickly leaps up and retrieves the food, passing the woman the amount asked for and  a few extra coppers as a tip. Closing the door he latches it and distributes the food, "I know of two ways to get there, the first is over land via foot or horse and the second being to float along with the goods being traded down river. Before we retire we should decide this." he says taking a bite of his food starting to eat quickly.

Nyralim ignored the water that splashed over him and, when it was all over, he nodded in response to Eandro, in agreement with him that they should decide their course of action before retiring for the night. "I know of a few ways we could get there cross country." He shrugged his shoulders "Though, I guess, the river might be the fastest way." He didn't offer any other opinions, instead waiting to hear what the others would say.

Fidelias was shaken up over the vision. Other then the brief encounter during the meeting with the Menders, he had never experienced magic before. He stared dumbly at Eandro and Nyralim unsure what to say. "uhhh ya... float down the river. Sounds like fun" he managed to sputter out. Fidelias turned his attention to his food, with a mouth full of it he continued on. "We can afford horses... or even a carriage if we want... but it seems like the faster we get to the eastern side of the continent, the better the chance that the children of light will survive." He sneered at the reference to the other group and nearly choked on a mouthful of lamb.

Nasukaya had remained motionless since her arrival into the room. She now consumed the plate of food rather voraciously for one so quiet. "I am with you, Eandro, if you feel the river is the fastest route then so be it." She faced the rest of the group with a placid look and shrugged her shoulders. "We can always stop off north of Westvale and get horses if the river is not to our liking. Would we pile into a boat here in Vayas then?"

Eandro yawned setting his empty plate to the side. "I think the river will be the best bet, and we can re-evaluate later like Nasukaya said.  My vote is for the river." Looking at Fidelias he smiled slightly, "Facial expressions really change their meanings when one is choking on their food at the same time. No one said we had to like the children of light, we just have a job to do." Looking at the rest of the group and addressing everyone he says, "If we have decided on the river I'd really like to sleep, unless of course Madame Darkness wants to stay so I can bring some light to her world." He finishes with a wink at Nasukaya

"Then, the river it is", Nyralim agreed with the rest. He seemed unconcerned, or uninterested, in the matters dealing with 'Children of Light', or the reactions of others to that. He was a healer, and healers should show no preferences to anyone. "I agree Mr. Eandro, we should all rest to be ready for tomorrow's journey." Nyralim kept his eyes trained on Eandro until he looked back "Especially you."

Nyralim gracefully rose up and went towards the door "Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to rest. Good night." With that, he went back into his room. True, he would rather sleep outdoors, but he just needs to be patient a little bit more. He really missed the feeling of laying down to sleep being surrounded by the forest and its sounds. While thinking that, he slowly disrobed and went to sleep.

Nasukaya nodded her agreement, they would acquire a boat in the morning and float down the river towards Tiro. She turned about and headed to her room. "See ya in the morning" her voice was flat and devoid of tone. Once in the privacy of her room, she quietly laid out her gear and took extra care to clean and sharpen her blades. The morning would come quickly, and nobody knew how often the opportunity to sleep in clean sheets would arise. She tucked in for the night and soon was fast asleep.

Fidelias grunted his assent and pulled himself to his feet. "Well I guess I'm gonna go grab some shut eye. In the morning we can get some food downstairs and possibly some information from the locals about where to find a boat." He thudded off to his room and crashed noisily into bed. "Sleep well everybody!" he shouted, and was greeted by a few distant retorts by other would-be-sleepers.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Sun streamed in through the windows and cracks and the bustling sound of commerce drifted up through the woodwork and into the rooms of the party members. Vayas was a busy city, and today was no exception; there was no down time, and no days off. People traveled from all over Linness to puzzle over the countless stalls that sold everything one could possibly imagine. The stalls lined the roads throughout the city. The only location that was free of the haggling merchants was inside the Red Groves. The restaurant on the first floor of the Grand Osprey was packed with guests all enjoying a hearty breakfast of fried eggs, thick slabs of juicy bacon and fresh baked bread slathered with creamy butter. The smell of food was powerful and most inviting.

2nd day of the 2nd month: 8:30 AM.

Re: Vayas - Gate to the Red Groves
Eandro had slept wonderful despite his lack of desired female company.  He even woke early which was so out of character anyone that knew him would've assumed that he was deathly ill or that it was a sign of the end of days. He washed his face and prepared his stuff for travel, another anomaly though less so than rising early.  Making his way downstairs he considers that possibly it was the smell of the food that woke him.  Sitting down at the table ready for travel he digs into his own hearty breakfast, and waits for the rest of the group to assemble.
